Pero el rey Salomón amó apasionadamente muchas mujeres extranjeras; y especialmente a la hija del faraón, a las mujeres moabitas y amonitas, idumeas, sidonias y heteas,

EMPERO el rey Salomón amó, á más de la hija de Faraón, muchas mujeres extranjeras: á las de Moab, á las de Ammón, á las de Idumea, á las de Sidón, y á las Hetheas;

But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;

naciones de las cuales mandó el Señor a los hijos de Israel: No tomaréis de ellas mujeres para vosotros, ni ellos se casarán con las vuestras; porque infaliblemente pervertirán vuestros corazones, para que sigáis a sus dioses. A tales mujeres, pues, se unió Salomón con un amor ardentísimo;

Gentes de las cuales Jehová había dicho á los hijos de Israel: No entraréis á ellas, ni ellas entrarán á vosotros; porque ciertamente harán inclinar vuestros corazones tras sus dioses. A éstas pues se juntó Salomón con amor.

Entonces fue cuando erigió Salomón un templo a Samos, ídolo de Moab, sobre el monte que está enfrente de Jerusalén , y a Moloc, ídolo de los hijos de Amón.

Y a este tenor complació a todas sus mujeres extranjeras; las cuales quemaban inciensos y ofrecían sacrificios a sus dioses.

Por lo que se irritó el Señor contra Salomón , porque había enajenado su corazón del Señor Dios de Israel que por dos veces se le había aparecido,

y amonestado particularmente sobre no seguir a dioses ajenos; mas él no guardó el mandato del Señor.

And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.

Dijo, pues, el Señor a Salomón : Porque te has portado así, y no has guardado mi pacto y los preceptos que te di, rasgaré y dividiré tu reino, y se lo daré a un siervo tuyo.

Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.

Therefore the LORD said to Solomon, “Because this is done by you, and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant.

Mas no lo ejecutaré en tus días por amor de David, tu padre; lo desmembraré cuando se halle en poder de tu hijo;

Empero no lo haré en tus días, por amor de David tu padre: romperélo de la mano de tu hijo.

Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father’s sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.

aunque no se lo quitaré todo entero, sino que dejaré a tu hijo una tribu, por amor de David, mi siervo, y de Jerusalén , mi ciudad escogida.

Sin embargo no romperé todo el reino, sino que daré una tribu á tu hijo, por amor de David mi siervo, y por amor de Jerusalem que yo he elegido.

Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.

Suscitó, pues, el Señor por enemigo de Salomón a Adad, idumeo, de sangre real, que habitaba en Edom.

Y Jehová suscitó un adversario á Salomón, á Adad, Idumeo, de la sangre real, el cual estaba en Edom.

And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king’s seed in Edom.

Porque sucedió que habiendo estado David en la Idumea, e ido allí Joab, general del ejército, a dar sepultura a los que habían sido muertos, y pasar a cuchillo a todos los idumeos del sexo masculino

este Adad escapó, acompañado de algunos idumeos, criados de su padre, y fue a refugiarse en Egipto. Era entonces Adad todavía niño de pocos años.

Y Adad cayó tanto en gracia al faraón que lo casó con una hermana carnal de la reina Tafnes, su esposa.

De esta hermana de Tafnes tuvo un hijo llamado Genubat, al cual crió Tafnes en el palacio del faraón; de suerte que Genubat vivía en el palacio del faraón con los hijos del rey.

Y la hermana de Thaphnes le parió á su hijo Genubath, al cual destetó Thaphnes dentro de la casa de Faraón; y estaba Genubath en casa de Faraón entre los hijos de Faraón.

Y cuando supo Adad que David había ido a descansar en el sepulcro con sus padres, y que había también muerto Joab, general de sus tropas, dijo al faraón: Déjame volver a mi patria.

Le dijo el faraón: Pues, ¿qué te falta en mi casa, para que quieras irte a tu país? A lo que contestó Adad: Nada; sin embargo te ruego que me des licencia para ir allá.

Y respondióle Faraón: ¿Por qué? ¿qué te falta conmigo, que procuras irte á tu tierra? Y él respondió: Nada; con todo, ruégote que me dejes ir.

Then Pharaoh said unto him, But what hast thou lacked with me, that, behold, thou seekest to go to thine own country? And he answered, Nothing: howbeit let me go in any wise.

Then Pharaoh said to him, “But what have you lacked with me, that behold, you seek to go to your own country?” He answered, “Nothing, however only let me depart.”

También le suscitó Dios a Salomón otro enemigo que fue Razón, hijo de Elíada, el cual había huido de Adarecer, rey de Soba, su señor.

