ORA, dopo queste cose, avvenne che Nahas, re de' figliuoli di Ammon, morì; e il suo figliuolo regnò in luogo suo.

DESPUÉS de estas cosas aconteció que murió Naas rey de los hijos de Ammón, y reinó en su lugar su hijo.

Now it came to pass after this, that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his stead.

E Davide disse: Io userò benignità inverso Hanum, figliuolo di Nahas; perciocchè suo padre usò benignità inverso me. E Davide mandò ambasciatori, per consolarlo di suo padre. Ma, quando i servitori di Davide furono giunti nel paese de' figliuoli di Ammon, ad Hanun, per consolarlo,

Y dijo David: Haré misericordia con Hanán hijo de Naas, porque también su padre hizo conmigo misericordia. Así David envió embajadores que lo consolasen de la muerte de su padre. Mas venidos los siervos de David en la tierra de los hijos de Ammón á Hanán, para consolarle,

And David said, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father shewed kindness to me. And David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. So the servants of David came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.

David said, “I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun to comfort him.

i principali de' figliuoli di Ammon dissero ad Hanun: Al tuo parere è egli per onorar tuo padre, che Davide ti ha mandati dei consolatori? non sono i suoi servitori venuti a te, per investigare, e per sovvertire, e per ispiare il paese?

Los príncipes de los hijos de Ammón dijeron á Hanán: ¿A tu parecer honra David á tu padre, que te ha enviado consoladores? ¿no vienen antes sus siervos á ti para escudriñar, é inquirir, y reconocer la tierra?

But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee for to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land?

But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, “Do you think that David honors your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? Haven’t his servants come to you to search, to overthrow, and to spy out the land?”

Per ciò Hanun prese i servitori di Davide, e li fece radere, e tagliar loro i vestimenti a mezzo, fino alle natiche; e così li rimandò.

Entonces Hanán tomó los siervos de David, y rapólos, y cortóles los vestidos por medio, hasta las nalgas, y despachólos.

Fuéronse pues, y dada que fué la nueva á David de aquellos varones, él envió á recibirlos, porque estaban muy afrentados. E hízoles decir el rey: Estaos en Jericó hasta que os crezca la barba, y entonces volveréis.

Then there went certain, and told David how the men were served. And he sent to meet them: for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.

Then some people went and told David how the men were treated. He sent to meet them; for the men were greatly humiliated. The king said, “Stay at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return.”

Ora, i figliuoli di Ammon, veggendo che si erano renduti abbominevoli a Davide, Hanun, ed i figliuoli di Ammon, mandarono mille talenti d'argento per soldar carri e cavalieri di Mesopotamia, e della Siria di Maaca, e di Soba.

Y viendo los hijos de Ammón que se habían hecho odiosos á David, Hanán y los hijos de Ammón enviaron mil talentos de plata, para tomar á sueldo carros y gente de á caballo de Siria de los ríos, y de la Siria de Maachâ, y de Soba.

And when the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to David, Hanun and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to hire them chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, and out of Syria-maachah, and out of Zobah.

E soldarono trentaduemila carri, e il re di Maaca, con la sua gente; i quali vennero, e si accamparono davanti a Medeba. I figliuoli di Ammon si adunarono anch'essi dalle lor città, e vennero alla guerra.

Y tomaron á sueldo treinta y dos mil carros, y al rey de Maachâ y á su pueblo, los cuales vinieron y asentaron su campo delante de Medeba. Y juntáronse también los hijos de Ammón de sus ciudades, y vinieron á la guerra.

So they hired thirty and two thousand chariots, and the king of Maachah and his people; who came and pitched before Medeba. And the children of Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle.

E Davide, avendo ciò inteso, mandò Ioab, con tutto l'esercito della gente di valore.

E i figliuoli di Ammon uscirono, e ordinarono la battaglia in su l'entrata della porta; e i re ch'erano venuti, erano da parte nella campagna.

E Ioab, veggendo che la battaglia era volta contro a lui, davanti e dietro, fece una scelta di tutti gli uomini scelti d'Israele, e li ordinò incontro a' Siri.

