Carísimos, nosotros somos ya ahora hijos de Dios; mas lo que seremos algún día no aparece aún. Sabemos sí que cuando se manifestare claramente Jesucristo, seremos semejantes a él en la gloria, porque le veremos como él es.
MIRAD cuál amor nos ha dado el Padre, que seamos llamados hijos de Dios: por esto el mundo no nos conoce, porque no le conoce á él.
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn’t know us, because it didn’t know him.
Entretanto, quien tiene tal esperanza de él, se santifica a sí mismo, así como él es también santo.
Muy amados, ahora somos hijos de Dios, y aun no se ha manifestado lo que hemos de ser; pero sabemos que cuando él apareciere, seremos semejantes á él, porque le veremos como él es.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
Beloved, now we are children of God. It is not yet revealed what we will be; but we know that when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him just as he is.
Cualquiera que comete pecado, por lo mismo comete una injusticia, pues el pecado es injusticia.
Y cualquiera que tiene esta esperanza en él, se purifica, como él también es limpio.
And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
Everyone who has this hope set on him purifies himself, even as he is pure.
Y bien sabéis que él vino para quitar nuestros pecados, y en él no cabe pecado.
Cualquiera que hace pecado, traspasa también la ley; pues el pecado es transgresión de la ley.
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness.
Todo aquel que permanece en él, no peca; y cualquiera que peca, no le ha visto, ni le ha conocido.
Y sabéis que él apareció para quitar nuestros pecados, y no hay pecado en él.
And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
You know that he was revealed to take away our sins, and no sin is in him.
Hijitos míos, nadie os engañe. Quien ejercita la justicia, es justo, así como lo es también Jesucristo.
Cualquiera que permanece en él, no peca; cualquiera que peca, no le ha visto, ni le ha conocido.
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
Whoever remains in him doesn’t sin. Whoever sins hasn’t seen him and doesn’t know him.
Quien comete pecado, del diablo es hijo, porque el diablo desde el momento de su caída continúa pecando. Por eso vino el Hijo de Dios, para deshacer las obras del diablo.
Hijitos, no os engañe ninguno: el que hace justicia, es justo, como él también es justo.
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
Little children, let no one lead you astray. He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
Todo aquel que nació de Dios, no hace pecado, porque la semilla de Dios, que es la gracia santificante, mora en él, y, si no la echa de sí, no puede pecar, porque es hijo de Dios.
El que hace pecado, es del diablo; porque el diablo peca desde el principio. Para esto apareció el Hijo de Dios, para deshacer las obras del diablo.
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed: that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Por aquí se distinguen los hijos de Dios de los hijos del diablo. Todo aquel que no practica la justicia, no es hijo de Dios, y así tampoco lo es el que no ama a su hermano.
Cualquiera que es nacido de Dios, no hace pecado, porque su simiente está en él; y no puede pecar, porque es nacido de Dios.
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Whoever is born of God doesn’t commit sin, because his seed remains in him, and he can’t sin, because he is born of God.
En verdad que ésta es la doctrina que aprendisteis desde el principio , que os améis unos a otros.
En esto son manifiestos los hijos de Dios, y los hijos del diablo: cualquiera que no hace justicia, y que no ama á su hermano, no es de Dios.
In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
In this the children of God are revealed, and the children of the devil. Whoever doesn’t do righteousness is not of God, neither is he who doesn’t love his brother.
No como Caín, el cual era hijo del maligno espíritu, y mató a su hermano. ¿Y por qué le mató? Porque sus obras eran malignas, y las de su hermano justas.
Porque este es el mensaje que habéis oído desde el principio: Que nos amemos unos á otros.
For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

No extrañéis, hermanos, si os aborrece el mundo.
No como Caín, que era del maligno, y mató á su hermano. ¿Y por qué causa le mató? Porque sus obras eran malas, y las de su hermano justas.
Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.
unlike Cain, who was of the evil one and killed his brother. Why did he kill him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother’s righteous.
Nosotros conocemos haber sido trasladados de muerte a vida, en que amamos a los hermanos. El que no los ama, queda en la muerte, o está sin caridad.
Hermanos míos, no os maravilléis si el mundo os aborrece.
Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
Don’t be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you.
Cualquiera que tiene odio a su hermano, es un homicida. Y ya sabéis que en ningún homicida tiene su morada la vida eterna.
Nosotros sabemos que hemos pasado de muerte á vida, en que amamos á los hermanos. El que no ama á su hermano, está en muerte.
We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who doesn’t love his brother remains in death.
En esto hemos conocido la caridad de Dios, en que dio el Señor su vida por nosotros; y así nosotros debemos estar prontos a dar la vida por la salvación de nuestros hermanos.
Cualquiera que aborrece á su hermano, es homicida; y sabéis que ningún homicida tiene vida eterna permaneciente en sí.
Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him.
Quien tiene bienes de este mundo, y viendo a su hermano en necesidad cierra las entrañas, para no compadecerse de él, ¿cómo es posible que resida en él la caridad de Dios?
En esto hemos conocido el amor, porque él puso su vida por nosotros: también nosotros debemos poner nuestras vidas por los hermanos.
Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
Hijitos míos, no amemos solamente de palabra y con la lengua, sino con obras y de veras o sinceramente.
Mas el que tuviere bienes de este mundo, y viere á su hermano tener necesidad, y le cerrare sus entrañas, ¿cómo está el amor de Dios en él?
But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, then closes his heart of compassion against him, how does God’s love remain in him?
En esto echamos de ver que procedemos con verdad, y así alentaremos o justificaremos nuestros corazones en la presencia de Dios.
Hijitos míos, no amemos de palabra ni de lengua, sino de obra y en verdad.
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.
Porque si nuestro corazón nos remordiere, Dios es mayor que nuestro corazón, y todo lo sabe.
Y en esto conocemos que somos de la verdad, y tenemos nuestros corazones certificados delante de él.
And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
And by this we know that we are of the truth and persuade our hearts before him,
Carísimos, si nuestro corazón no nos arguye, podemos acercarnos a Dios con confianza,
Porque si nuestro corazón nos reprendiere, mayor es Dios que nuestro corazón, y conoce todas las cosas.
For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
because if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
y estar ciertos de que cuanto le pidiéremos, recibiremos de él, pues guardamos sus mandamientos, y hacemos las cosas que son agradables en su presencia.
Carísimos, si nuestro corazón no nos reprende, confianza tenemos en Dios;
Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
Beloved, if our hearts don’t condemn us, we have boldness toward God;
En suma, éste es su mandamiento, que creamos en el Nombre de su Hijo Jesucristo, y nos amemos mutuamente, conforme nos tiene mandado.
Y cualquier cosa que pidiéremos, la recibiremos de él, porque guardamos sus mandamientos, y hacemos las cosas que son agradables delante de él.
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

Y el que guarda sus mandamientos, mora en Dios, y Dios en él; y por esto conocemos que él mora en nosotros, por el Espíritu que nos ha dado.
Y éste es su mandamiento: Que creamos en el nombre de su Hijo Jesucristo, y nos amemos unos á otros como nos lo ha mandado.
And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

Queridos míos, no queráis creer a todo espíritu, sino examinad los espíritus si son de Dios, o siguen su doctrina; porque se han presentado en el mundo muchos falsos profetas.
Y el que guarda sus mandamientos, está en él, y él en él. Y en esto sabemos que él permanece en nosotros, por el Espíritu que nos ha dado.
And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
He who keeps his commandments remains in him, and he in him. By this we know that he remains in us, by the Spirit which he gave us.