Despertóle también Dios por adversario á Rezón, hijo de Eliada, el cual había huído de su amo Adad-ezer, rey de Soba.

And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:

Y juntó gente contra él, y se hizo capitán de ladrones o de guerrillas; a los cuales hacía David cruda guerra. Se retiraron después a Damasco y habitaron allí e hicieron rey de Damasco a Razón.

Y había juntado gente contra él, y habíase hecho capitán de una compañía, cuando David deshizo á los de Soba. Después se fueron á Damasco, y habitaron allí, é hiciéronle rey en Damasco.

And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David slew them of Zobah: and they went to Damascus, and dwelt therein, and reigned in Damascus.

Y fue Razón enemigo de Israel todo el reinado de Salomón ; y éste fue otro azote con el de Adad, por el odio contra Israel, después que reinó en la Siria.

And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.

Asimismo Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, efrateo, de Sareda, criado de Salomón , cuya madre era una mujer viuda llamada Sarva, se sublevó contra el rey.

La causa de esta rebelión fue porque Salomón edificó a Mello, y terraplenó la hondonada o valle de la ciudad de David, su padre.

Y la causa por qué éste alzó mano contra el rey, fué esta: Salomón edificando á Millo, cerró el portillo de la ciudad de David su padre.

Era Jeroboam hombre valiente y poderoso; y Salomón viéndolo mozo de buena índole y activo, le había dado la superintendencia de los tributos de toda la casa de José.

And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.

Sucedió, pues, en aquel tiempo, que saliendo Jeroboam de Jerusalén , se encontró con él en el camino Ahías, silonita, profeta, que llevaba una capa nueva; y estaban los dos solos en el campo.

And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:

si bien le dejaré a él para su hijo una tribu por amor de mi siervo David, y de Jerusalén , ciudad que yo tengo escogida entre todas las tribus de Israel.

(Y él tendrá una tribu, por amor de David mi siervo, y por amor de Jerusalem, ciudad que yo he elegido de todas las tribus de Israel:)

Porque me ha abandonado a mí, y ha adorado a Artasté, diosa de los sidonios, y a Camos, dios de Moab, y a Moloc, dios de los hijos de Amón; y no ha seguido mis caminos practicando la justicia en mi presencia, y mis mandamientos, y mis leyes, como su padre David.

Por cuanto me han dejado, y han adorado á Astharoth diosa de los Sidonios, y á Chêmos dios de Moab, y á Moloch dios de los hijos de Ammón; y no han andado en mis caminos, para hacer lo recto delante de mis ojos, y mis estatutos, y mis derechos, como hizo David su padre.

Quitaré, sí, el reino de las manos de su hijo, y te daré a ti diez tribus.

Mas yo quitaré el reino de la mano de su hijo, y darélo á ti, las diez tribus.

But I will take the kingdom out of his son’s hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.

Pero a ti yo te levantaré, y reinarás a medida de tus deseos, y serás rey de Israel.

Ahora bien, si tú obedecieres todo cuanto yo te mandare, y siguieres mis caminos, e hicieres lo que es recto a mis ojos, guardando mis mandamientos y mis preceptos, como lo hizo David, mi siervo, yo seré contigo, y te fundaré una casa estable, como la edifiqué a David, y te haré señor de Israel.

Y será que, si prestares oído á todas las cosas que te mandare, y anduvieres en mis caminos, é hicieres lo recto delante de mis ojos, guardando mis estatutos y mis mandamientos, como hizo David mi siervo, yo seré contigo, y te edificaré casa firme, como la edifiqué á David, y yo te entregaré á Israel.

And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.

It shall be, if you will listen to all that I command you, and will walk in my ways, and do that which is right in my eyes, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did, that I will be with you, and will build you a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel to you.

Y con esto humillaré el linaje de David, aunque no para siempre.

Y yo afligiré la simiente de David á causa de esto, mas no para siempre.

And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.

De aquí fue que Salomón intentó hacer matar a Jeroboam; mas éste se escapó y fue a refugiarse en Egipto cerca de Sesac, rey de Egipto, y allí estuvo hasta la muerte de Salomón .

Procuró por tanto Salomón de matar á Jeroboam, pero levantándose Jeroboam, huyó á Egipto, á Sisac rey de Egipto, y estuvo en Egipto hasta la muerte de Salomón.

Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.

En orden a las demás cosas de Salomón , y todos sus hechos y sabiduría, todo está escrito en el Libro de los Anales del Reinado de Salomón .

El tiempo que reinó Salomón en Jerusalén sobre todo Israel fue de cuarenta años.
