Or il arriva après cela que Nahas Roi des enfants de Hammon mourut, et son fils régna en sa place.

DESPUÉS de estas cosas aconteció que murió Naas rey de los hijos de Ammón, y reinó en su lugar su hijo.

Now it came to pass after this, that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his stead.

Et David dit : J’userai de gratuité envers Hanun, fils de Nahas ; car son père a usé de gratuité envers moi. Ainsi David envoya des messagers pour le consoler sur la mort de son père ; et les serviteurs de David vinrent au pays des enfants de Hammon vers Hanun pour le consoler.

Y dijo David: Haré misericordia con Hanán hijo de Naas, porque también su padre hizo conmigo misericordia. Así David envió embajadores que lo consolasen de la muerte de su padre. Mas venidos los siervos de David en la tierra de los hijos de Ammón á Hanán, para consolarle,

And David said, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father shewed kindness to me. And David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. So the servants of David came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.

David said, “I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun to comfort him.

Mais les principaux d’entre les enfants de Hammon dirent à Hanun : Penses-tu que ce soit pour honorer ton père que David t’a envoyé des consolateurs ? n’est-ce pas pour examiner exactement et épier le pays, afin de le détruire, que ses serviteurs sont venus vers toi ?

Los príncipes de los hijos de Ammón dijeron á Hanán: ¿A tu parecer honra David á tu padre, que te ha enviado consoladores? ¿no vienen antes sus siervos á ti para escudriñar, é inquirir, y reconocer la tierra?

But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee for to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land?

But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, “Do you think that David honors your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? Haven’t his servants come to you to search, to overthrow, and to spy out the land?”

Hanun donc prit les serviteurs de David, et les fit raser, et fit couper leurs habits par le milieu jusqu’aux hanches, puis il les renvoya.

Entonces Hanán tomó los siervos de David, y rapólos, y cortóles los vestidos por medio, hasta las nalgas, y despachólos.

Fuéronse pues, y dada que fué la nueva á David de aquellos varones, él envió á recibirlos, porque estaban muy afrentados. E hízoles decir el rey: Estaos en Jericó hasta que os crezca la barba, y entonces volveréis.

Then there went certain, and told David how the men were served. And he sent to meet them: for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.

Then some people went and told David how the men were treated. He sent to meet them; for the men were greatly humiliated. The king said, “Stay at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return.”

Or les enfants de Hammon voyant qu’ils s’étaient mis en mauvaise odeur auprès de David, Hanun et eux envoyèrent mille talents d’argent, pour prendre à leurs dépens des chariots et des gens de cheval de Mésopotamie, et de Syrie, de Mahaca, et de Tsoba.

Y viendo los hijos de Ammón que se habían hecho odiosos á David, Hanán y los hijos de Ammón enviaron mil talentos de plata, para tomar á sueldo carros y gente de á caballo de Siria de los ríos, y de la Siria de Maachâ, y de Soba.

And when the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to David, Hanun and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to hire them chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, and out of Syria-maachah, and out of Zobah.

Et ils levèrent à leurs frais pour eux trente-deux mille hommes, et des chariots, et le Roi de Mahaca avec son peuple qui vinrent, et se campèrent devant Médeba. Les Hammonites aussi s’assemblèrent de leurs villes, et vinrent pour combattre.

Y tomaron á sueldo treinta y dos mil carros, y al rey de Maachâ y á su pueblo, los cuales vinieron y asentaron su campo delante de Medeba. Y juntáronse también los hijos de Ammón de sus ciudades, y vinieron á la guerra.

So they hired thirty and two thousand chariots, and the king of Maachah and his people; who came and pitched before Medeba. And the children of Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle.

Ce que David ayant appris, il envoya Joab, et ceux de toute l’armée qui étaient les plus vaillants.

Et les enfants de Hammon sortirent, et rangèrent leur armée en bataille à l’entrée de la ville, et les Rois qui étaient venus, étaient à part dans la campagne.

Et Joab voyant que l’armée était tournée contre lui, devant et derrière, prit de tous les gens d’élite d’Israël, et les rangea contre les Syriens.

Y viendo Joab que la haz de la batalla estaba contra él delante y á las espaldas, escogió de todos los más aventajados que había en Israel, y ordenó su escuadrón contra los Siros.

Et Joab lui dit : Si les Syriens sont plus forts que moi, tu viendras me délivrer ; et si les enfants de Hammon sont plus forts que toi, je te délivrerai.

Y dijo: Si los Siros fueren más fuertes que yo, tú me salvarás; y si los Ammonitas fueren más fuertes que tú, yo te salvaré.

And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will help thee.

He said, “If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you are to help me; but if the children of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will help you.

Sois vaillant, et portons-nous vaillamment pour notre peuple, et pour les villes de notre Dieu ; et que l’Eternel fasse ce qui lui semblera bon.

Esfuérzate, y esforcémonos por nuestro pueblo, y por las ciudades de nuestro Dios; y haga Jehová lo que bien le pareciere.

Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight.

Alors Joab et le peuple qui était avec lui s’approchèrent pour donner bataille aux Syriens, qui s’enfuirent de devant lui.

Acercóse luego Joab y el pueblo que tenía consigo, para pelear contra los Siros; mas ellos huyeron delante de él.

So Joab and the people that were with him drew nigh before the Syrians unto the battle; and they fled before him.

Y los hijos de Ammón, viendo que los Siros habían huído, huyeron también ellos delante de Abisai su hermano, y entráronse en la ciudad. Entonces Joab se volvió á Jerusalem.

And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that were beyond the river: and Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer went before them.

When the Syrians saw that they were defeated by Israel, they sent messengers and called out the Syrians who were beyond the River, with Shophach the captain of the army of Hadadezer leading them.

Ce qui ayant été rapporté à David, il assembla tout Israël, et passa le Jourdain, et alla au devant d’eux, et se rangea en bataille contr’eux. David donc rangea la bataille contre les Syriens, et ils combattirent contre lui.

Luego que fué dado aviso á David, juntó á todo Israel, y pasando el Jordán vino á ellos, y ordenó contra ellos su ejército. Y como David hubo ordenado su tropa contra ellos, pelearon con él los Siros.

And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set the battle in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.

Mais les Syriens s’enfuirent de devant Israël ; et David défit sept mille chariots des Syriens, et quarante mille hommes de pied, et il tua Sophach le Chef de l’armée.

Mas el Siro huyó delante de Israel; y mató David de los Siros siete mil hombres de los carros, y cuarenta mil hombres de á pie: asimismo mató á Sophach, general del ejército.

But the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians seven thousand men which fought in chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the host.

Alors les serviteurs de Hadarhézer voyant qu’ils avaient été battus par ceux d’Israël, firent la paix avec David, et lui furent asservis ; et les Syriens ne voulurent plus secourir les enfants de Hammon.

Y viendo los Siros de Adarezer que habían caído delante de Israel, concertaron paz con David, y fueron sus siervos; y nunca más quiso el Siro ayudar á los hijos de Ammón.

And when the servants of Hadarezer saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they made peace with David, and became his servants: neither would the Syrians help the children of Ammon any more.
