Satanás se levantó contra Israel e incitó a David a hacer un censo de Israel.

MAS Satanás se levantó contra Israel, é incitó á David á que contase á Israel.

And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.

Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to take a census of Israel.

David les dijo a Joab y a los jefes del pueblo: “Vayan y cuenten a Israel desde Beerseba hasta Dan, y tráiganme el reporte para que yo sepa cuántos son.”

Y dijo David á Joab y á los príncipes del pueblo: Id, contad á Israel desde Beer-seba hasta Dan, y traedme el número de ellos para que yo lo sepa.

And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beer-sheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know it.

David said to Joab and to the princes of the people, “Go, count Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring me word, that I may know how many there are.”

Joab le respondió: “¡Que Yahvé multiplique a su pueblo cien veces más de lo que es! Pero, mi señor el rey, ¿no son todos ellos siervos de mi señor? ¿Por qué exige esto mi señor? ¿Por qué traerle culpa a Israel?”

Y dijo Joab: Añada Jehová á su pueblo cien veces otros tantos. Rey señor mío, ¿no son todos estos siervos de mi señor? ¿para qué procura mi señor esto, que será pernicioso á Israel?

And Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord’s servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?

Joab said, “May the LORD make his people a hundred times as many as they are. But, my lord the king, aren’t they all my lord’s servants? Why does my lord require this thing? Why will he be a cause of guilt to Israel?”

Sin embargo, la orden del rey prevaleció sobre Joab. Por eso Joab salió y recorrió todo Israel, y luego regresó a Jerusalén.

Mas el mandamiento del rey pudo más que Joab. Salió por tanto Joab, y fué por todo Israel; y volvió á Jerusalem, y dió la cuenta del número del pueblo á David.

Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.

Joab le entregó a David los resultados del censo del pueblo. En todo Israel había un millón cien mil hombres aptos para usar la espada; y en Judá había cuatrocientos setenta mil hombres aptos para usar la espada.

Y hallóse en todo Israel que sacaban espada, once veces cien mil; y de Judá cuatrocientos y setenta mil hombres que sacaban espada.

And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.

Joab gave the sum of the census of the people to David. All those of Israel were one million one hundred thousand men who drew a sword; and in Judah were four hundred seventy thousand men who drew a sword.

Pero no incluyó a las tribus de Leví y de Benjamín en el conteo, porque la orden del rey le parecía detestable.

Entre estos no fueron contados los Levitas, ni los hijos de Benjamín, porque Joab abominaba el mandamiento del rey.

But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them: for the king’s word was abominable to Joab.

A Dios le desagradó mucho esto, por lo que castigó a Israel.

Asimismo desagradó este negocio á los ojos de Dios, é hirió á Israel.

And God was displeased with this thing; therefore he smote Israel.

Entonces David le dijo a Dios: “He pecado gravemente al hacer esto. Pero ahora, te ruego que perdones la culpa de tu siervo, porque he actuado como un necio.”

Y dijo David á Dios: He pecado gravemente en hacer esto: ruégote que hagas pasar la iniquidad de tu siervo, porque yo he hecho muy locamente.

And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

David said to God, “I have sinned greatly, in that I have done this thing. But now put away, I beg you, the iniquity of your servant, for I have done very foolishly.”

Yahvé le habló a Gad, el vidente de David, y le dijo:

And the LORD spake unto Gad, David’s seer, saying,

The LORD spoke to Gad, David’s seer, saying,

“Ve y dile a David que Yahvé dice: ‘Te ofrezco tres castigos. Escoge uno de ellos, para que yo te lo aplique.’”

Ve, y habla á David, y dile: Así ha dicho Jehová: Tres cosas te propongo; escoge de ellas una que yo haga contigo.

Go and tell David, saying, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee three things: choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.

“Go and speak to David, saying, ‘The LORD says, “I offer you three things. Choose one of them, that I may do it to you.”’”

Gad fue a ver a David y le dijo: “Así dice Yahvé: ‘Elige:

Y viniendo Gad á David, díjole: Así ha dicho Jehová:

So Gad came to David, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Choose thee

So Gad came to David and said to him, “The LORD says, ‘Take your choice:

tres años de hambre; tres meses huyendo de tus adversarios y siendo alcanzado por la espada de tus enemigos; o tres días de la espada de Yahvé, en los que habrá una plaga en el país y el ángel de Yahvé traerá destrucción por todo el territorio de Israel.’ Piénsalo bien y dime qué debo responderle al que me envió.”

