Mas he aquí que mientras Jeroboam estaba en el altar y echaba el incienso, llegó de Judá a Betel por orden del Señor un varón de Dios,

Y HE aquí que un varón de Dios por palabra de Jehová vino de Judá á Beth-el; y estando Jeroboam al altar para quemar perfumes,

And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the LORD unto Beth-el: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense.

Behold, a man of God came out of Judah by the LORD’s word to Bethel; and Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense.

y exclamó contra el altar, diciendo de parte del Señor: Altar, altar, oye lo que dice el Señor: Tiempo vendrá en que ha de nacer en la familia de David un hijo que se llamará Josías; el cual hará degollar sobre ti los sacerdotes de los lugares altos, que ahora queman sobre ti inciensos, y él quemará sobre ti huesos de hombres.

El clamó contra el altar por palabra de Jehová, y dijo: Altar, altar, así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí que á la casa de David nacerá un hijo, llamado Josías, el cual sacrificará sobre ti á los sacerdotes de los altos que queman sobre ti perfumes; y sobre ti quemarán huesos de hombres.

And he cried against the altar in the word of the LORD, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the LORD; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men’s bones shall be burnt upon thee.

He cried against the altar by the LORD’s word, and said, “Altar! Altar! The LORD says: ‘Behold, a son will be born to David’s house, Josiah by name. On you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and they will burn men’s bones on you.’”

Y al mismo tiempo, en prueba de la verdad de su predicción, añadió: Esta será la señal que os hará conocer que Dios es quien os habla: He aquí que va a partirse el altar, y se derramará la ceniza que hay en él.

Y aquel mismo día dió una señal, diciendo: Esta es la señal de que Jehová ha hablado: he aquí que el altar se quebrará, y la ceniza que sobre él está se derramará.

And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the LORD hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.

He gave a sign the same day, saying, “This is the sign which the LORD has spoken: Behold, the altar will be split apart, and the ashes that are on it will be poured out.”

Así que oyó el rey las palabras que el varón de Dios pronunció en alta voz contra el altar de Betel, extendió su mano desde el altar, diciendo: Prended a ése. Mas al punto se le secó la mano que había extendido contra el profeta, y no pudo retirarla hacia sí.

Y como el rey Jeroboam oyó la palabra del varón de Dios, que había clamado contra el altar de Beth-el, extendiendo su mano desde el altar, dijo: ¡Prendedle! Mas la mano que había extendido contra él, se le secó, que no la pudo tornar á sí.

And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Beth-el, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him.

When the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar in Bethel, Jeroboam put out his hand from the altar, saying, “Seize him!” His hand, which he put out against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back again to himself.

Al mismo tiempo se hizo pedazos el altar, y se derramó la ceniza que había en él, conforme a la señal que había predicho el varón de Dios en nombre del Señor.

Y el altar se rompió, y derramóse la ceniza del altar, conforme á la señal que el varón de Dios había dado por palabra de Jehová.

The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.

The altar was also split apart, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the LORD’s word.

Dijo entonces el rey al varón de Dios: Ruega al Señor Dios tuyo, y ora por mí, para que me sea restituida mi mano. Hizo el varón de Dios oración al Señor, y el rey recobró su mano, y quedó como antes estaba.

Entonces respondiendo el rey, dijo al varón de Dios: Te pido que ruegues á la faz de Jehová tu Dios, y ora por mí, que mi mano me sea restituída. Y el varón de Dios oró á la faz de Jehová, y la mano del rey se le recuperó, y tornóse como antes.

And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.

The king answered the man of God, “Now intercede for the favor of the LORD your God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me.” The man of God interceded with the LORD, and the king’s hand was restored to him, and became as it was before.

Por lo que dijo el rey al varón de Dios: Ven conmigo a casa a comer, y te llenaré de regalos.

Y el rey dijo al varón de Dios: Ven conmigo á casa, y comerás, y yo te daré un presente.

And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward.

The king said to the man of God, “Come home with me and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward.”

