Jeder aber, der kämpft, übt sich in Verzicht (Selbstbeherrschung) in allen †Lebensbereichen. Die Athleten tun es, damit sie einen Siegeskranz bekommen, der doch vergänglich ist; wir aber für einen unvergänglichen.

Y todo aquel que lucha, de todo se abstiene: y ellos, á la verdad, para recibir una corona corruptible; mas nosotros, incorruptible.

And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

Every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.
