Roboam fue a Siquem, porque todo Israel fue a Siquem para proclamarlo rey.

Y FUÉ Roboam á Sichêm; porque todo Israel había venido á Sichêm para hacerlo rey.

And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king.

Sucedió que cuando lo oyó Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, quien vivía en Egipto, porque aún estaba en Egipto, adonde huyó de la presencia del rey Salomón,

Y aconteció, que como lo oyó Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, que estaba en Egipto, porque había huído de delante del rey Salomón, y habitaba en Egipto;

And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it, (for he was fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt;)

When Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it (for he was yet in Egypt, where he had fled from the presence of King Solomon, and Jeroboam lived in Egypt;

mandaron a llamarlo. Jeroboam llegó con toda la congregación de Israel para hablar a Roboam:

Enviaron y llamáronle. Vino pues Jeroboam y toda la congregación de Israel, y hablaron á Roboam, diciendo:

That they sent and called him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying,

Tu padre agravó nuestro yugo. Ahora, disminuye tú el duro trabajo de esclavo de tu padre, para que el pesado yugo que nos impuso sea más llevadero, y te serviremos.

Tu padre agravó nuestro yugo, mas ahora tú disminuye algo de la dura servidumbre de tu padre, y del yugo pesado que puso sobre nosotros, y te serviremos.

Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.

“Your father made our yoke difficult. Now therefore make the hard service of your father, and his heavy yoke which he put on us, lighter, and we will serve you.”

Él les dijo: ¡Vuelvan a mí dentro de tres días! Y el pueblo se retiró.

Y él les dijo: Idos, y de aquí á tres días volved á mí. Y el pueblo se fué.

And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.

He said to them, “Depart for three days, then come back to me.” So the people departed.

El rey Roboam consultó a los ancianos que estuvieron delante de su padre Salomón cuando aún vivía: ¿Cómo aconsejan que responda a este pueblo?

Entonces el rey Roboam tomó consejo con los ancianos que habían estado delante de Salomón su padre cuando vivía, y dijo: ¿Cómo aconsejáis vosotros que responda á este pueblo?

And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people?

King Rehoboam took counsel with the old men who had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, “What counsel do you give me to answer these people?”

Y ellos le respondieron: Si te constituyes hoy en siervo de este pueblo, los atiendes y les hablas palabras, entonces serán tus esclavos por siempre.

Y ellos le hablaron, diciendo: Si tú fueres hoy siervo de este pueblo, y lo sirvieres, y respondiéndole buenas palabras les hablares, ellos te servirán para siempre.

And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.

They replied, “If you will be a servant to this people today, and will serve them, and answer them with good words, then they will be your servants forever.”

Pero Roboam rechazó el consejo que le dieron los ancianos y consultó a los jóvenes que crecieron con él y le servían.

Mas él, dejado el consejo de los viejos que ellos le habían dado, tomó consejo con los mancebos que se habían criado con él, y estaban delante de él.

But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:

But he abandoned the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.

Y les preguntó: ¿Qué aconsejan ustedes que respondamos a este pueblo que me habló: Alivia el yugo que tu padre impuso sobre nosotros?

Y díjoles: ¿Cómo aconsejáis vosotros que respondamos á este pueblo, que me ha hablado, diciendo: Disminuye algo del yugo que tu padre puso sobre nosotros?

And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?

He said to them, “What counsel do you give, that we may answer these people who have spoken to me, saying, ‘Make the yoke that your father put on us lighter’?”

Y los jóvenes que crecieron con él le respondieron: Así dirás a esta gente que habló contigo: Tu padre agravó nuestro yugo, pero tú, hazlo más llevadero. Así les hablarás: Mi meñique es más grueso que la cintura de mi padre.

Entonces los mancebos que se habían criado con él, le respondieron, diciendo: Así hablarás á este pueblo que te ha dicho estas palabras: Tu padre agravó nuestro yugo; mas tú disminúyenos algo: así les hablarás: El menor dedo de los míos es más grueso que los lomos de mi padre.

And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father’s loins.

The young men who had grown up with him said to him, “Tell these people who spoke to you, saying, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but make it lighter to us’—tell them, ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist.

Ahora, si mi padre los afligió con yugo pesado, yo lo haré aun más pesado. Mi padre los castigó con azotes, pero yo los castigaré con escorpiones.

Ahora pues, mi padre os cargó de pesado yugo, mas yo añadiré á vuestro yugo; mi padre os hirió con azotes, mas yo os heriré con escorpiones.

And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

Now my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, but I will add to your yoke. My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.’”

Al tercer día Jeroboam llegó con todo el pueblo a Roboam, como el rey dispuso, al decir: Vuelvan a mí el tercer día.

Y al tercer día vino Jeroboam con todo el pueblo á Roboam; según el rey lo había mandado, diciendo: Volved á mí al tercer día.

So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day.

So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king asked, saying, “Come to me again the third day.”