Y viendo Joab que la haz de la batalla estaba contra él delante y á las espaldas, escogió de todos los más aventajados que había en Israel, y ordenó su escuadrón contra los Siros.

E diede a condurre il rimanente della gente ad Abisai, suo fratello, e li ordinò in battaglia incontro a' figliuoli di Ammon;

e disse ad Abisai: Se i Siri mi superano, soccorrimi; se altresì i figliuoli di Ammon ti superano, io ti soccorrerò.

Y dijo: Si los Siros fueren más fuertes que yo, tú me salvarás; y si los Ammonitas fueren más fuertes que tú, yo te salvaré.

And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will help thee.

He said, “If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you are to help me; but if the children of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will help you.

Fortificati, e portiamoci valorosamente per lo nostro popolo, e per le città del nostro Dio; e faccia il Signore ciò che gli parrà bene.

Esfuérzate, y esforcémonos por nuestro pueblo, y por las ciudades de nuestro Dios; y haga Jehová lo que bien le pareciere.

Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight.

Allora Ioab, con la gente ch'egli avea seco, venne a battaglia contro a' Siri; ed essi fuggirono d'innanzi a lui.

Acercóse luego Joab y el pueblo que tenía consigo, para pelear contra los Siros; mas ellos huyeron delante de él.

So Joab and the people that were with him drew nigh before the Syrians unto the battle; and they fled before him.

Ed i figliuoli d'Ammon, veggendo che i Siri erano fuggiti, fuggirono anch'essi d'innanzi ad Abisai fratello di Ioab, ed entrarono nella città. E Ioab se ne ritornò in Gerusalemme.

Y los hijos de Ammón, viendo que los Siros habían huído, huyeron también ellos delante de Abisai su hermano, y entráronse en la ciudad. Entonces Joab se volvió á Jerusalem.

E i Siri, veggendo ch'erano stati sconfitti da Israele, mandarono messi, e fecero venire i Siri ch'erano di là dal Fiume; e Sofac, capo dell'esercito di Hadarezer, li conduceva.

Y viendo los Siros que habían caído delante de Israel, enviaron embajadores, y trajeron á los Siros que estaban de la otra parte del río, cuyo capitán era Sophach, general del ejército de Adarezer.

And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that were beyond the river: and Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer went before them.

When the Syrians saw that they were defeated by Israel, they sent messengers and called out the Syrians who were beyond the River, with Shophach the captain of the army of Hadadezer leading them.

Ed essendo ciò stato rapportato a Davide, egli adunò tutto Israele, e passò il Giordano, e venne a loro, e ordinò la battaglia contro a loro. E ciò fatto, i Siri combatterono con lui.

Luego que fué dado aviso á David, juntó á todo Israel, y pasando el Jordán vino á ellos, y ordenó contra ellos su ejército. Y como David hubo ordenado su tropa contra ellos, pelearon con él los Siros.

And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set the battle in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.

Ma i Siri fuggirono d'innanzi ad Israele; e Davide uccise la gente di settemila carri de' Siri, e quarantamila pedoni; ed ammazzò Sofac, capo dell'esercito.

Mas el Siro huyó delante de Israel; y mató David de los Siros siete mil hombres de los carros, y cuarenta mil hombres de á pie: asimismo mató á Sophach, general del ejército.

But the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians seven thousand men which fought in chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the host.

Ed i soggetti di Hadarezer, veggendo ch'erano stati sconfitti da Israele, fecero pace con Davide, e gli furono soggetti. Ed i Siri non vollero più soccorrere i figliuoli di Ammon.

Y viendo los Siros de Adarezer que habían caído delante de Israel, concertaron paz con David, y fueron sus siervos; y nunca más quiso el Siro ayudar á los hijos de Ammón.

And when the servants of Hadarezer saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they made peace with David, and became his servants: neither would the Syrians help the children of Ammon any more.

When the servants of Hadadezer saw that they were defeated by Israel, they made peace with David and served him. The Syrians would not help the children of Ammon any more.
