1Porque es mi deseo, hermanos míos, que guarden en mente cómo todos nuestros padres estaban debajo de la nube, y todos atravesaron el mar;
2Y todos ellos tuvieron el bautismo de Moisés en la nube y en el mar;
3Y todos tomaron la misma comida santa;
4Y la misma bebida santa; porque todos tomaron de las aguas de la roca santa que los seguía; y la roca era Cristo.
5Pero con la mayoría de ellos, Dios no se agradó, porque llegaron a su fin en el desierto.
6Ahora bien, estas cosas nos sirvieron de ejemplo, para que nuestros corazones no vayan tras las maldades, como lo hicieron.
7Entonces no vayan tras dioses falsos, como algunos de ellos lo hicieron; como se dice en las Sagradas Escrituras, después de descansar y comer, la gente se levantó a divertirse.
8No forniquemos, como algunos de ellos hicieron, de los cuales veintitrés mil terminaron en un día.
9Y no sometamos al Señor a prueba, como algunos de ellos lo hicieron, y vinieron a la muerte por medio de serpientes.
10Y no murmuren en contra del Señor, como algunos de ellos hicieron, y perecieron por él destructor.
11Ahora estas cosas fueron hechas como un ejemplo; y fueron escritos para nuestra amonestación, sobre quienes han llegado los últimos días.
12Entonces, que el que parece estar firme, mire que no caíga.
13Ustedes no han pasado por ninguna prueba, que no sea humanamente soportable. sino como lo que es común al hombre: y Dios es fiel, que no dejará que te caiga ninguna prueba a la que no puedas someterte; sino que dará juntamente con la tentación la salida, para que puedan soportar.
14Por esta causa, mis queridos hermanos, no den culto a dioses falsos.
15Lo que estoy hablando como a hombres sabios, juzguen ustedes mismos,
16La copa de bendición que bendecimos, ¿no nos da parte en la sangre de Cristo? y ¿no es el pan quebrado una parte del cuerpo de Cristo?
17Porque, siendo muchas personas, somos un solo pan, somos un solo cuerpo, porque todos participamos en un solo pan.
18Vean a Israel según la carne: ¿no toman parte en el altar los que toman como alimento las ofrendas del altar?
19¿Digo, entonces, que lo que se ofrece a las imágenes es algo, o que la imagen es algo?
20Lo que digo es que las cosas ofrecidas por los gentiles se ofrecen a los demonios y no a Dios; y no es mi deseo que se hagan partícipes con los demonios.
21No es posible, al mismo tiempo, tomar la copa del Señor y la copa de los demonios; no pueden participar en la mesa del Señor y en la mesa de los demonios.
22¿O podemos ser causa de envidia para el Señor? ¿Somos más fuertes que él?
23Somos libres de hacer todas las cosas, pero no todo conviene. Somos libres de hacer todas las cosas, pero no todo edifica.
24No Dejen que un hombre preste atención solo a lo que es bueno para sí mismo, sino también al bien de su prójimo.
25De Todo lo que se vende en la carnicería, come, tómenla como alimento sin cuestionar si está bien o mal;
26porque la tierra es del Señor y su plenitud.
27Si un gentil hace un banquete para ti, y te agrada ir como invitado, toma todo lo que se te presenta, sin cuestionar si está bien o mal.
28Pero si alguien te dice: Este alimento ha sido usado como ofrenda, no lo tomes, a causa de él que lo dijo, y por motivos de conciencia; porque del Señor es la tierra y su plenitud.
29La conciencia, digo, no la tuya, sino la del otro hombre. Pues porque se ha de juzgar mi libertad por la conciencia de otro?.
30Pero si doy gracias a Dios por la comida que tomo, porque me han de criticar por comerlo?
31Entonces, si se trata de comida o bebida, o cualquier otra cosa, hagas lo que hagas, hazlo todo para la gloria de Dios.
32No Sean piedra de tropiezo a los judíos, ni a los gentiles, ni a la iglesia de Dios.
33Así como yo procuro agradar a todos los hombres en todas las cosas, sin buscar ganancias para mí, sino para el bien de los demás, para que puedan obtener la salvación.

