Quando morreu Naás, rei de Amom, o seu filho reinou em seu lugar.

DESPUÉS de estas cosas aconteció que murió Naas rey de los hijos de Ammón, y reinó en su lugar su hijo.

Now it came to pass after this, that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his stead.

After this, Nahash the king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his place.

Então Davi disse: “Vou ser bondoso com Hanum, filho de Naás, porque o seu pai foi bondoso comigo”. E Davi mandou mensageiros dizer a Hanum que sentia muito pela morte do seu pai. Mas quando os mensageiros de Davi chegaram à terra dos amonitas para consolarem Hanum,

Y dijo David: Haré misericordia con Hanán hijo de Naas, porque también su padre hizo conmigo misericordia. Así David envió embajadores que lo consolasen de la muerte de su padre. Mas venidos los siervos de David en la tierra de los hijos de Ammón á Hanán, para consolarle,

And David said, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father shewed kindness to me. And David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. So the servants of David came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.

David said, “I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun to comfort him.

os auxiliares amonitas disseram ao rei: “Não vá se enganar pensando que Davi mandou esses homens para consolar o seu pai! Eles estão aqui como espiões, para depois entrarem e conquistarem o país!”

Los príncipes de los hijos de Ammón dijeron á Hanán: ¿A tu parecer honra David á tu padre, que te ha enviado consoladores? ¿no vienen antes sus siervos á ti para escudriñar, é inquirir, y reconocer la tierra?

But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee for to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land?

But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, “Do you think that David honors your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? Haven’t his servants come to you to search, to overthrow, and to spy out the land?”

Então o rei Hanum prendeu os mensageiros do rei Davi, rapando a barba deles e cortando a roupa deles até as nádegas, e mandou os homens de volta a Davi, passando vergonha.

Entonces Hanán tomó los siervos de David, y rapólos, y cortóles los vestidos por medio, hasta las nalgas, y despachólos.

Wherefore Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved them, and cut off their garments in the midst hard by their buttocks, and sent them away.

Quando Davi soube do que havia acontecido, mandou mensageiros ao encontro deles, pois haviam sido envergonhados, e mandou dizer a eles: “Fiquem em Jericó até que a barba cresça, então voltem para casa”.

Fuéronse pues, y dada que fué la nueva á David de aquellos varones, él envió á recibirlos, porque estaban muy afrentados. E hízoles decir el rey: Estaos en Jericó hasta que os crezca la barba, y entonces volveréis.

Then there went certain, and told David how the men were served. And he sent to meet them: for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.

Then some people went and told David how the men were treated. He sent to meet them; for the men were greatly humiliated. The king said, “Stay at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return.”

Quando o rei Hanum e os amonitas perceberam que haviam desagradado Davi, contrataram carros de guerra e cavaleiros da Mesopotâmia, dos sírios de Arã Maaca e de Zobá, por trinta e cinco toneladas de prata.

Y viendo los hijos de Ammón que se habían hecho odiosos á David, Hanán y los hijos de Ammón enviaron mil talentos de plata, para tomar á sueldo carros y gente de á caballo de Siria de los ríos, y de la Siria de Maachâ, y de Soba.

And when the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to David, Hanun and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to hire them chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, and out of Syria-maachah, and out of Zobah.

Contrataram trinta e dois mil carros e seus cavaleiros, e também conseguiram que o rei de Maaca e todo o seu exército viessem ajudá-los. Esses soldados acamparam em Medeba, e a eles se juntaram os soldados amonitas que o rei Hanum havia chamado das cidades do seu reino.

Y tomaron á sueldo treinta y dos mil carros, y al rey de Maachâ y á su pueblo, los cuales vinieron y asentaron su campo delante de Medeba. Y juntáronse también los hijos de Ammón de sus ciudades, y vinieron á la guerra.

So they hired thirty and two thousand chariots, and the king of Maachah and his people; who came and pitched before Medeba. And the children of Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle.

Quando Davi soube disso, mandou Joabe e os soldados mais valentes de Israel para combater o inimigo.

Oyéndolo David, envió á Joab con todo el ejército de los hombres valientes.

O exército de Amom saiu e ficou em posição de combate nas portas da cidade de Medeba. Enquanto isso, os reis contratados com os seus soldados ficaram fora, no campo.

Y los hijos de Ammón salieron, y ordenaron su tropa á la entrada de la ciudad; y los reyes que habían venido, estaban por sí en el campo.

And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array before the gate of the city: and the kings that were come were by themselves in the field.

