1 Corintios 10

Porque no debéis de ignorar, hermanos míos, que nuestros padres estuvieron todos a la sombra de aquella misteriosa nube; que todos pasaron el mar;

PORQUE no quiero, hermanos, que ignoréis que nuestros padres todos estuvieron bajo la nube, y todos pasaron la mar;

Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

Now I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

y que todos bajo la dirección de Moisés fueron en cierto modo bautizados en la nube y en el mar;

And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

que todos comieron el mismo manjar espiritual,

Y todos comieron la misma vianda espiritual;

y todos bebieron la misma bebida espiritual (porque ellos bebían del agua que salía de la misteriosa piedra, y los iba siguiendo, la cual piedra era figura de Cristo );

Y todos bebieron la misma bebida espiritual; porque bebían de la piedra espiritual que los seguía, y la piedra era Cristo:

And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

pero a pesar de eso la mayor parte de ellos desagradaron a Dios; y así quedaron muertos en el desierto.

Mas de muchos de ellos no se agradó Dios; por lo cual fueron postrados en el desierto.

But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

Esos sucesos eran figura de lo que atañe a nosotros, a fin de que no nos abandonemos a malos deseos, como ellos se abandonaron.

Empero estas cosas fueron en figura de nosotros, para que no codiciemos cosas malas, como ellos codiciaron.

No seáis adoradores de los ídolos, como algunos de ellos, según está escrito: Se sentó el pueblo a comer y a beber, y se levantaron todos a retozar.

Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

Don’t be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.”

Ni forniquemos, como algunos de ellos fornicaron, y murieron en un día como veintitrés mil.

Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

Let’s not commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell.

Ni tentemos a Cristo , como hicieron algunos de ellos, los cuales perecieron mordidos de las serpientes.

Ni tentemos á Cristo, como también algunos de ellos le tentaron, y perecieron por las serpientes.

Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

Let’s not test Christ, as some of them tested, and perished by the serpents.

Ni tampoco murmuréis, como algunos de ellos murmuraron, y fueron muertos por el ángel exterminador.

Ni murmuréis, como algunos de ellos murmuraron, y perecieron por el destructor.

Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

Don’t grumble, as some of them also grumbled, and perished by the destroyer.

Todas estas cosas que les sucedían eran unas figuras: y están escritas para escarmiento de nosotros, que nos hallamos al fin de los siglos.

Y estas cosas les acontecieron en figura; y son escritas para nuestra admonición, en quienes los fines de los siglos han parado.

Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Mire, pues, no caiga el que piensa estar firme en la fe.

Así que, el que piensa estar firme, mire no caiga.

Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he doesn’t fall.

Hasta ahora no habéis tenido sino tentaciones humanas, u ordinarias; pero fiel es Dios, que no permitirá seáis tentados sobre vuestras fuerzas, sino que de la misma tentación os hará sacar provecho para que podáis sosteneros.

No os ha tomado tentación, sino humana: mas fiel es Dios, que no os dejará ser tentados más de lo que podéis llevar; antes dará también juntamente con la tentación la salida, para que podáis aguantar.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

En razón de esto, carísimos míos, huid del culto de los ídolos.

Por tanto, amados míos, huid de la idolatría.

Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

Puesto que hablo con personas inteligentes, juzgad vosotros mismos de lo que voy a decir.

El cáliz de bendición que bendecimos, o consagramos, ¿no es la comunión de la sangre de Cristo ?; y el pan que partimos, ¿no es la participación del cuerpo del Señor?

La copa de bendición que bendecimos, ¿no es la comunión de la sangre de Cristo? El pan que partimos, ¿no es la comunión del cuerpo de Cristo?

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

Porque todos los que participamos del mismo pan, bien que muchos, venimos a ser un solo pan, un solo cuerpo.

Porque un pan, es que muchos somos un cuerpo; pues todos participamos de aquel un pan.

For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

Because there is one loaf of bread, we, who are many, are one body; for we all partake of the one loaf of bread.

Considerar a los israelitas según la carne, los que entre ellos comen de las víctimas, ¿no es así que tienen parte en el altar o sacrificio?

Mirad á Israel según la carne: los que comen de los sacrificios ¿no son partícipes con el altar?

Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?

Consider Israel according to the flesh. Don’t those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar?

¿Mas qué?, ¿digo yo que lo sacrificado a los ídolos haya contraído alguna virtud?, ¿o que el ídolo sea algo?

¿Qué pues digo? ¿Que el ídolo es algo? ¿ó que sea algo lo que es sacrificado á los ídolos?

