Und wenn ich alle meine Habe zur Speisung der Armen austeilen werde, und wenn ich meinen Leib hingebe, damit ich verbrannt werde, aber nicht Liebe habe, so ist es mir nichts nütze.

Y si repartiese toda mi hacienda para dar de comer á pobres, y si entregase mi cuerpo para ser quemado, y no tengo caridad, de nada me sirve.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

If I give away all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but don’t have love, it profits me nothing.