Escógete, ó tres años de hambre; ó ser por tres meses deshecho delante de tus enemigos, y que la espada de tus adversarios te alcance; ó por tres días la espada de Jehová y pestilencia en la tierra, y que el ángel de Jehová destruya en todo el término de Israel: mira pues qué he de responder al que me ha enviado.

Either three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.

David le dijo a Gad: “Estoy en una angustia terrible. Prefiero caer en las manos de Yahvé, porque su misericordia es muy grande, y no caer en manos de los hombres.”

Entonces David dijo á Gad: Estoy en grande angustia: ruego que yo caiga en la mano de Jehová; porque sus misericordias son muchas en extremo, y que no caiga yo en manos de hombres.

And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.

David said to Gad, “I am in distress. Let me fall, I pray, into the LORD’s hand, for his mercies are very great. Don’t let me fall into man’s hand.”

Entonces Yahvé mandó una plaga sobre Israel, y murieron setenta mil israelitas.

Así Jehová dió pestilencia en Israel, y cayeron de Israel setenta mil hombres.

So the LORD sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.

So the LORD sent a pestilence on Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell.

Además, Dios envió un ángel para que destruyera Jerusalén. Pero cuando estaba a punto de destruirla, Yahvé lo vio y se compadeció de la tragedia, y le dijo al ángel destructor: “¡Ya es suficiente! Retira tu mano.” En ese momento, el ángel de Yahvé estaba junto a la era de Ornán el jebuseo.

Y envió Jehová el ángel á Jerusalem para destruirla: pero estando él destruyendo, miró Jehová, y arrepintióse de aquel mal,

And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it. As he was about to destroy, the LORD saw, and he relented of the disaster, and said to the destroying angel, “It is enough. Now withdraw your hand.” the LORD’s angel was standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

David levantó la vista y vio al ángel de Yahvé parado entre la tierra y el cielo, con una espada desenvainada en la mano, apuntando hacia Jerusalén. Entonces David y los líderes del pueblo, que estaban vestidos con ropas ásperas en señal de dolor, se postraron rostro en tierra.

Y dijo al ángel que destruía: Basta ya; detén tu mano. Y el ángel de Jehová estaba junto á la era de Ornán Jebuseo.

And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.

Y David le dijo a Dios: “¿Acaso no fui yo el que mandó hacer el censo del pueblo? Fui yo el que pecó y el que hizo mal; pero estas ovejas, ¿qué han hecho? Por favor, oh Yahvé mi Dios, que tu castigo caiga sobre mí y sobre mi familia, pero no mandes esta plaga contra tu pueblo.”

Y alzando David sus ojos, vió al ángel de Jehová, que estaba entre el cielo y la tierra, teniendo un espada desnuda en su mano, extendida contra Jerusalem. Entonces David y los ancianos se postraron sobre sus rostros, cubiertos de sacos.

And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father’s house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.

David said to God, “Isn’t it I who commanded the people to be counted? It is even I who have sinned and done very wickedly; but these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand, O LORD my God, be against me and against my father’s house; but not against your people, that they should be plagued.”

Entonces el ángel de Yahvé le ordenó a Gad que le dijera a David que subiera y construyera un altar para Yahvé en la era de Ornán el jebuseo.

Y dijo David á Dios: ¿No soy yo el que hizo contar el pueblo? Yo mismo soy el que pequé, y ciertamente he hecho mal; mas estas ovejas, ¿qué han hecho? Jehová Dios mío, sea ahora tu mano contra mí, y contra la casa de mi padre, y no haya plaga en tu pueblo.

Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

Then the LORD’s angel commanded Gad to tell David that David should go up and raise an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

David subió para obedecer la palabra que Gad le había dicho en nombre de Yahvé.

Y el ángel de Jehová ordenó á Gad que dijese á David, que subiese y construyese un altar á Jehová en la era de Ornán Jebuseo.

And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spake in the name of the LORD.

