Mas así que oyeron los filisteos que David había sido ungido rey de todo Israel, salieron todos en su busca, lo que sabido por David, fue a su encuentro.

Y habiendo avanzado ellos hasta Baalfarasim, allí los derrotó David, y dijo: Ha disipado Dios por mi mano a los enemigos, como se disipan o se derraman las aguas; y por esto se llamó aquel lugar Baalfarasim.
Subieron pues á Baal-perasim, y allí los hirió David. Dijo luego David: Dios rompió mis enemigos por mi mano, como se rompen las aguas. Por esto llamaron el nombre de aquel lugar Baal-perasim.

Hizo, pues, David lo que Dios le había mandado, y fue derrotando las tropas de los filisteos desde Gabaón hasta Gazera.
