Au renouvellement de l’année, époque où les rois entrent en campagne, Joab se mit à la tête de l’armée et porta le ravage dans le pays des Ammonites. Il mit le siège devant Rabba tandis que David restait à Jérusalem, se rendit maître de la ville et la détruisit.

Y ACONTECIÓ á la vuelta del año, en el tiempo que suelen los reyes salir á la guerra, que Joab sacó las fuerzas del ejército, y destruyó la tierra de los hijos de Ammón, y vino y cercó á Rabba. Mas David estaba en Jerusalem: y Joab batió á Rabba, y destruyóla.

And it came to pass, that after the year was expired, at the time that kings go out to battle, Joab led forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried at Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabbah, and destroyed it.