Quando Joabe descobriu que ele tinha soldados inimigos pela frente e pelas costas, dividiu o seu exército e mandou um grupo posicionar-se contra os sírios.

Y viendo Joab que la haz de la batalla estaba contra él delante y á las espaldas, escogió de todos los más aventajados que había en Israel, y ordenó su escuadrón contra los Siros.

Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose out of all the choice of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians.

O outro grupo de homens, chefiado pelo seu irmão Abisai, se posicionou contra os amonitas.

And the rest of the people he delivered unto the hand of Abishai his brother, and they set themselves in array against the children of Ammon.

“Se os sírios forem fortes demais para mim, você vem me ajudar”, disse Joabe ao seu irmão Abisai; “e se os amonitas forem fortes demais para você, eu irei ajudar você.

Y dijo: Si los Siros fueren más fuertes que yo, tú me salvarás; y si los Ammonitas fueren más fuertes que tú, yo te salvaré.

And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will help thee.

He said, “If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you are to help me; but if the children of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will help you.

Seja corajoso e vamos lutar como homens para salvar nosso povo e as cidades de nosso Deus. E que o Senhor faça o que achar melhor”.

Esfuérzate, y esforcémonos por nuestro pueblo, y por las ciudades de nuestro Dios; y haga Jehová lo que bien le pareciere.

Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight.

Be courageous, and let’s be strong for our people and for the cities of our God. May the LORD do that which seems good to him.”

Então Joabe e os seus soldados atacaram os sírios, e os sírios fugiram deles.

Acercóse luego Joab y el pueblo que tenía consigo, para pelear contra los Siros; mas ellos huyeron delante de él.

So Joab and the people that were with him drew nigh before the Syrians unto the battle; and they fled before him.

So Joab and the people who were with him came near to the front of the Syrians to the battle; and they fled before him.

Quando os amonitas, atacados pelos soldados de Abisai, viram que os sírios estavam fugindo, também fugiram e entraram na cidade. Então Joabe voltou para Jerusalém.

Y los hijos de Ammón, viendo que los Siros habían huído, huyeron también ellos delante de Abisai su hermano, y entráronse en la ciudad. Entonces Joab se volvió á Jerusalem.

And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, they likewise fled before Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then Joab came to Jerusalem.

Depois que foram derrotados, os sírios enviaram mensageiros para trazer mais soldados do leste do rio Eufrates, chefiados pessoalmente por Sofaque, comandante do exército do rei Hadadezer.

Y viendo los Siros que habían caído delante de Israel, enviaron embajadores, y trajeron á los Siros que estaban de la otra parte del río, cuyo capitán era Sophach, general del ejército de Adarezer.

And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that were beyond the river: and Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer went before them.

When the Syrians saw that they were defeated by Israel, they sent messengers and called out the Syrians who were beyond the River, with Shophach the captain of the army of Hadadezer leading them.

Quando estas notícias chegaram a Davi, ele reuniu todo o Israel, atravessaram o rio Jordão e colocaram-se em posição de batalha contra os sírios, esperando o ataque. Quando iniciou o combate,

Luego que fué dado aviso á David, juntó á todo Israel, y pasando el Jordán vino á ellos, y ordenó contra ellos su ejército. Y como David hubo ordenado su tropa contra ellos, pelearon con él los Siros.

And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set the battle in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.

os sírios fugiram outra vez diante de Israel, e Davi matou sete mil condutores de carros de guerra e quarenta mil soldados que marchavam a pé. Também matou Sofaque, comandante do exército sírio.

Mas el Siro huyó delante de Israel; y mató David de los Siros siete mil hombres de los carros, y cuarenta mil hombres de á pie: asimismo mató á Sophach, general del ejército.

But the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians seven thousand men which fought in chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the host.

The Syrians fled before Israel; and David killed of the Syrian men seven thousand charioteers and forty thousand footmen, and also killed Shophach the captain of the army.

Quando os servos do rei Hadadezer viram que tinham sido derrotados diante de Israel, fizeram um acordo de paz com Davi e se sujeitaram a ele. E os sírios nunca mais quiseram ajudar os amonitas.

Y viendo los Siros de Adarezer que habían caído delante de Israel, concertaron paz con David, y fueron sus siervos; y nunca más quiso el Siro ayudar á los hijos de Ammón.

And when the servants of Hadarezer saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they made peace with David, and became his servants: neither would the Syrians help the children of Ammon any more.

When the servants of Hadadezer saw that they were defeated by Israel, they made peace with David and served him. The Syrians would not help the children of Ammon any more.
