1Le roi Salomon aima beaucoup de femmes étrangères, outre la fille de Pharaon: des Moabites, des Ammonites, des Édomites, des Sidoniennes, des Héthiennes,
2appartenant aux nations dont l’Éternel avait dit aux enfants d’Israël: Vous n’irez point chez elles, et elles ne viendront point chez vous; elles tourneraient certainement vos cœurs du côté de leurs dieux. Ce fut à ces nations que s’attacha Salomon, entraîné par l’amour.
3Il eut sept cents princesses pour femmes et trois cents concubines; et ses femmes détournèrent son cœur.
4A l’époque de la vieillesse de Salomon, ses femmes inclinèrent son cœur vers d’autres dieux; et son cœur ne fut point tout entier à l’Éternel, son Dieu, comme l’avait été le cœur de David, son père.
5Salomon alla après Astarté, divinité des Sidoniens, et après Milcom, l’abomination des Ammonites.
6Et Salomon fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l’Éternel, et il ne suivit point pleinement l’Éternel, comme David, son père.
7Alors Salomon bâtit sur la montagne qui est en face de Jérusalem un haut lieu pour Kemosch, l’abomination de Moab, et pour Moloc, l’abomination des fils d’Ammon.
8Et il fit ainsi pour toutes ses femmes étrangères, qui offraient des parfums et des sacrifices à leurs dieux.
9L’Éternel fut irrité contre Salomon, parce qu’il avait détourné son cœur de l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, qui lui était apparu deux fois.
10Il lui avait à cet égard défendu d’aller après d’autres dieux; mais Salomon n’observa point les ordres de l’Éternel.
11Et l’Éternel dit à Salomon: Puisque tu as agi de la sorte, et que tu n’as point observé mon alliance et mes lois que je t’avais prescrites, je déchirerai le royaume de dessus toi et je le donnerai à ton serviteur.
12Seulement, je ne le ferai point pendant ta vie, à cause de David, ton père. C’est de la main de ton fils que je l’arracherai.
13Je n’arracherai cependant pas tout le royaume; je laisserai une tribu à ton fils, à cause de David, mon serviteur, et à cause de Jérusalem, que j’ai choisie.
14L’Éternel suscita un ennemi à Salomon: Hadad, l’Édomite, de la race royale d’Édom.
15Dans le temps où David battit Édom, Joab, chef de l’armée, étant monté pour enterrer les morts, tua tous les mâles qui étaient en Édom;
16il y resta six mois avec tout Israël, jusqu’à ce qu’il en eût exterminé tous les mâles.
17Ce fut alors qu’Hadad prit la fuite avec des Édomites, serviteurs de son père, pour se rendre en Égypte. Hadad était encore un jeune garçon.
18Partis de Madian, ils allèrent à Paran, prirent avec eux des hommes de Paran, et arrivèrent en Égypte auprès de Pharaon, roi d’Égypte, Pharaon donna une maison à Hadad, pourvut à sa subsistance, et lui accorda des terres.
19Hadad trouva grâce aux yeux de Pharaon, à tel point que Pharaon lui donna pour femme la sœur de sa femme, la sœur de la reine Thachpenès.
20La sœur de Thachpenès lui enfanta son fils Guenubath. Thachpenès le sevra dans la maison de Pharaon; et Guenubath fut dans la maison de Pharaon, au milieu des enfants de Pharaon.
21Lorsque Hadad apprit en Égypte que David était couché avec ses pères, et que Joab, chef de l’armée, était mort, il dit à Pharaon: Laisse-moi aller dans mon pays.
22Et Pharaon lui dit: Que te manque-t-il auprès de moi, pour que tu désires aller dans ton pays? Il répondit: Rien, mais laisse-moi partir.
23Dieu suscita un autre ennemi à Salomon: Rezon, fils d’Éliada, qui s’était enfui de chez son maître Hadadézer, roi de Tsoba.