Mas el varón de Dios respondió al rey: Aunque me dieras la mitad de tu casa no iría yo contigo, ni comería pan, ni bebería agua en este lugar;

Mas el varón de Dios dijo al rey: Si me dieses la mitad de tu casa, no iría contigo, ni comería pan ni bebería agua en este lugar;

And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place:

The man of God said to the king, “Even if you gave me half of your house, I would not go in with you, neither would I eat bread nor drink water in this place;

porque así me lo tiene mandado expresamente el Señor con este precepto: No comerás allí pan, ni beberás agua, ni te volverás por el mismo camino que fuiste.

Porque así me está mandado por palabra de Jehová, diciendo: No comas pan, ni bebas agua, ni vuelvas por el camino que fueres.

For so was it charged me by the word of the LORD, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest.

for so was it commanded me by the LORD’s word, saying, ‘You shall eat no bread, drink no water, and don’t return by the way that you came.’”

Y en efecto, se fue por otro camino, y no volvió por el mismo que había tomado viniendo a Betel.

Fuése pues por otro camino, y no volvió por el camino por donde había venido á Beth-el.

So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Beth-el.

So he went another way, and didn’t return by the way that he came to Bethel.

Moraba a la sazón en Betel cierto profeta anciano; a quien fueron sus hijos y le contaron todo lo que aquel día había hecho en Betel el varón de Dios, refiriendo a su padre las palabras que había hablado al rey.

Moraba á la sazón en Beth-el un viejo profeta, al cual vino su hijo, y contóle todo lo que el varón de Dios había hecho aquel día en Beth-el: contáronle también á su padre las palabras que había hablado al rey.

Now there dwelt an old prophet in Beth-el; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Beth-el: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their father.

Now an old prophet lived in Bethel, and one of his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel. They also told their father the words which he had spoken to the king.

Les dijo su padre: ¿Qué camino tomó? Le mostraron sus hijos el camino por donde se había vuelto el varón de Dios que había venido de Judá.

Y su padre les dijo: ¿Por qué camino fué? Y sus hijos le mostraron el camino por donde se había tornado el varón de Dios, que había venido de Judá.

And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah.

Their father said to them, “Which way did he go?” Now his sons had seen which way the man of God went, who came from Judah.

Y dijo a sus hijos: Aparejadme el asno. Y habiéndole ellos aparejado, montó en él,

Y él dijo á sus hijos: Enalbardadme el asno. Y ellos le enalbardaron el asno, y subió en él.

And he said unto his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass: and he rode thereon,

He said to his sons, “Saddle the donkey for me.” So they saddled the donkey for him; and he rode on it.

y fue en busca del siervo de Dios; y lo halló sentado a la sombra de un terebinto, y le dijo: ¿Eres tú el varón de Dios, que vino de Judá? Yo soy, le respondió.

Y yendo tras el varón de Dios, hallóle que estaba sentado debajo de un alcornoque: y díjole: ¿Eres tú el varón de Dios que viniste de Judá? Y él dijo: Yo soy.

And went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak: and he said unto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I am.

He went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak. He said to him, “Are you the man of God who came from Judah?” He said, “I am.”

Pues ven conmigo, dijo, a casa a tomar un bocado.

Díjole entonces: Ven conmigo á casa, y come del pan.

Then he said unto him, Come home with me, and eat bread.

Then he said to him, “Come home with me and eat bread.”

Mas él le respondió: Yo no puedo volver atrás, ni ir contigo, ni comeré pan, ni beberé agua en este lugar;

Mas él respondió: No podré volver contigo, ni iré contigo; ni tampoco comeré pan ni beberé agua contigo en este lugar;

And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place:

He said, “I may not return with you, nor go in with you. I will not eat bread or drink water with you in this place.

por cuanto el Señor me habló de su propia boca, diciendo: No comas allí pan, ni bebas agua, ni vuelvas por el camino por donde fueres.

Porque por palabra de Dios me ha sido dicho: No comas pan ni bebas agua allí, ni vuelvas por el camino que fueres.

For it was said to me by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest.

For it was said to me by the LORD’s word, ‘You shall eat no bread or drink water there, and don’t turn again to go by the way that you came.’”

Le dijo el otro: Yo también soy profeta como tú; y un ángel me ha venido a decir en nombre del Señor: Hazle volver contigo a tu casa, para que coma pan y beba agua. Lo engañó,

Y el otro le dijo: Yo también soy profeta como tú, y un ángel me ha hablado por palabra de Jehová, diciendo: Vuélvele contigo á tu casa, para que coma pan y beba agua. Empero mintióle.