Mientras Ornán estaba trillando trigo, volteó y vio al ángel, y sus cuatro hijos que estaban con él fueron a esconderse.

Entonces David subió, conforme á la palabra de Gad que le había dicho en nombre de Jehová.

And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.

Cuando David se acercaba, Ornán lo vio, y salió de la era para inclinarse ante él con el rostro en tierra.

Y volviéndose Ornán vió al ángel; por lo que se escondieron cuatro hijos suyos que con él estaban. Y Ornán trillaba el trigo.

And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshingfloor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.

Entonces David le dijo a Ornán: “Véndeme el terreno de esta era para construir aquí un altar a Yahvé. Cóbrame el precio exacto, para que se detenga la plaga que está sufriendo el pueblo.”

Y viniendo David á Ornán, miró éste, y vió á David: y saliendo de la era, postróse en tierra á David.

Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.

Then David said to Ornan, “Sell me the place of this threshing floor, that I may build an altar to the LORD on it. You shall sell it to me for the full price, that the plague may be stopped from afflicting the people.”

Ornán le respondió a David: “Tómalo; que mi señor el rey haga lo que le parezca mejor. Mira, también te regalo los bueyes para los sacrificios quemados, las tablas de trillar para usarlas como leña, y el trigo para la ofrenda de cereal. Te lo doy todo.”

Entonces dijo David á Ornán: Dame este lugar de la era, en que edifique un altar á Jehová, y dámelo por su cabal precio, para que cese la plaga del pueblo.

And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all.

Ornan said to David, “Take it for yourself, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes. Behold, I give the oxen for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meal offering. I give it all.”

Pero el rey David le contestó: “No, de ninguna manera. Te lo voy a comprar por su precio justo. No le voy a ofrecer a Yahvé lo que te pertenece a ti, ni le presentaré un sacrificio que no me haya costado nada.”

Y Ornán respondió á David: Tómalo para ti, y haga mi señor el rey lo que bien le pareciere: y aun los bueyes daré para el holocausto, y los trillos para leña, y trigo para el presente: yo lo doy todo.

And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.

King David said to Ornan, “No, but I will most certainly buy it for the full price. For I will not take that which is yours for the LORD, nor offer a burnt offering that costs me nothing.”

Así que David le pagó a Ornán seiscientos siclos de oro por el terreno.

Entonces el rey David dijo á Ornán: No, sino que efectivamente la compraré por su justo precio: porque no tomaré para Jehová lo que es tuyo, ni sacrificaré holocausto que nada me cueste.

So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.

Luego, David construyó allí un altar para Yahvé, y presentó sacrificios quemados y ofrendas de paz. Al invocar a Yahvé, él le respondió enviando fuego desde el cielo sobre el altar del sacrificio.

Y dió David á Ornán por el lugar seiscientos siclos de oro por peso.

And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.

David built an altar to the LORD there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called on the LORD; and he answered him from the sky by fire on the altar of burnt offering.

Entonces Yahvé le dio la orden al ángel, y este volvió a guardar su espada en la funda.

Y edificó allí David un altar á Jehová, en el que ofreció holocaustos y sacrificios pacíficos, é invocó á Jehová, el cual le respondió por fuego de los cielos en el altar del holocausto.

And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath thereof.

Then the LORD commanded the angel, and he put his sword back into its sheath.

En aquel tiempo, al ver David que Yahvé le había respondido en la era de Ornán el jebuseo, comenzó a ofrecer sacrificios allí.

Y como Jehová habló al ángel, él volvió su espada á la vaina.

At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.

El tabernáculo de Yahvé que Moisés había hecho en el desierto, junto con el altar de los sacrificios, estaban en ese tiempo en el santuario de Gabaón.

Entonces viendo David que Jehová le había oído en la era de Ornán Jebuseo, sacrificó allí.

For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering, were at that season in the high place at Gibeon.

Pero David no podía ir hasta allá para consultar a Dios, porque le aterraba la espada del ángel de Yahvé.

Y el tabernáculo de Jehová que Moisés había hecho en el desierto, y el altar del holocausto, estaban entonces en el alto de Gabaón: Mas David no pudo ir allá á consultar á Dios, porque estaba espantado á causa de la espada del ángel de Jehová.

But David could not go before it to enquire of God: for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the LORD.