24Il avait rassemblé des gens auprès de lui, et il était chef de bande, lorsque David massacra les troupes de son maître. Ils allèrent à Damas, et s’y établirent, et ils régnèrent à Damas.
25Il fut un ennemi d’Israël pendant toute la vie de Salomon, en même temps qu’Hadad lui faisait du mal, et il avait Israël en aversion. Il régna sur la Syrie.
26Jéroboam aussi, serviteur de Salomon, leva la main contre le roi. Il était fils de Nebath, Éphratien de Tseréda, et il avait pour mère une veuve nommée Tserua.
27Voici à quelle occasion il leva la main contre le roi. Salomon bâtissait Millo, et fermait la brèche de la cité de David, son père.
28Jéroboam était fort et vaillant; et Salomon, ayant vu ce jeune homme à l’œuvre, lui donna la surveillance de tous les gens de corvée de la maison de Joseph.
29Dans ce temps-là, Jéroboam, étant sorti de Jérusalem, fut rencontré en chemin par le prophète Achija de Silo, revêtu d’un manteau neuf. Ils étaient tous deux seuls dans les champs.
30Achija saisit le manteau neuf qu’il avait sur lui, le déchira en douze morceaux,
31et dit à Jéroboam: Prends pour toi dix morceaux! Car ainsi parle l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël: Voici, je vais arracher le royaume de la main de Salomon, et je te donnerai dix tribus.
32Mais il aura une tribu, à cause de mon serviteur David, et à cause de Jérusalem, la ville que j’ai choisie sur toutes les tribus d’Israël.
33Et cela, parce qu’ils m’ont abandonné, et se sont prosternés devant Astarté, divinité des Sidoniens, devant Kemosch, dieu de Moab, et devant Milcom, dieu des fils d’Ammon, et parce qu’ils n’ont point marché dans mes voies pour faire ce qui est droit à mes yeux et pour observer mes lois et mes ordonnances, comme l’a fait David, père de Salomon.
34Je n’ôterai pas de sa main tout le royaume, car je le maintiendrai prince tout le temps de sa vie, à cause de David, mon serviteur, que j’ai choisi, et qui a observé mes commandements et mes lois.
35Mais j’ôterai le royaume de la main de son fils, et je t’en donnerai dix tribus;
36je laisserai une tribu à son fils, afin que David, mon serviteur, ait toujours une lampe devant moi à Jérusalem, la ville que j’ai choisie pour y mettre mon nom.
37Je te prendrai, et tu régneras sur tout ce que ton âme désirera, tu seras roi d’Israël.
38Si tu obéis à tout ce que je t’ordonnerai, si tu marches dans mes voies et si tu fais ce qui est droit à mes yeux, en observant mes lois et mes commandements, comme l’a fait David, mon serviteur, je serai avec toi, je te bâtirai une maison stable, comme j’en ai bâti une à David, et je te donnerai Israël.
39J’humilierai par là la postérité de David, mais ce ne sera pas pour toujours.
40Salomon chercha à faire mourir Jéroboam. Et Jéroboam se leva et s’enfuit en Égypte auprès de Schischak, roi d’Égypte; il demeura en Égypte jusqu’à la mort de Salomon.
41Le reste des actions de Salomon, tout ce qu’il a fait, et sa sagesse, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des actes de Salomon?
42Salomon régna quarante ans à Jérusalem sur tout Israël.
43Puis Salomon se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré dans la ville de David, son père. Roboam, son fils, régna à sa place.

1EMPERO el rey Salomón amó, á más de la hija de Faraón, muchas mujeres extranjeras: á las de Moab, á las de Ammón, á las de Idumea, á las de Sidón, y á las Hetheas;
2Gentes de las cuales Jehová había dicho á los hijos de Israel: No entraréis á ellas, ni ellas entrarán á vosotros; porque ciertamente harán inclinar vuestros corazones tras sus dioses. A éstas pues se juntó Salomón con amor.