Entonces el rey respondió al pueblo de mal modo y rechazó el consejo que le dieron los ancianos.

Y el rey respondió al pueblo duramente, dejado el consejo de los ancianos que ellos le habían dado;

And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men’s counsel that they gave him;

The king answered the people roughly, and abandoned the counsel of the old men which they had given him,

Siguió el consejo de los jóvenes y les habló: Mi padre les impuso su pesado yugo, pero yo lo impondré aun más pesado. Mi padre los castigó con azotes, pero yo los castigaré con escorpiones.

Y hablóles conforme al consejo de los mancebos, diciendo: Mi padre agravó vuestro yugo, pero yo añadiré á vuestro yugo; mi padre os hirió con azotes, mas yo os heriré con escorpiones.

And spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

and spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men, saying, “My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke. My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.”

Así que el rey no hizo caso al pueblo, porque esto estaba dispuesto de parte de Yavé, para que se cumpliera la Palabra que habló por medio de Ahías silonita a Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat.

Y no oyó el rey al pueblo; porque era ordenación de Jehová, para confirmar su palabra, que Jehová había hablado por medio de Ahías Silonita á Jeroboam hijo de Nabat.

Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

So the king didn’t listen to the people; for it was a thing brought about from the LORD, that he might establish his word, which the LORD spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

Cuando todo Israel vio que el rey no los escuchó, el pueblo le respondió al rey: ¿Qué parte tenemos nosotros con David? ¡No tenemos heredad con el hijo de Isaí! ¡Israel, a tus tiendas! ¡Ahora ten cuidado de tu propia casa, David! E Israel fue a sus tiendas.

Y cuando todo el pueblo vió que el rey no les había oído, respondióle estas palabras, diciendo: ¿Qué parte tenemos nosotros con David? No tenemos heredad en el hijo de Isaí. ¡Israel, á tus estancias! ¡Provee ahora en tu casa, David! Entonces Israel se fué á sus estancias.

So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.

When all Israel saw that the king didn’t listen to them, the people answered the king, saying, “What portion have we in David? We don’t have an inheritance in the son of Jesse. To your tents, Israel! Now see to your own house, David.” So Israel departed to their tents.

Pero en cuanto a los hijos de Israel que vivían en las ciudades de Judá, Roboam siguió reinando sobre ellos.

Mas reinó Roboam sobre los hijos de Israel que moraban en las ciudades de Judá.

But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.

But as for the children of Israel who lived in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.

Después el rey Roboam envió a Adoram, quien estaba a cargo del tributo. Pero todo Israel lo apedreó de tal modo que murió. El mismo rey Roboam tuvo que apresurarse a subir en una carroza para huir a Jerusalén.

Y el rey Roboam envió á Adoram, que estaba sobre los tributos; pero apedreóle todo Israel, y murió. Entonces el rey Roboam se esforzó á subir en un carro, y huir á Jerusalem.

Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.

Then King Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the men subject to forced labor; and all Israel stoned him to death with stones. King Rehoboam hurried to get himself up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.

De esta manera Israel se rebeló contra la casa de David hasta hoy.

Así se apartó Israel de la casa de David hasta hoy.

So Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.

So Israel rebelled against David’s house to this day.

Aconteció que cuando todo Israel oyó que Jeroboam volvió, lo mandaron a llamar ante la asamblea y lo ungieron como rey de todo Israel. No quedó quien siguiera a la casa de David, excepto la tribu de Judá.

Y aconteció, que oyendo todo Israel que Jeroboam había vuelto, enviaron y llamáronle á la congregación, é hiciéronle rey sobre todo Israel, sin quedar tribu alguna que siguiese la casa de David, sino sólo la tribu de Judá.

And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was come again, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.

When all Israel heard that Jeroboam had returned, they sent and called him to the congregation, and made him king over all Israel. There was no one who followed David’s house, except for the tribe of Judah only.

Roboam llegó a Jerusalén. Mandó congregar a 180.000 guerreros escogidos de toda la casa de Judá y la tribu de Benjamín para combatir contra la casa de Israel y devolver el reino a Roboam, hijo de Salomón.

Y como Roboam vino á Jerusalem, juntó toda la casa de Judá y la tribu de Benjamín, ciento y ochenta mil hombres escogidos de guerra, para hacer guerra á la casa de Israel, y reducir el reino á Roboam hijo de Salomón.

And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, with the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.

Pero la Palabra de ʼElohim vino a Semaías, varón de ʼElohim:

Mas fué palabra de Jehová á Semeías varón de Dios, diciendo:

But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

Habla a Roboam, hijo de Salomón, rey de Judá, y a toda la casa de Judá y de Benjamín, y al resto del pueblo:

Habla á Roboam hijo de Salomón, rey de Judá, y á toda la casa de Judá y de Benjamín, y á los demás del pueblo, diciendo:

Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

“Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, saying,

Yavé dice: No suban ni combatan contra sus hermanos, los hijos de Israel. Vuelva cada uno a su casa, porque de parte mía sucedió esto. Y ellos escucharon la Palabra de Yavé y desistieron de ir, según la Palabra de Yavé.

