Al mismo tiempo Roboam, hijo de Salomón , reinó en Judá. Cuarenta y un años tenía Roboam cuando empezó a reinar; y reinó diecisiete años en Jerusalén , ciudad escogida por el Señor entre todas las tribus de Israel, para establecer en ella su culto. Su madre era amonita, y llamábase Naama.