3Y tuvo setecientas mujeres reinas, y trescientas concubinas; y sus mujeres torcieron su corazón.
4Y ya que Salomón era viejo, sus mujeres inclinaron su corazón tras dioses ajenos; y su corazón no era perfecto con Jehová su Dios, como el corazón de su padre David.
5Porque Salomón siguió á Astaroth, diosa de los Sidonios, y á Milcom, abominación de los Ammonitas.
6E hizo Salomón lo malo en los ojos de Jehová, y no fué cumplidamente tras Jehová como David su padre.
7Entonces edificó Salomón un alto á Chêmos, abominación de Moab, en el monte que está enfrente de Jerusalem; y á Moloch, abominación de los hijos de Ammón.
8Y así hizo para todas sus mujeres extranjeras, las cuales quemaban perfumes, y sacrificaban á sus dioses.
9Y enojóse Jehová contra Salomón, por cuanto estaba su corazón desviado de Jehová Dios de Israel, que le había aparecido dos veces,
10Y le había mandado acerca de esto, que no siguiese dioses ajenos: mas él no guardó lo que le mandó Jehová.
11Y dijo Jehová á Salomón: Por cuanto ha habido esto en ti, y no has guardado mi pacto y mis estatutos que yo te mandé, romperé el reino de ti, y lo entregaré á tu siervo.
12Empero no lo haré en tus días, por amor de David tu padre: romperélo de la mano de tu hijo.
13Sin embargo no romperé todo el reino, sino que daré una tribu á tu hijo, por amor de David mi siervo, y por amor de Jerusalem que yo he elegido.
14Y Jehová suscitó un adversario á Salomón, á Adad, Idumeo, de la sangre real, el cual estaba en Edom.
15Porque cuando David estaba en Edom, y subió Joab el general del ejército á enterrar los muertos, y mató á todos los varones de Edom,
16(Porque seis meses habitó allí Joab, y todo Israel, hasta que hubo acabado á todo el sexo masculino en Edom;)
17Entonces huyó Adad, y con él algunos varones Idumeos de los siervos de su padre, y fuése á Egipto; era entonces Adad muchacho pequeño.
18Y levantáronse de Madián, y vinieron á Parán; y tomando consigo hombres de Parán, viniéronse á Egipto, á Faraón rey de Egipto, el cual le dió casa, y le señaló alimentos, y aun le dió tierra.
19Y halló Adad grande gracia delante de Faraón, el cual le dió por mujer á la hermana de su esposa, á la hermana de la reina Thaphnes.
20Y la hermana de Thaphnes le parió á su hijo Genubath, al cual destetó Thaphnes dentro de la casa de Faraón; y estaba Genubath en casa de Faraón entre los hijos de Faraón.
21Y oyendo Adad en Egipto que David había dormido con sus padres, y que era muerto Joab general del ejército, Adad dijo á Faraón: Déjame ir á mi tierra.
22Y respondióle Faraón: ¿Por qué? ¿qué te falta conmigo, que procuras irte á tu tierra? Y él respondió: Nada; con todo, ruégote que me dejes ir.
23Despertóle también Dios por adversario á Rezón, hijo de Eliada, el cual había huído de su amo Adad-ezer, rey de Soba.
24Y había juntado gente contra él, y habíase hecho capitán de una compañía, cuando David deshizo á los de Soba. Después se fueron á Damasco, y habitaron allí, é hiciéronle rey en Damasco.
25Y fué adversario á Israel todos los días de Salomón; y fué otro mal con el de Adad, porque aborreció á Israel, y reinó sobre la Siria.
26Asimismo Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, Ephrateo de Sereda, siervo de Salomón, (su madre se llamaba Serva, mujer viuda) alzó su mano contra el rey.
27Y la causa por qué éste alzó mano contra el rey, fué esta: Salomón edificando á Millo, cerró el portillo de la ciudad de David su padre.