He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.

He said to him, “I also am a prophet as you are; and an angel spoke to me by the LORD’s word, saying, ‘Bring him back with you into your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.’” He lied to him.

y lo hizo volver consigo. Comió, pues, el pan en su casa, y bebió el agua.

Entonces volvió con él, y comió del pan en su casa, y bebió del agua.

So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water.

So he went back with him, ate bread in his house, and drank water.

Y cuando estaban sentados a la mesa, el Señor habló al profeta que había hecho volver atrás al otro;

Y aconteció que, estando ellos á la mesa, fué palabra de Jehová al profeta que le había hecho volver;

And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of the LORD came unto the prophet that brought him back:

As they sat at the table, the LORD’s word came to the prophet who brought him back;

y exclamó dicho profeta y dijo al varón de Dios, venido de Judá: Esto dice el Señor: Porque has sido desobediente a la orden expresa del Señor, y no has guardado el mandamiento que te dio el Señor Dios tuyo,

Y clamó al varón de Dios que había venido de Judá, diciendo: Así dijo Jehová: Por cuanto has sido rebelde al dicho de Jehová, y no guardaste el mandamiento que Jehová tu Dios te había prescrito,

And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the LORD, and hast not kept the commandment which the LORD thy God commanded thee,

and he cried out to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, “The LORD says, ‘Because you have been disobedient to the LORD’s word, and have not kept the commandment which the LORD your God commanded you,

sino que has vuelto atrás, y comido el pan, y bebido el agua en este lugar, en el que Dios te mandó no comer pan ni beber agua, no será llevado tu cadáver al sepulcro de tus padres.

Sino que volviste, y comiste del pan y bebiste del agua en el lugar donde Jehová te había dicho no comieses pan ni bebieses agua, no entrará tu cuerpo en el sepulcro de tus padres.

But camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of the which the Lord did say to thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy carcase shall not come unto the sepulchre of thy fathers.

but came back, and have eaten bread and drank water in the place of which he said to you, “Eat no bread, and drink no water,” your body will not come to the tomb of your fathers.’”

Después que el varón de Dios, a quien hizo volver atrás, hubo comido y bebido, el profeta anciano le aparejó el asno.

Y como hubo comido del pan y bebido, el profeta que le había hecho volver le enalbardó un asno;

And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass, to wit, for the prophet whom he had brought back.

After he had eaten bread and after he drank, he saddled the donkey for the prophet whom he had brought back.

Y luego que partió, lo encontró un león por el camino y lo mató, y quedó su cadáver tendido en medio del camino. Estaba el asno parado junto a él, y el león se estaba también cerca del cadáver.

Y yéndose, topóle un león en el camino, y matóle; y su cuerpo estaba echado en el camino, y el asno estaba junto á él, y el león también estaba junto al cuerpo.

And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his carcase was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the carcase.

When he had gone, a lion met him by the way and killed him. His body was thrown on the path, and the donkey stood by it. The lion also stood by the body.

En esto sucedió que unos pasajeros vieron el cadáver tendido en el camino, y al león parado junto al cadáver; y fueron y divulgaron esto en la ciudad donde habitaba aquel anciano profeta.

Y he aquí unos que pasaban, y vieron el cuerpo que estaba echado en el camino, y el león que estaba junto al cuerpo: y vinieron, y dijéronlo en la ciudad donde el viejo profeta habitaba.

And, behold, men passed by, and saw the carcase cast in the way, and the lion standing by the carcase: and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet dwelt.

Behold, men passed by and saw the body thrown on the path, and the lion standing by the body; and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet lived.

Oyéndolo, pues, el profeta que lo había hecho volver atrás, dijo: El varón de Dios es, que fue desobediente a la orden del Señor; y el Señor lo entregó a un león que lo ha despedazado y muerto, según se lo había ya anunciado el Señor.

Y oyéndolo el profeta que le había vuelto del camino, dijo: El varón de Dios es, que fué rebelde al dicho de Jehová: por tanto Jehová le ha entregado al león, que le ha quebrantado y muerto, conforme á la palabra de Jehová que él le dijo.

