El Señor ordenó a un hombre de Dios proveniente de Judá para que fuera a Betel. Llegó justo cuando Jeroboam estaba de pie junto al altar a punto de presentar un holocausto.
Y HE aquí que un varón de Dios por palabra de Jehová vino de Judá á Beth-el; y estando Jeroboam al altar para quemar perfumes,
And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the LORD unto Beth-el: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense.
Behold, a man of God came out of Judah by the LORD’s word to Bethel; and Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense.
Gritó la condena del Señor al altar: “Altar, altar, esto es lo que dice el Señor. A la casa de David le nacerá un hijo. Se llamará Josías, y sobre ti sacrificarán los sacerdotes de los altares que queman ofrendas sobre ti, y sobre ti se quemarán huesos humanos”.
El clamó contra el altar por palabra de Jehová, y dijo: Altar, altar, así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí que á la casa de David nacerá un hijo, llamado Josías, el cual sacrificará sobre ti á los sacerdotes de los altos que queman sobre ti perfumes; y sobre ti quemarán huesos de hombres.
And he cried against the altar in the word of the LORD, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the LORD; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men’s bones shall be burnt upon thee.
He cried against the altar by the LORD’s word, and said, “Altar! Altar! The LORD says: ‘Behold, a son will be born to David’s house, Josiah by name. On you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and they will burn men’s bones on you.’”
Ese mismo día el hombre de Dios dio una señal, diciendo: “Esta es la señal que prueba que el Señor ha hablado. ¡Miren! El altar se partirá, y las cenizas que hay sobre él se derramarán”.
Y aquel mismo día dió una señal, diciendo: Esta es la señal de que Jehová ha hablado: he aquí que el altar se quebrará, y la ceniza que sobre él está se derramará.
And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the LORD hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.

Cuando el rey Jeroboam oyó la condena que el hombre de Dios había gritado contra el altar de Betel, le señaló con la mano y dijo: “¡Arréstenlo!” Pero la mano con la que el rey lo había apuntado se paralizó y no podía retirarla.
Y como el rey Jeroboam oyó la palabra del varón de Dios, que había clamado contra el altar de Beth-el, extendiendo su mano desde el altar, dijo: ¡Prendedle! Mas la mano que había extendido contra él, se le secó, que no la pudo tornar á sí.
And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Beth-el, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him.
When the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar in Bethel, Jeroboam put out his hand from the altar, saying, “Seize him!” His hand, which he put out against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back again to himself.
El altar se partió y las cenizas se derramaron de él, cumpliendo la señal que el hombre de Dios había dado de parte del Señor.
Y el altar se rompió, y derramóse la ceniza del altar, conforme á la señal que el varón de Dios había dado por palabra de Jehová.

Entonces el rey le dijo al hombre de Dios: “Por favor, ruega al Señor, tu Dios, que me devuelva la mano”. El hombre de Dios suplicó al Señor, y el rey recuperó el uso de su mano como antes.
Entonces respondiendo el rey, dijo al varón de Dios: Te pido que ruegues á la faz de Jehová tu Dios, y ora por mí, que mi mano me sea restituída. Y el varón de Dios oró á la faz de Jehová, y la mano del rey se le recuperó, y tornóse como antes.
And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.
The king answered the man of God, “Now intercede for the favor of the LORD your God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me.” The man of God interceded with the LORD, and the king’s hand was restored to him, and became as it was before.
Entonces el rey le dijo al hombre de Dios: “Ven a mi casa y come para que pueda darte un regalo”.

Pero el hombre de Dios le dijo al rey: “Aunque me dieras la mitad de todo lo que tienes, no iría contigo. De hecho, me niego a comer o beber nada en este lugar.
Mas el varón de Dios dijo al rey: Si me dieses la mitad de tu casa, no iría contigo, ni comería pan ni bebería agua en este lugar;
And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place:

El Señor me ha ordenado que no coma ni beba nada, y que no regrese por el camino que vine”.
Porque así me está mandado por palabra de Jehová, diciendo: No comas pan, ni bebas agua, ni vuelvas por el camino que fueres.
For so was it charged me by the word of the LORD, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest.

Así que se fue por otro camino y no regresó por donde había venido a Betel.
Fuése pues por otro camino, y no volvió por el camino por donde había venido á Beth-el.
So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Beth-el.

