dijo a todo el pueblo de Israel: «Si ustedes están de acuerdo, y si es la voluntad del Señor nuestro Dios, les propongo que procedamos a enviar mensajes a nuestros hermanos, el resto del pueblo que se ha quedado en sus ciudades, y a los sacerdotes, para invitarlos a venir y unirse a nosotros.
Y dijo David á todo el congreso de Israel: Si os parece bien y de Jehová nuestro Dios, enviaremos á todas partes á llamar nuestros hermanos que han quedado en todas las tierras de Israel, y á los sacerdotes y Levitas que están con ellos en sus ciudades y ejidos que se junten con nosotros;
And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and that it be of the LORD our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:
David said to all the assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if it is of the LORD our God, let’s send word everywhere to our brothers who are left in all the land of Israel, with whom the priests and Levites are in their cities that have pasture lands, that they may gather themselves to us.
Y traigamos de regreso el cofre de nuestro Dios, el cual hemos tenido abandonado desde que Saúl inició su reinado».

Hubo acuerdo unánime, porque cada uno coincidía con él.

And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.

David, a su vez, se enojó porque el Señor había estallado contra Uza. Por eso, a ese lugar le dio el nombre de Peres Uza. Hasta hoy ese lugar conserva dicho nombre.
Y David tuvo pesar, porque Jehová había hecho rotura en Uzza; por lo que llamó aquel lugar Pérez-uzza, hasta hoy.
And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Uzza: wherefore that place is called Perez-uzza to this day.

Luego David sintió miedo de Dios y exclamó: «¡No puedo llevarme el cofre de Dios a mi casa!».

Finalmente decidió conducirlo a la casa de Obed Edom, el de Gat, en lugar de llevarlo a la Ciudad de David.

So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

El cofre permaneció allí en la casa de Obed Edom por tres meses, y el Señor lo bendijo, junto con su familia y sus bienes.