Así ha dicho Jehová: No vayáis, ni peleéis contra vuestros hermanos los hijos de Israel; volveos cada uno á su casa; porque este negocio yo lo he hecho. Y ellos oyeron la palabra de Dios, y volviéronse, y fuéronse, conforme á la palabra de Jehová.

Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They hearkened therefore to the word of the LORD, and returned to depart, according to the word of the LORD.

‘The LORD says, “You shall not go up or fight against your brothers, the children of Israel. Everyone return to his house; for this thing is from me.”’” So they listened to the LORD’s word, and returned and went their way, according to the LORD’s word.

Entonces Jeroboam reedificó Siquem en la región montañosa de Efraín, y vivió en ella. De allí fue y reedificó Penuel.

Y reedificó Jeroboam á Sichêm en el monte de Ephraim, y habitó en ella; y saliendo de allí, reedificó á Penuel.

Then Jeroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and went out from thence, and built Penuel.

Then Jeroboam built Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and lived in it; and he went out from there and built Penuel.

Pero Jeroboam decía en su corazón: Ahora volverá el reino a la casa de David.

Y dijo Jeroboam en su corazón: Ahora se volverá el reino á la casa de David,

And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David:

Jeroboam said in his heart, “Now the kingdom will return to David’s house.

Si este pueblo va a ofrecer sacrificios en la Casa de Yavé en Jerusalén, el corazón de este pueblo se volverá a su ʼadón, a Roboam, rey de Judá. Me matarán y se volverán a Roboam, rey de Judá.

Si este pueblo subiere á sacrificar á la casa de Jehová en Jerusalem: porque el corazón de este pueblo se convertirá á su señor Roboam rey de Judá, y me matarán á mí, y se tornarán á Roboam rey de Judá.

If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah.

If this people goes up to offer sacrifices in the LORD’s house at Jerusalem, then the heart of this people will turn again to their lord, even to Rehoboam king of Judah; and they will kill me, and return to Rehoboam king of Judah.”

Cuando fue aconsejado, el rey hizo dos becerros de oro y les dijo: ¡Bastante subieron a Jerusalén! ¡Aquí están tus ʼelohim, oh Israel, los cuales te sacaron de la tierra de Egipto!

Y habido consejo, hizo el rey dos becerros de oro, y dijo al pueblo: Harto habéis subido á Jerusalem: he aquí tus dioses, oh Israel, que te hicieron subir de la tierra de Egipto.

Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

So the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold; and he said to them, “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Look and behold your gods, Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt!”

Puso uno en Bet-ʼEl y el otro en Dan.

Y puso el uno en Beth-el, y el otro puso en Dan.

And he set the one in Beth-el, and the other put he in Dan.

He set the one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan.

Esto fue ocasión de pecado, porque el pueblo iba aun hasta Dan a postrarse.

Y esto fué ocasión de pecado; porque el pueblo iba á adorar delante del uno, hasta Dan.

And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.

This thing became a sin, for the people went even as far as Dan to worship before the one there.

También hizo templos en los lugares altos e instituyó sacerdotes de entre la gente común, que no eran hijos de Leví.

Hizo también casa de altos, é hizo sacerdotes de la clase del pueblo, que no eran de los hijos de Leví.

And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.

He made houses of high places, and made priests from among all the people, who were not of the sons of Levi.

Jeroboam estableció una solemnidad el día 15 del mes octavo, semejante a la solemnidad que había en Judá. Fue al altar que hizo en Bet-ʼEl para ofrecer sacrificios a los becerros que hizo y holocaustos sobre el altar. También estableció sacerdotes en Bet-ʼEl para los lugares altos que hicieron.

Entonces instituyó Jeroboam solemnidad en el mes octavo, á los quince del mes, conforme á la solemnidad que se celebraba en Judá; y sacrificó sobre altar. Así hizo en Beth-el, sacrificando á los becerros que había hecho. Ordenó también en Beth-el sacerdotes de los altos que él había fabricado.

And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Beth-el, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Beth-el the priests of the high places which he had made.

El día 15 del mes octavo, fecha que ideó por su iniciativa propia, fue al altar que hizo en Bet-ʼEl e instituyó una solemnidad para los hijos de Israel. Fue al altar para quemar incienso.

Sacrificó pues sobre el altar que él había hecho en Beth-el, á los quince del mes octavo, el mes que él había inventado de su corazón; é hizo fiesta á los hijos de Israel, y subió al altar para quemar perfumes.

So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Beth-el the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.

He went up to the altar which he had made in Bethel on the fifteenth day in the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and he ordained a feast for the children of Israel, and went up to the altar to burn incense.