1PORQUE no quiero, hermanos, que ignoréis que nuestros padres todos estuvieron bajo la nube, y todos pasaron la mar;
2Y todos en Moisés fueron bautizados en la nube y en la mar;
3Y todos comieron la misma vianda espiritual;
4Y todos bebieron la misma bebida espiritual; porque bebían de la piedra espiritual que los seguía, y la piedra era Cristo:
5Mas de muchos de ellos no se agradó Dios; por lo cual fueron postrados en el desierto.
6Empero estas cosas fueron en figura de nosotros, para que no codiciemos cosas malas, como ellos codiciaron.
7Ni seáis honradores de ídolos, como algunos de ellos; según está escrito: Sentóse el pueblo á comer y á beber, y se levantaron á jugar.
8Ni forniquemos, como algunos de ellos fornicaron, y cayeron en un día veinte y tres mil.
9Ni tentemos á Cristo, como también algunos de ellos le tentaron, y perecieron por las serpientes.
10Ni murmuréis, como algunos de ellos murmuraron, y perecieron por el destructor.
11Y estas cosas les acontecieron en figura; y son escritas para nuestra admonición, en quienes los fines de los siglos han parado.
12Así que, el que piensa estar firme, mire no caiga.
13No os ha tomado tentación, sino humana: mas fiel es Dios, que no os dejará ser tentados más de lo que podéis llevar; antes dará también juntamente con la tentación la salida, para que podáis aguantar.
14Por tanto, amados míos, huid de la idolatría.
15Como á sabios hablo; juzgad vosotros lo que digo.
16La copa de bendición que bendecimos, ¿no es la comunión de la sangre de Cristo? El pan que partimos, ¿no es la comunión del cuerpo de Cristo?
17Porque un pan, es que muchos somos un cuerpo; pues todos participamos de aquel un pan.
18Mirad á Israel según la carne: los que comen de los sacrificios ¿no son partícipes con el altar?
19¿Qué pues digo? ¿Que el ídolo es algo? ¿ó que sea algo lo que es sacrificado á los ídolos?
20Antes digo que lo que los Gentiles sacrifican, á los demonios lo sacrifican, y no á Dios: y no querría que vosotros fueseis partícipes con los demonios.
21No podéis beber la copa del Señor, y la copa de los demonios: no podéis ser partícipes de la mesa del Señor, y de la mesa de los demonios.
22¿O provocaremos á celo al Señor? ¿Somos más fuertes que él?
23Todo me es lícito, mas no todo conviene: todo me es lícito, mas no todo edifica.
24Ninguno busque su propio bien, sino el del otro.
25De todo lo que se vende en la carnicería, comed, sin preguntar nada por causa de la conciencia;
26Porque del Señor es la tierra y lo que la hinche.
27Y si algún infiel os llama, y queréis ir, de todo lo que se os pone delante comed, sin preguntar nada por causa de la conciencia.
28Mas si alguien os dijere: Esto fué sacrificado á los ídolos: no lo comáis, por causa de aquel que lo declaró, y por causa de la conciencia: porque del Señor es la tierra y lo que la hinche.
29La conciencia, digo, no tuya, sino del otro. Pues ¿por qué ha de ser juzgada mi libertad por otra conciencia?
30Y si yo con agradecimiento participo, ¿por qué he de ser blasfemado por lo que doy gracias?
31Si pues coméis, ó bebéis, ó hacéis otra cosa, hacedlo todo á gloria de Dios.
32Sed sin ofensa á Judíos, y á Gentiles, y á la iglesia de Dios:
33Como también yo en todas las cosas complazco á todos, no procurando mi propio beneficio, sino el de muchos, para que sean salvos.

1Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
5But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
7Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
8Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
9Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
10Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
11Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
12Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
13There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
14Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
15I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
16The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
17For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
18Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
19What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
20But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
21Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.
22Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
23All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
24Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth.
25Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:
26For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.
27If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
28But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof:
29Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man’s conscience?
30For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?
31Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
32Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
33Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

1Now I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2and were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3and all ate the same spiritual food;
4and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.
5However with most of them, God was not well pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.
7Don’t be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.”
8Let’s not commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell.
9Let’s not test Christ, as some of them tested, and perished by the serpents.
10Don’t grumble, as some of them also grumbled, and perished by the destroyer.
11Now all these things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come.
12Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he doesn’t fall.
13No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
14Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
15I speak as to wise men. Judge what I say.
16The cup of blessing which we bless, isn’t it a sharing of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, isn’t it a sharing of the body of Christ?
17Because there is one loaf of bread, we, who are many, are one body; for we all partake of the one loaf of bread.
18Consider Israel according to the flesh. Don’t those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar?
19What am I saying then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
20But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I don’t desire that you would have fellowship with demons.
21You can’t both drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You can’t both partake of the table of the Lord and of the table of demons.
22Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
23“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are profitable. “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things build up.
24Let no one seek his own, but each one his neighbor’s good.
25Whatever is sold in the butcher shop, eat, asking no question for the sake of conscience,
26for “the earth is the Lord’s, and its fullness.”
27But if one of those who don’t believe invites you to a meal, and you are inclined to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no questions for the sake of conscience.
28But if anyone says to you, “This was offered to idols,” don’t eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience. For “the earth is the Lord’s, with all its fullness.”
29Conscience, I say, not your own, but the other’s conscience. For why is my liberty judged by another conscience?
30If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced for something I give thanks for?
31Whether therefore you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
32Give no occasion for stumbling, whether to Jews, to Greeks, or to the assembly of God;
33even as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.
