1Ihr Lieben, glaubet nicht einem jeglichen Geist, sondern prüfet die Geister, ob sie von Gott sind; denn es sind viel falsche Propheten ausgegangen in die Welt.
2Daran sollt ihr den Geist Gottes erkennen: ein jeglicher Geist, der da bekennt, daß Jesus Christus ist in das Fleisch gekommen, der ist von Gott;
3und ein jeglicher Geist, der da nicht bekennt, daß Jesus Christus ist in das Fleisch gekommen, der ist nicht von Gott. Und das ist der Geist des Widerchrists, von welchem ihr habt gehört, daß er kommen werde, und er ist jetzt schon in der Welt.
4Kindlein, ihr seid von Gott und habt jene überwunden; denn der in euch ist, ist größer, als der in der Welt ist.
5Sie sind von der Welt; darum reden sie von der Welt, und die Welt hört sie.
6Wir sind von Gott, und wer Gott erkennt, der hört uns; welcher nicht von Gott ist, der hört uns nicht. Daran erkennen wir den Geist der Wahrheit und den Geist des Irrtums.
7Ihr Lieben, lasset uns untereinander liebhaben; denn die Liebe ist von Gott, und wer liebhat, der ist von Gott geboren und kennt Gott.
8Wer nicht liebhat, der kennt Gott nicht; denn Gott ist Liebe.
9Daran ist erschienen die Liebe Gottes gegen uns, daß Gott seinen eingeborenen Sohn gesandt hat in die Welt, daß wir durch ihn leben sollen.
10Darin steht die Liebe: nicht, daß wir Gott geliebt haben, sondern daß er uns geliebt hat und gesandt seinen Sohn zur Versöhnung für unsre Sünden.
11Ihr Lieben, hat uns Gott also geliebt, so sollen wir uns auch untereinander lieben.
12Niemand hat Gott jemals gesehen. So wir uns untereinander lieben, so bleibt Gott in uns, und seine Liebe ist völlig in uns.
13Daran erkennen wir, daß wir in ihm bleiben und er in uns, daß er uns von seinem Geiste gegeben hat.
14Und wir haben gesehen und zeugen, daß der Vater den Sohn gesandt hat zum Heiland der Welt.
15Welcher nun bekennt, daß Jesus Gottes Sohn ist, in dem bleibt Gott und er in Gott.
16Und wir haben erkannt und geglaubt die Liebe, die Gott zu uns hat. Gott ist die Liebe; und wer in der Liebe bleibt, der bleibt in Gott und Gott in ihm.
17Darin ist die Liebe völlig bei uns, daß wir eine Freudigkeit haben am Tage des Gerichts; denn gleichwie er ist, so sind auch wir in dieser Welt.
18Furcht ist nicht in der Liebe, sondern die völlige Liebe treibt die Furcht aus; denn die Furcht hat Pein. Wer sich aber fürchtet, der ist nicht völlig in der Liebe.
19Lasset uns ihn lieben; denn er hat uns zuerst geliebt.
20So jemand spricht: “Ich liebe Gott”, und haßt seinen Bruder, der ist ein Lügner. Denn wer seinen Bruder nicht liebt, den er sieht, wie kann er Gott lieben, den er nicht sieht?
21Und dies Gebot haben wir von ihm, daß, wer Gott liebt, daß der auch seinen Bruder liebe.

1AMADOS, no creáis á todo espíritu, sino probad los espíritus si son de Dios: porque muchos falsos profetas son salidos en el mundo.
2En esto conoced el Espíritu de Dios: todo espíritu que confiesa que Jesucristo es venido en carne es de Dios:
3Y todo espíritu que no confiesa que Jesucristo es venido en carne, no es de Dios: y éste es el espíritu del anticristo, del cual vosotros habéis oído que ha de venir, y que ahora ya está en el mundo.
4Hijitos, vosotros sois de Dios, y los habéis vencido; porque el que en vosotros está, es mayor que el que está en el mundo.
5Ellos son del mundo; por eso hablan del mundo, y el mundo los oye.
6Nosotros somos de Dios: el que conoce á Dios, nos oye: el que no es de Dios, no nos oye. Por esto conocemos el espíritu de verdad y el espíritu de error.
7Carísimos, amémonos unos á otros; porque el amor es de Dios. Cualquiera que ama, es nacido de Dios, y conoce á Dios.
8El que no ama, no conoce á Dios; porque Dios es amor.
9En esto se mostró el amor de Dios para con nosotros, en que Dios envió á su Hijo unigénito al mundo, para que vivamos por él.
10En esto consiste el amor: no que nosotros hayamos amado á Dios, sino que él nos amó á nosotros, y ha enviado á su Hijo en propiciación por nuestros pecados.
11Amados, si Dios así nos ha amado, debemos también nosotros amarnos unos á otros.
12Ninguno vió jamás á Dios. Si nos amamos unos á otros, Dios está en nosotros, y su amor es perfecto en nosotros:
13En esto conocemos que estamos en él, y él en nosotros, en que nos ha dado de su Espíritu.
14Y nosotros hemos visto y testificamos que el Padre ha enviado al Hijo para ser Salvador del mundo.
15Cualquiera que confesare que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios, Dios está en él, y él en Dios.
16Y nosotros hemos conocido y creído el amor que Dios tiene para con nosotros. Dios es amor; y el que vive en amor, vive en Dios, y Dios en él.
17En esto es perfecto el amor con nosotros, para que tengamos confianza en el día del juicio; pues como él es, así somos nosotros en este mundo.
18En amor no hay temor; mas el perfecto amor echa fuera el temor: porque el temor tiene pena. De donde el que teme, no está perfecto en el amor.
19Nosotros le amamos á él, porque él nos amó primero.
20Si alguno dice, Yo amo á Dios, y aborrece á su hermano, es mentiroso. Porque el que no ama á su hermano al cual ha visto, ¿cómo puede amar á Dios á quien no ha visto?
21Y nosotros tenemos este mandamiento de él: Que el que ama á Dios, ame también á su hermano.

1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
5They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
7Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
12No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
14And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
15Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
16And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
17Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

20If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

1Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit who confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,
3and every spirit who doesn’t confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God; and this is the spirit of the Antichrist, of whom you have heard that it comes. Now it is in the world already.
4You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world.
5They are of the world. Therefore they speak of the world, and the world hears them.
6We are of God. He who knows God listens to us. He who is not of God doesn’t listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
7Beloved, let’s love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
8He who doesn’t love doesn’t know God, for God is love.
9By this God’s love was revealed in us, that God has sent his only born Son into the world that we might live through him.
10In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
11Beloved, if God loved us in this way, we also ought to love one another.
12No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God remains in us, and his love has been perfected in us.