28Y el varón Jeroboam era valiente y esforzado; y viendo Salomón al mancebo que era hombre activo, encomendóle todo el cargo de la casa de José.
29Aconteció pues en aquel tiempo, que saliendo Jeroboam de Jerusalem, topóle en el camino el profeta Ahías Silonita; y él estaba cubierto con una capa nueva; y estaban ellos dos solos en el campo.
30Y trabando Ahías de la capa nueva que tenía sobre sí, rompióla en doce pedazos,
31Y dijo á Jeroboam: Toma para ti los diez pedazos; porque así dijo Jehová Dios de Israel: He aquí que yo rompo el reino de la mano de Salomón, y á ti daré diez tribus;
32(Y él tendrá una tribu, por amor de David mi siervo, y por amor de Jerusalem, ciudad que yo he elegido de todas las tribus de Israel:)
33Por cuanto me han dejado, y han adorado á Astharoth diosa de los Sidonios, y á Chêmos dios de Moab, y á Moloch dios de los hijos de Ammón; y no han andado en mis caminos, para hacer lo recto delante de mis ojos, y mis estatutos, y mis derechos, como hizo David su padre.
34Empero no quitaré nada de su reino de sus manos, sino que lo retendré por caudillo todos los días de su vida, por amor de David mi siervo, al cual yo elegí, y él guardó mis mandamientos y mis estatutos:
35Mas yo quitaré el reino de la mano de su hijo, y darélo á ti, las diez tribus.
36Y á su hijo daré una tribu, para que mi siervo David tenga lámpara todos los días delante de mí en Jerusalem, ciudad que yo me elegí para poner en ella mi nombre.
37Yo pues te tomaré á ti, y tú reinarás en todas las cosas que deseare tu alma, y serás rey sobre Israel.
38Y será que, si prestares oído á todas las cosas que te mandare, y anduvieres en mis caminos, é hicieres lo recto delante de mis ojos, guardando mis estatutos y mis mandamientos, como hizo David mi siervo, yo seré contigo, y te edificaré casa firme, como la edifiqué á David, y yo te entregaré á Israel.
39Y yo afligiré la simiente de David á causa de esto, mas no para siempre.
40Procuró por tanto Salomón de matar á Jeroboam, pero levantándose Jeroboam, huyó á Egipto, á Sisac rey de Egipto, y estuvo en Egipto hasta la muerte de Salomón.
41Lo demás de los hechos de Salomón, y todas las cosas que hizo, y su sabiduría, ¿no están escritas en el libro de los hechos de Salomón?
42Y los días que Salomón reinó en Jerusalem sobre todo Israel, fueron cuarenta años.

1But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;
2Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.
3And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.
4For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.
5For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.
6And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.
7Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.
8And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.

11Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.
12Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father’s sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.
13Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.
14And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king’s seed in Edom.
15For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;
16(For six months did Joab remain there with all Israel, until he had cut off every male in Edom:)
17That Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father’s servants with him, to go into Egypt; Hadad being yet a little child.

25And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.
26And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon’s servant, whose mother’s name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.
27And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.
28And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.
29And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:
30And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:
31And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:
32(But he shall have one tribe for my servant David’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)
33Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.
34Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant’s sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:
35But I will take the kingdom out of his son’s hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.
36And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.
37And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desireth, and shalt be king over Israel.
38And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.
39And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.
40Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.
41And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?
42And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.
43And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

37I will take you, and you shall reign according to all that your soul desires, and shall be king over Israel.
38It shall be, if you will listen to all that I command you, and will walk in my ways, and do that which is right in my eyes, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did, that I will be with you, and will build you a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel to you.
39I will afflict the offspring of David for this, but not forever.’”
40Therefore Solomon sought to kill Jeroboam, but Jeroboam arose and fled into Egypt, to Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.
41Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, aren’t they written in the book of the acts of Solomon?
42The time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.
43Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in his father David’s city; and Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.