And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the LORD: therefore the LORD hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake unto him.

When the prophet who brought him back from the way heard of it, he said, “It is the man of God who was disobedient to the LORD’s word. Therefore the LORD has delivered him to the lion, which has mauled him and slain him, according to the LORD’s word which he spoke to him.”

En seguida dijo a sus hijos: Aparejadme el asno. Se lo aparejaron;

Y habló á sus hijos, y díjoles: Enalbardadme un asno. Y ellos se lo enalbardaron.

And he spake to his sons, saying, Saddle me the ass. And they saddled him.

He said to his sons, saying, “Saddle the donkey for me,” and they saddled it.

y marchando, halló el cadáver tendido en el camino, y al asno y al león parados junto al cadáver; sin que el león se lo hubiese comido, ni hecho daño al asno.

Y él fué, y halló su cuerpo tendido en el camino, y el asno y el león estaban junto al cuerpo: el león no había comido el cuerpo, ni dañado al asno.

And he went and found his carcase cast in the way, and the ass and the lion standing by the carcase: the lion had not eaten the carcase, nor torn the ass.

He went and found his body thrown on the path, and the donkey and the lion standing by the body. The lion had not eaten the body nor mauled the donkey.

Tomó, pues, el profeta el cadáver del varón de Dios, y lo cargó sobre el asno, y volviéndose se lo llevó consigo a su ciudad para hacerle el duelo;

Y tomando el profeta el cuerpo del varón de Dios, púsolo sobre el asno, y llevóselo. Y el profeta viejo vino á la ciudad, para endecharle y enterrarle.

And the prophet took up the carcase of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and brought it back: and the old prophet came to the city, to mourn and to bury him.

The prophet took up the body of the man of God, and laid it on the donkey, and brought it back. He came to the city of the old prophet to mourn, and to bury him.

y puso el cadáver en su sepulcro, y lo lloraron, y lo endecharon, diciendo: ¡Ay!, ¡ay!, ¡hermano mío!

Y puso su cuerpo en su sepulcro; y endecháronle, diciendo: ¡Ay, hermano mío!

And he laid his carcase in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, Alas, my brother!

He laid his body in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, “Alas, my brother!”

Y después de concluidas las exequias, dijo a sus hijos: Cuando yo muera, enterradme en el sepulcro en que yace el varón de Dios; poned mis huesos junto a los suyos;

Y después que le hubieron enterrado, habló á sus hijos, diciendo: Cuando yo muriere, enterradme en el sepulcro en que está sepultado el varón de Dios; poned mis huesos junto á los suyos.

And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spake to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones:

After he had buried him, he spoke to his sons, saying, “When I am dead, bury me in the tomb in which the man of God is buried. Lay my bones beside his bones.

porque infaliblemente se verificará lo que anunció de parte del Señor contra el altar que está en Betel, y contra todos los adoratorios de las alturas que hay en las ciudades de Samaria.

Porque sin duda vendrá lo que él dijo á voces por palabra de Jehová contra el altar que está en Beth-el, y contra todas las casas de los altos que están en las ciudades de Samaria.

For the saying which he cried by the word of the LORD against the altar in Beth-el, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass.

For the saying which he cried by the LORD’s word against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, will surely happen.”

Después de todos estos sucesos, no se convirtió Jeroboam de su vida perversa; antes al contrario, creó sacerdotes de los lugares altos, hombres del común del pueblo; todo el que quería se consagraba, y quedaba hecho sacerdote de los lugares altos.

Después de esto no se tornó Jeroboam de su mal camino: antes volvió á hacer sacerdotes de los altos de la clase del pueblo, y quien quería se consagraba, y era de los sacerdotes de los altos.

After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.

After this thing, Jeroboam didn’t turn from his evil way, but again made priests of the high places from among all the people. Whoever wanted to, he consecrated him, that there might be priests of the high places.

Este fue el pecado de la casa de Jeroboam, y por eso fue destruida y arrancada de la superficie de la tierra.

Y esto fué causa de pecado á la casa de Jeroboam; por lo cual fué cortada y raída de sobre la haz de la tierra.

And this thing became sin unto the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.

This thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off and to destroy it from off the surface of the earth.