Sucedió que en Betel vivía un viejo profeta. Sus hijos vinieron y le contaron todo lo que el hombre de Dios había hecho ese día en Betel. También le contaron a su padre lo que el hombre le había dicho al rey.
Moraba á la sazón en Beth-el un viejo profeta, al cual vino su hijo, y contóle todo lo que el varón de Dios había hecho aquel día en Beth-el: contáronle también á su padre las palabras que había hablado al rey.
Now there dwelt an old prophet in Beth-el; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Beth-el: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their father.
Now an old prophet lived in Bethel, and one of his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel. They also told their father the words which he had spoken to the king.
“¿Por dónde se fue?” , les preguntó su padre. Entonces sus hijos le mostraron el camino que había tomado el hombre de Dios desde Judá.
Y su padre les dijo: ¿Por qué camino fué? Y sus hijos le mostraron el camino por donde se había tornado el varón de Dios, que había venido de Judá.
And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah.
Their father said to them, “Which way did he go?” Now his sons had seen which way the man of God went, who came from Judah.
“Ensillen un asno para mí”, les dijo a sus hijos. Ellos ensillaron un asno y él subió.
Y él dijo á sus hijos: Enalbardadme el asno. Y ellos le enalbardaron el asno, y subió en él.
And he said unto his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass: and he rode thereon,
He said to his sons, “Saddle the donkey for me.” So they saddled the donkey for him; and he rode on it.
Entonces cabalgó tras el hombre de Dios y lo encontró sentado bajo una encina. “¿Eres tú el hombre de Dios que vino de Judá?” , le preguntó. “Sí, lo soy”, respondió el hombre.
Y yendo tras el varón de Dios, hallóle que estaba sentado debajo de un alcornoque: y díjole: ¿Eres tú el varón de Dios que viniste de Judá? Y él dijo: Yo soy.
And went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak: and he said unto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I am.

“Ven conmigo a casa y come algo”, le dijo.

“No puedo dar la vuelta e ir contigo, y no comeré ni beberé contigo en este lugar”, respondió el hombre de Dios.
Mas él respondió: No podré volver contigo, ni iré contigo; ni tampoco comeré pan ni beberé agua contigo en este lugar;
And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place:
He said, “I may not return with you, nor go in with you. I will not eat bread or drink water with you in this place.
“El Señor me ha ordenado: ‘no comas ni bebas nada allí, ni te vuelvas por donde has venido’”.
Porque por palabra de Dios me ha sido dicho: No comas pan ni bebas agua allí, ni vuelvas por el camino que fueres.
For it was said to me by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest.
For it was said to me by the LORD’s word, ‘You shall eat no bread or drink water there, and don’t turn again to go by the way that you came.’”
Pero el viejo profeta le dijo: “Yo también soy profeta, como tú. Un ángel me dijo que Dios había dicho: ‘Llévalo a casa contigo para que tenga algo que comer y beber’”. Pero le estaba mintiendo.
Y el otro le dijo: Yo también soy profeta como tú, y un ángel me ha hablado por palabra de Jehová, diciendo: Vuélvele contigo á tu casa, para que coma pan y beba agua. Empero mintióle.
He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.
He said to him, “I also am a prophet as you are; and an angel spoke to me by the LORD’s word, saying, ‘Bring him back with you into your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.’” He lied to him.
Así que el hombre de Dios volvió con él y comió y bebió en su casa.

Mientras estaban sentados a la mesa, llegó un mensaje del Señor al profeta que lo había traído de vuelta.
Y aconteció que, estando ellos á la mesa, fué palabra de Jehová al profeta que le había hecho volver;
And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of the LORD came unto the prophet that brought him back:
As they sat at the table, the LORD’s word came to the prophet who brought him back;
Este llamó al hombre de Dios que había venido de Judá: “Esto es lo que dice el Señor: Por haber desobedecido la palabra del Señor y no haber seguido las órdenes que el Señor, tu Dios, te dio,
Y clamó al varón de Dios que había venido de Judá, diciendo: Así dijo Jehová: Por cuanto has sido rebelde al dicho de Jehová, y no guardaste el mandamiento que Jehová tu Dios te había prescrito,
And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the LORD, and hast not kept the commandment which the LORD thy God commanded thee,
and he cried out to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, “The LORD says, ‘Because you have been disobedient to the LORD’s word, and have not kept the commandment which the LORD your God commanded you,
y en su lugar volviste y comiste y bebiste en el lugar donde él te dijo que no lo hicieras, tu cuerpo no será enterrado en la tumba de tus padres”.
Sino que volviste, y comiste del pan y bebiste del agua en el lugar donde Jehová te había dicho no comieses pan ni bebieses agua, no entrará tu cuerpo en el sepulcro de tus padres.
But camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of the which the Lord did say to thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy carcase shall not come unto the sepulchre of thy fathers.
but came back, and have eaten bread and drank water in the place of which he said to you, “Eat no bread, and drink no water,” your body will not come to the tomb of your fathers.’”
Cuando el hombre de Dios terminó de comer y beber, el profeta que lo había traído de vuelta le ensilló su propio asno.
Y como hubo comido del pan y bebido, el profeta que le había hecho volver le enalbardó un asno;
And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass, to wit, for the prophet whom he had brought back.

