1 Corintios 4

Así que deben tenernos por siervos de Cristo encargados de impartir los secretos del Señor.

TÉNGANNOS los hombres por ministros de Cristo, y dispensadores de los misterios de Dios.

Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

So let a man think of us as Christ’s servants and stewards of God’s mysteries.

Ahora bien, lo más importante en un siervo es que demuestre que es digno de confianza.

Mas ahora se requiere en los dispensadores, que cada uno sea hallado fiel.

Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

Here, moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.

¿Qué de mí? En realidad no me interesa lo que opinen ustedes de mí, ni lo que opine nadie. No confío ni siquiera en mi propia opinión al respecto.

Yo en muy poco tengo el ser juzgado de vosotros, ó de juicio humano; y ni aun yo me juzgo.

But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.

But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you, or by a human court. Yes, I don’t even judge my own self.

Tengo limpia la conciencia, pero eso no quiere decir que sea justo. El Señor es el que tiene que juzgarme.

Porque aunque de nada tengo mala conciencia, no por eso soy justificado; mas el que me juzga, el Señor es.

For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

For I know nothing against myself. Yet I am not justified by this, but he who judges me is the Lord.

Por eso, no se precipiten a sacar conclusiones sobre si alguien es buen siervo o no. Esperen a que venga el Señor. Él sacará a la luz lo que está oculto en la oscuridad, y pondrá al descubierto las intenciones del corazón. Cuando ese momento llegue, cada uno recibirá de Dios la alabanza que merezca.

Así que, no juzguéis nada antes de tiempo, hasta que venga el Señor, el cual también aclarará lo oculto de las tinieblas, y manifestará los intentos de los corazones: y entonces cada uno tendrá de Dios la alabanza.

Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

He estado hablando de Apolos y de mí mismo para beneficio de ustedes, para que aprendan de nosotros lo que significa «no ir más allá de lo que está escrito». Así no andarán presumiendo de que un servidor es mejor que otro.

Esto empero, hermanos, he pasado por ejemplo en mí y en Apolos por amor de vosotros; para que en nosotros aprendáis á no saber más de lo que está escrito, hinchándoos por causa de otro el uno contra el otro.

And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

¿Qué los hace más importantes que los demás? ¿Qué tienes que Dios no te haya dado? Y si cuanto tienes te lo ha dado Dios, ¿por qué te las das de grande, como si hubieras logrado algo por esfuerzo propio?

Porque ¿quién te distingue? ¿ó qué tienes que no hayas recibido? Y si lo recibiste, ¿de qué te glorías como si no hubieras recibido?

For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

For who makes you different? And what do you have that you didn’t receive? But if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?

¡Al parecer ya tienen todo lo que necesitan! ¡Ya se han hecho ricos! ¡Se sienten reyes y nos echan a un lado! ¡Ojalá reinaran ya, para que nosotros reináramos con ustedes!

Ya estáis hartos, ya estáis ricos, sin nosotros reináis; y ojalá reinéis, para que nosotros reinemos también juntamente con vosotros.

Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.

You are already filled. You have already become rich. You have come to reign without us. Yes, and I wish that you did reign, that we also might reign with you!

Me parece que Dios nos ha colocado a nosotros los apóstoles al final de la línea, como reos sentenciados a muerte. Somos un espectáculo para el mundo, los ángeles y la humanidad.

Porque á lo que pienso, Dios nos ha mostrado á nosotros los apóstoles por los postreros, como á sentenciados á muerte: porque somos hechos espectáculo al mundo, y á los ángeles, y á los hombres.

For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.

For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last of all, like men sentenced to death. For we are made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and men.

Por obedecer a Cristo, somos unos tontos, mientras que ustedes, claro, son los sabios. Nosotros somos débiles, ustedes fuertes. Ustedes honorables, nosotros despreciables.

Nosotros necios por amor de Cristo, y vosotros prudentes en Cristo; nosotros flacos, y vosotros fuertes; vosotros nobles, y nosotros viles.

We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.

We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You have honor, but we have dishonor.

Hasta este momento hemos pasado hambre y sed, no tenemos ropa, nos maltratan, no tenemos hogar.

Hasta esta hora hambreamos, y tenemos sed, y estamos desnudos, y somos heridos de golpes, y andamos vagabundos;

Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;

Even to this present hour we hunger, thirst, are naked, are beaten, and have no certain dwelling place.

Hemos trabajado hasta el cansancio con nuestras manos para ganar el sustento. Nos maldicen y bendecimos, y hemos soportado con paciencia a los que nos persiguen.

Y trabajamos, obrando con nuestras manos: nos maldicen, y bendecimos: padecemos persecución, y sufrimos:

And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:

We toil, working with our own hands. When people curse us, we bless. Being persecuted, we endure.

Hemos respondido con suavidad cuando han hablado mal de nosotros. Hasta el momento nos consideran la escoria del mundo, el desecho de todos.

Somos blasfemados, y rogamos: hemos venido á ser como la hez del mundo, el desecho de todos hasta ahora.

Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.

Being defamed, we entreat. We are made as the filth of the world, the dirt wiped off by all, even until now.

No les escribo estas cosas para avergonzarlos, sino como advertencia y consejo a mis hijos amados,

No escribo esto para avergonzaros: mas amonéstoos como á mis hijos amados.

I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.

I don’t write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children.

porque aunque haya diez mil personas más que les enseñen de Cristo, el padre espiritual de ustedes soy yo. Yo los engendré en Cristo por medio del evangelio.

Porque aunque tengáis diez mil ayos en Cristo, no tendréis muchos padres; que en Cristo Jesús yo os engendré por el evangelio.

For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

For though you have ten thousand tutors in Christ, you don’t have many fathers. For in Christ Jesus, I became your father through the Good News.

Por lo tanto, imítenme.

Por tanto, os ruego que me imitéis.

Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

I beg you therefore, be imitators of me.

Para eso les envío a Timoteo, que es mi amado hijo en el Señor. Él les dirá cómo me comporto en Cristo Jesús y les recordará lo que enseño por todas partes y en todas las iglesias que visito.

Por lo cual os he enviado á Timoteo, que es mi hijo amado y fiel en el Señor, el cual os amonestará de mis caminos cuáles sean en Cristo, de la manera que enseño en todas partes en todas las iglesias.

For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

Because of this I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways which are in Christ, even as I teach everywhere in every assembly.

Sé que algunos de ustedes, envanecidos, piensan que no iré a verlos.

Mas algunos están envanecidos, como si nunca hubiese yo de ir á vosotros.

Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.

Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you.

Pero he de ir y pronto, si el Señor me lo permite, y veremos cómo hablan y si esos presumidos tienen el poder de Dios.

Empero iré presto á vosotros, si el Señor quisiere; y entenderé, no las palabras de los que andan hinchados, sino la virtud.

But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.

But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord is willing. And I will know, not the word of those who are puffed up, but the power.

Pues el reino de Dios no es cuestión de palabras sino de poder.

Porque el reino de Dios no consiste en palabras, sino en virtud.

For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

For God’s Kingdom is not in word, but in power.

¿Qué prefieren? ¿Que vaya a castigarlos y a regañarlos, o que vaya con ternura y mansedumbre?

¿Qué queréis? ¿iré á vosotros con vara, ó con caridad y espíritu de mansedumbre?

What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?

What do you want? Shall I come to you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?
