Años antes, cuando David derrotó a los edomitas, Joab, que era el jefe del ejército de Israel, fue a Edom para sepultar a sus hombres muertos en batalla, aprovechó la ocasión para dar muerte a casi todos los varones del país.

Porque cuando David estaba en Edom, y subió Joab el general del ejército á enterrar los muertos, y mató á todos los varones de Edom,

For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;

For when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the army had gone up to bury the slain, and had struck every male in Edom