Pero mientras seguía su camino, un león se le cruzó en el camino y lo mató. Su cuerpo quedó tendido en el camino, con el asno y el león de pie junto a él.
Y yéndose, topóle un león en el camino, y matóle; y su cuerpo estaba echado en el camino, y el asno estaba junto á él, y el león también estaba junto al cuerpo.
And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his carcase was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the carcase.
When he had gone, a lion met him by the way and killed him. His body was thrown on the path, and the donkey stood by it. The lion also stood by the body.
Algunos transeúntes vieron el cuerpo tirado en el camino con el león parado al lado, así que fueron a avisar a la gente del pueblo donde vivía el viejo profeta.
Y he aquí unos que pasaban, y vieron el cuerpo que estaba echado en el camino, y el león que estaba junto al cuerpo: y vinieron, y dijéronlo en la ciudad donde el viejo profeta habitaba.
And, behold, men passed by, and saw the carcase cast in the way, and the lion standing by the carcase: and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet dwelt.
Behold, men passed by and saw the body thrown on the path, and the lion standing by the body; and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet lived.
Cuando el viejo profeta que había desviado al otro se enteró de lo sucedido, dijo: “Es el hombre de Dios que desobedeció las órdenes del Señor. Por eso el Señor lo puso en el camino del león, y éste lo ha mutilado y lo ha matado, tal como el Señor le dijo que sucedería”.
Y oyéndolo el profeta que le había vuelto del camino, dijo: El varón de Dios es, que fué rebelde al dicho de Jehová: por tanto Jehová le ha entregado al león, que le ha quebrantado y muerto, conforme á la palabra de Jehová que él le dijo.
And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the LORD: therefore the LORD hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake unto him.
When the prophet who brought him back from the way heard of it, he said, “It is the man of God who was disobedient to the LORD’s word. Therefore the LORD has delivered him to the lion, which has mauled him and slain him, according to the LORD’s word which he spoke to him.”
Entonces el profeta dijo a sus hijos: “Ensillen un asno para mí”. Así que ensillaron un asno,
Y habló á sus hijos, y díjoles: Enalbardadme un asno. Y ellos se lo enalbardaron.
And he spake to his sons, saying, Saddle me the ass. And they saddled him.

y fue a buscar el cadáver. Todavía estaba tirado en el camino, con el asno y el león de pie junto a él. El león no se había comido el cuerpo ni había atacado al asno.
Y él fué, y halló su cuerpo tendido en el camino, y el asno y el león estaban junto al cuerpo: el león no había comido el cuerpo, ni dañado al asno.
And he went and found his carcase cast in the way, and the ass and the lion standing by the carcase: the lion had not eaten the carcase, nor torn the ass.

El profeta recogió el cuerpo del hombre de Dios, lo puso en el asno y lo llevó a su ciudad para llorar por él y enterrarlo.
Y tomando el profeta el cuerpo del varón de Dios, púsolo sobre el asno, y llevóselo. Y el profeta viejo vino á la ciudad, para endecharle y enterrarle.
And the prophet took up the carcase of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and brought it back: and the old prophet came to the city, to mourn and to bury him.

Puso el cuerpo en su propia tumba, y lo lloraron, gritando: “¡Pobre hermano mío!”.

Después de enterrarlo, dijo a sus hijos: “Cuando muera, entiérrenme en la tumba donde está enterrado el hombre de Dios. Coloquen mis huesos junto a los suyos.
Y después que le hubieron enterrado, habló á sus hijos, diciendo: Cuando yo muriere, enterradme en el sepulcro en que está sepultado el varón de Dios; poned mis huesos junto á los suyos.
And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spake to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones:

Porque el mensaje del Señor que dio en condena contra el altar de Betel y contra todos los santuarios de los altares de las ciudades de Samaria, se cumplirá definitivamente”.
Porque sin duda vendrá lo que él dijo á voces por palabra de Jehová contra el altar que está en Beth-el, y contra todas las casas de los altos que están en las ciudades de Samaria.
For the saying which he cried by the word of the LORD against the altar in Beth-el, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass.

Pero aun después de todo esto, Jeroboam no cambió sus malos caminos. Siguió eligiendo sacerdotes de toda clase de personas. Nombró a cualquiera que quisiera ser sacerdote de los altares.
Después de esto no se tornó Jeroboam de su mal camino: antes volvió á hacer sacerdotes de los altos de la clase del pueblo, y quien quería se consagraba, y era de los sacerdotes de los altos.
After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.
After this thing, Jeroboam didn’t turn from his evil way, but again made priests of the high places from among all the people. Whoever wanted to, he consecrated him, that there might be priests of the high places.
A causa de este pecado, la casa de Jeroboam fue borrada, destruida por completo de la faz de la tierra.

And this thing became sin unto the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.