What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?

What am I saying then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?

No, sino que las cosas que sacrifican los gentiles, las sacrifican a los demonios, y no a Dios. Y no quiero que tengáis ninguna sociedad, ni por sombra, con los demonios; no podéis beber el cáliz del Señor y el cáliz de los demonios.

Antes digo que lo que los Gentiles sacrifican, á los demonios lo sacrifican, y no á Dios: y no querría que vosotros fueseis partícipes con los demonios.

But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.

But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I don’t desire that you would have fellowship with demons.

No podéis tener parte en la mesa del Señor, y en la mesa de los demonios.

No podéis beber la copa del Señor, y la copa de los demonios: no podéis ser partícipes de la mesa del Señor, y de la mesa de los demonios.

Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.

You can’t both drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You can’t both partake of the table of the Lord and of the table of demons.

¿Por ventura queremos irritar con celos al Señor? ¿Somos acaso más fuertes que él? Todo me es lícito, sí, pero no todo es conveniente.

¿O provocaremos á celo al Señor? ¿Somos más fuertes que él?

Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

Está bien que todo me sea lícito, mas no todo es de edificación.

Todo me es lícito, mas no todo conviene: todo me es lícito, mas no todo edifica.

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are profitable. “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things build up.

Dicta la caridad que nadie busque su propia satisfacción o conveniencia sino el bien del prójimo.

Ninguno busque su propio bien, sino el del otro.

Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth.

Let no one seek his own, but each one his neighbor’s good.

Por lo demás, todo lo que se vende en la plaza comedlo, sin andar en preguntas por escrúpulo de conciencia.

De todo lo que se vende en la carnicería, comed, sin preguntar nada por causa de la conciencia;

Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:

Whatever is sold in the butcher shop, eat, asking no question for the sake of conscience,

Porque del Señor es la tierra y todo lo que hay en ella.

Porque del Señor es la tierra y lo que la hinche.

For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.

for “the earth is the Lord’s, and its fullness.”

Si algún infiel os convida, y queréis ir, comed sin escrúpulo de todo lo que os ponen delante, sin hacer preguntas por razón de la conciencia.

Y si algún infiel os llama, y queréis ir, de todo lo que se os pone delante comed, sin preguntar nada por causa de la conciencia.

If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.

But if one of those who don’t believe invites you to a meal, and you are inclined to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no questions for the sake of conscience.

Mas si alguno dijere: Esto ha sido sacrificado a los ídolos, no lo comáis, en atención al que os ha avisado y a la conciencia:

Mas si alguien os dijere: Esto fué sacrificado á los ídolos: no lo comáis, por causa de aquel que lo declaró, y por causa de la conciencia: porque del Señor es la tierra y lo que la hinche.

But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof:

But if anyone says to you, “This was offered to idols,” don’t eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience. For “the earth is the Lord’s, with all its fullness.”

a la conciencia, digo, no la tuya, sino la del otro. Pues ¿por qué me he de exponer, diréis, a que sea condenada por la conciencia de otro esta libertad que tengo de comer de todo?

La conciencia, digo, no tuya, sino del otro. Pues ¿por qué ha de ser juzgada mi libertad por otra conciencia?

Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man’s conscience?

Conscience, I say, not your own, but the other’s conscience. For why is my liberty judged by another conscience?

Si yo recibo en acción de gracias lo que como, ¿por qué he de dar motivo a otro de hablar mal de mí por una cosa de que yo ofrezco a Dios acción de gracias?

Y si yo con agradecimiento participo, ¿por qué he de ser blasfemado por lo que doy gracias?

For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced for something I give thanks for?

Pero en fin, ora comáis, ora bebáis o hagáis cualquier otra cosa, hacedlo todo a gloria de Dios.

Si pues coméis, ó bebéis, ó hacéis otra cosa, hacedlo todo á gloria de Dios.

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Whether therefore you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

No deis motivo de ofensión o escándalo ni a los judíos, ni a los gentiles, ni a la Iglesia de Dios;

Sed sin ofensa á Judíos, y á Gentiles, y á la iglesia de Dios:

Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

Give no occasion for stumbling, whether to Jews, to Greeks, or to the assembly of God;

al modo que yo también en todo procuro complacer a todos, no buscando mi utilidad particular, sino la de los demás, a fin de que se salven.

Como también yo en todas las cosas complazco á todos, no procurando mi propio beneficio, sino el de muchos, para que sean salvos.

Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
