1 Corintios 14

1Poursuivez l’amour, et désirez avec ardeur les [dons] spirituels, mais surtout de prophétiser.
2Parce que celui qui parle en langue ne parle pas aux hommes, mais à Dieu, car personne ne l’entend ; mais en esprit il prononce des mystères.
3Mais celui qui prophétise parle aux hommes pour l’édification, et l’exhortation, et la consolation.
4Celui qui parle en langue s’édifie lui-même ; mais celui qui prophétise édifie l’assemblée.
5Or je désire que tous vous parliez en langues, mais surtout que vous prophétisiez ; mais celui qui prophétise est plus grand que celui qui parle en langues, à moins qu’il n’interprète, afin que l’assemblée reçoive de l’édification.
6Et maintenant, frères, si je viens à vous et que je parle en langues, en quoi vous profiterai-je, à moins que je ne vous parle par révélation, ou par connaissance, ou par prophétie, ou par doctrine ?
7De même les choses inanimées qui rendent un son, soit une flûte, soit une harpe, si elles ne rendent pas des sons distincts, comment connaîtra-t-on ce qui est joué sur la flûte ou sur la harpe ?
8Car aussi, si la trompette rend un son confus, qui se préparera pour le combat ?
9De même aussi vous, avec une langue, si vous ne prononcez pas un discours intelligible, comment saura-t-on ce qui est dit, car vous parlerez en l’air ?
10Il y a je ne sais combien de genres de voix dans le monde, et aucune d’elles n’est sans son distinct.
11Si donc je ne connais pas le sens de la voix, je serai barbare pour celui qui parle, et celui qui parle sera barbare pour moi.
12Ainsi vous aussi, puisque vous désirez avec ardeur des dons de l’Esprit, cherchez à en être abondamment doués pour l’édification de l’assemblée.
13C’est pourquoi, que celui qui parle en langue prie pour qu’il interprète.
14Car si je prie en langue, mon esprit prie, mais mon intelligence est sans fruit.
15Qu’est-ce donc ? Je prierai avec l’esprit, mais je prierai aussi avec l’intelligence ; je chanterai avec l’esprit, mais je chanterai aussi avec l’intelligence.
16Autrement, si tu as béni avec l’esprit, comment celui qui occupe la place d’un homme simple dira-t-il l’amen à ton action de grâces, puisqu’il ne sait ce que tu dis ?
17Car toi, il est vrai, tu rends bien grâces ; mais l’autre n’est pas édifié.
18Je rends grâces à Dieu de ce que je parle en langue plus que vous tous ;
19mais, dans l’assemblée, j’aime mieux prononcer cinq paroles avec mon intelligence, afin que j’instruise aussi les autres, que 10 000 paroles en langue.
20Frères, ne soyez pas des enfants dans vos entendements, mais, pour la malice, soyez de petits enfants ; mais, dans vos entendements, soyez des hommes faits.
21Il est écrit dans la loi : « C’est en d’autres langues et par des lèvres étrangères que je parlerai à ce peuple ; et même ainsi, ils ne m’écouteront pas, dit le ✶Seigneur ».
22De sorte que les langues sont pour signe, non à ceux qui croient, mais aux incrédules ; mais la prophétie [est un signe], non aux incrédules, mais à ceux qui croient.
23Si donc l’assemblée tout entière se réunit ensemble, et que tous parlent en langues, et qu’il entre des hommes simples ou des incrédules, ne diront-ils pas que vous êtes fous ?
24Mais si tous prophétisent, et qu’il entre quelque incrédule ou quelque homme simple, il est convaincu par tous, [et] il est jugé par tous :
25les secrets de son cœur sont rendus manifestes ; et ainsi, tombant sur sa face, il rendra hommage à Dieu, publiant que Dieu est véritablement parmi vous.
26Qu’est-ce donc, frères ? Quand vous vous réunissez, chacun de vous a un psaume, a un enseignement, a une langue, a une révélation, a une interprétation : que tout se fasse pour l’édification.
27Et si quelqu’un parle en langue, que ce soient deux, ou tout au plus trois, [qui parlent], et chacun à son tour, et que [quelqu’]un interprète ;
28mais s’il n’y a pas d’interprète, qu’il se taise dans l’assemblée, et qu’il parle à soi-même et à Dieu ;
29et que les prophètes parlent, deux ou trois, et que les autres jugent ;
30et s’il y a eu une révélation faite à un autre qui est assis, que le premier se taise.
31Car vous pouvez tous prophétiser un à un, afin que tous apprennent et que tous soient exhortés.
32Et les esprits des prophètes sont assujettis aux prophètes.
33Car Dieu n’est pas [un Dieu] de désordre, mais de paix, comme dans toutes les assemblées des saints.
34Que vos femmes se taisent dans les assemblées, car il ne leur est pas permis de parler ; mais qu’elles soient soumises, comme le dit aussi la loi.
35Et si elles veulent apprendre quelque chose, qu’elles interrogent leurs propres maris chez elles, car il est honteux pour une femme de parler dans l’assemblée.
36La parole de Dieu est-elle procédée de vous, ou est-elle parvenue à vous seuls ?
37Si quelqu’un pense être prophète ou spirituel, qu’il reconnaisse que les choses que je vous écris sont le commandement du Seigneur.
38Et si quelqu’un est ignorant, qu’il soit ignorant.
39Ainsi, frères, désirez avec ardeur de prophétiser, et n’empêchez pas de parler en langues.
40Mais que toutes choses se fassent avec bienséance et avec ordre.

