Al ver Joab que la batalla se le presentaba por el frente y por la retaguardia, eligió algunos de entre los mejores hombres de Israel y los dispuso en orden de batalla contra los sirios.

Y viendo Joab que la haz de la batalla estaba contra él delante y á las espaldas, escogió de todos los más aventajados que había en Israel, y ordenó su escuadrón contra los Siros.

Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose out of all the choice of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians.
