And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, which told me that I should be king over this people.

Leve para ele um presente de dez pães, alguns bolos de figo e uma garrafa de mel, e pergunte a ele o que vai acontecer ao menino”.

Assim a mulher de Jeroboão foi à casa de Aías em Siló. Aías já estava muito velho, e não podia mais ver.

Mas o Senhor lhe tinha dito: “A mulher de Jeroboão está vindo para perguntar a respeito do filho dela, pois ele está muito doente. Assim e assim você falará a ela. Quando ela chegar, vai fingir ser outra”.

And the LORD said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to ask a thing of thee for her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh in, that she shall feign herself to be another woman.
The LORD said to Ahijah, “Behold, Jeroboam’s wife is coming to inquire of you concerning her son, for he is sick. Tell her such and such; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman.”
Quando Aías ouviu que ela estava na porta da casa, gritou lá de dentro: “Entre, esposa de Jeroboão! Por que está fingindo ser outra pessoa?” E ele continuou: “Tenho notícias tristes para você.
Y como Ahías oyó el sonido de sus pies cuando entraba por la puerta, dijo: Entra, mujer de Jeroboam; ¿por qué te finges otra? empero yo soy enviado á ti con revelación dura.
And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? for I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.

Vá dizer a Jeroboão este recado da parte do Senhor, o Deus de Israel: ‘Tirei você do povo, e fiz de você rei de Israel, o meu povo.

Arranquei o reino da família de Davi e dei esse reino a você, porém você não obedeceu aos meus mandamentos, como o meu servo Davi. O desejo do coração de Davi era de sempre me obedecer de todo o coração e fazer somente o que eu aprovo.

Mas você foi pior do que todos os outros reis antes de você; e fez para si outros deuses, ídolos de metal; você provocou a minha ira e recusou-se a me reconhecer.

“ ‘Por isso, trarei desgraça sobre a casa de Jeroboão e destruirei todos os seus filhos do sexo masculino em Israel. Varrerei a sua família como se varre o esterco de um estábulo.
Por tanto, he aquí que yo traigo mal sobre la casa de Jeroboam, y yo talaré de Jeroboam todo meante á la pared, así el guardado como el desamparado en Israel; y barreré la posteridad de la casa de Jeroboam, como es barrido el estiércol, hasta que sea acabada.
Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.

Todo o Israel chorará a morte dele e o sepultará. Ele é o único membro da família de Jeroboão que terá um fim tranquilo. Pois este menino é o único da família de Jeroboão de quem o Senhor, o Deus de Israel, se agradou.

Então o Senhor agitará Israel como uma cana de junco se agita de um lado para outro numa corrente de água; ele arrancará o povo de Israel desta boa terra que tinha dado a seus antepassados, e o espalhará para além do rio Eufrates, porque o povo provocou o Senhor, com os postes sagrados.