1SEGUID la caridad; y procurad los dones espirituales, mas sobre todo que profeticéis.
2Porque el que habla en lenguas, no habla á los hombres, sino á Dios; porque nadie le entiende, aunque en espíritu hable misterios.
3Mas el que profetiza, habla á los hombres para edificación, y exhortación, y consolación.
4El que habla lengua extraña, á sí mismo se edifica; mas el que profetiza, edifica á la iglesia.
5Así que, quisiera que todos vosotros hablaseis lenguas, empero más que profetizaseis: porque mayor es el que profetiza que el que habla lenguas, si también no interpretare, para que la iglesia tome edificación.
6Ahora pues, hermanos, si yo fuere á vosotros hablando lenguas, ¿qué os aprovecharé, si no os hablare, ó con revelación, ó con ciencia, ó con profecía, ó con doctrina?
7Ciertamente las cosas inanimadas que hacen sonidos, como la flauta ó la vihuela, si no dieren distinción de voces, ¿cómo se sabrá lo que se tañe con la flauta, ó con la vihuela?
8Y si la trompeta diere sonido incierto, ¿quién se apercibirá á la batalla?
9Así también vosotros, si por la lengua no diereis palabra bien significante, ¿cómo se entenderá lo que se dice? porque hablaréis al aire.
10Tantos géneros de voces, por ejemplo, hay en el mundo, y nada hay mudo;
11Mas si yo ignorare el valor de la voz, seré bárbaro al que habla, y el que habla será bárbaro para mí.
12Así también vosotros; pues que anheláis espirituales dones, procurad ser excelentes para la edificación de la iglesia.
13Por lo cual, el que habla lengua extraña, pida que la interprete.
14Porque si yo orare en lengua desconocida, mi espíritu ora; mas mi entendimiento es sin fruto.
15¿Qué pues? Oraré con el espíritu, mas oraré también con entendimiento; cantaré con el espíritu, mas cantaré también con entendimiento.
16Porque si bendijeres con el espíritu, el que ocupa lugar de un mero particular, ¿cómo dirá amén á tu acción de gracias? pues no sabe lo que has dicho.
17Porque tú, á la verdad, bien haces gracias; mas el otro no es edificado.
18Doy gracias á Dios que hablo lenguas más que todos vosotros:
19Pero en la iglesia más quiero hablar cinco palabras con mi sentido, para que enseñe también á los otros, que diez mil palabras en lengua desconocida.
20Hermanos, no seáis niños en el sentido, sino sed niños en la malicia: empero perfectos en el sentido.
21En la ley está escrito: En otras lenguas y en otros labios hablaré á este pueblo; y ni aun así me oirán, dice el Señor.
22Así que, las lenguas por señal son, no á los fieles, sino á los infieles: mas la profecía, no á los infieles, sino á los fieles.
23De manera que, si toda la iglesia se juntare en uno, y todos hablan lenguas, y entran indoctos ó infieles, ¿no dirán que estáis locos?
24Mas si todos profetizan, y entra algún infiel ó indocto, de todos es convencido, de todos es juzgado;
25Lo oculto de su corazón se hace manifiesto: y así, postrándose sobre el rostro, adorará á Dios, declarando que verdaderamente Dios está en vosotros.
26¿Qué hay pues, hermanos? Cuando os juntáis, cada uno de vosotros tiene salmo, tiene doctrina, tiene lengua, tiene revelación, tiene interpretación: hágase todo para edificación.
27Si hablare alguno en lengua extraña, sea esto por dos, ó á lo más tres, y por turno; mas uno interprete.
28Y si no hubiere intérprete, calle en la iglesia, y hable á sí mismo y á Dios.
29Asimismo, los profetas hablen dos ó tres, y los demás juzguen.
30Y si á otro que estuviere sentado, fuere revelado, calle el primero.
31Porque podéis todos profetizar uno por uno, para que todos aprendan, y todos sean exhortados.
32Y los espíritus de los que profetizaren, sujétense á los profetas;
33Porque Dios no es Dios de disensión, sino de paz; como en todas las iglesias de los santos.
34Vuestras mujeres callen en las congregaciones; porque no les es permitido hablar, sino que estén sujetas, como también la ley dice.
35Y si quieren aprender alguna cosa, pregunten en casa á sus maridos; porque deshonesta cosa es hablar una mujer en la congregación.
36Qué, ¿ha salido de vosotros la palabra de Dios? ¿ó á vosotros solos ha llegado?
37Si alguno á su parecer, es profeta, ó espiritual, reconozca lo que os escribo, porque son mandamientos del Señor.
38Mas el que ignora, ignore.
39Así que, hermanos, procurad profetizar; y no impidáis el hablar lenguas.
40Empero hágase todo decentemente y con orden.

1Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
2For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
3But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
4He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
5I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
6Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?
7And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?
8For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
9So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.
10There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
11Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.
12Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.
13Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.
14For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
15What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
16Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?
17For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.
18I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
19Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
20Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.
21In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.
22Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
23If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
24But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
25And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
26How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
27If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
28But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
29Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
30If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
31For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
32And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
33For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
34Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
35And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
36What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?
37If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
38But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
39Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
40Let all things be done decently and in order.

1Follow after love and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.
2For he who speaks in another language speaks not to men, but to God, for no one understands, but in the Spirit he speaks mysteries.
3But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, exhortation, and consolation.
4He who speaks in another language edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the assembly.
5Now I desire to have you all speak with other languages, but even more that you would prophesy. For he is greater who prophesies than he who speaks with other languages, unless he interprets, that the assembly may be built up.

23If therefore the whole assembly is assembled together and all speak with other languages, and unlearned or unbelieving people come in, won’t they say that you are crazy?
24But if all prophesy, and someone unbelieving or unlearned comes in, he is reproved by all, and he is judged by all.
25And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed. So he will fall down on his face and worship God, declaring that God is among you indeed.
26What is it then, brothers? When you come together, each one of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has another language, or has an interpretation. Let all things be done to build each other up.
27If any man speaks in another language, let there be two, or at the most three, and in turn; and let one interpret.
28But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in the assembly, and let him speak to himself and to God.
29Let two or three of the prophets speak, and let the others discern.
30But if a revelation is made to another sitting by, let the first keep silent.
31For you all can prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be exhorted.
32The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets,
33for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the assemblies of the saints.
34Let the wives be quiet in the assemblies, for it has not been permitted for them to be talking except in submission, as the law also says,
35if they desire to learn anything. “Let them ask their own husbands at home, for it is shameful for a wife to be talking in the assembly.”
36What!? Was it from you that the word of God went out? Or did it come to you alone?
37If any man thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize the things which I write to you, that they are the commandment of the Lord.
38But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.
39Therefore, brothers, desire earnestly to prophesy, and don’t forbid speaking with other languages.
40Let all things be done decently and in order.
