Elie le Tisbite, un de ceux qui s'étaient établis en Galaad, dit à Achab: "Par le Dieu vivant, divinité d'Israël, à qui s'adressent mes hommages! Il n'y aura, ces années-ci, ni pluie ni rosée, si ce n'est à mon commandement."
ENTONCES Elías Thisbita, que era de los moradores de Galaad, dijo á Achâb: Vive Jehová Dios de Israel, delante del cual estoy, que no habrá lluvia ni rocío en estos años, sino por mi palabra.
And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

Et la parole de l'Eternel lui fut adressée en ces termes:

"Quitte ce lieu, dirige-toi vers l'Orient et cache-toi près du torrent de Kerit, qui fait face au Jourdain.
Apártate de aquí, y vuélvete al oriente, y escóndete en el arroyo de Cherith, que está delante del Jordán;
Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
“Go away from here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan.
Tu boiras de ses eaux, et les corbeaux, sur mon ordre, y pourvoiront à tes besoins."

And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

Il partit et, se conformant à la parole du Seigneur, alla s'établir près du torrent de Kerit en face du Jourdain.
Y él fué, é hizo conforme á la palabra de Jehová; pues se fué y asentó junto al arroyo de Cherith, que está antes del Jordán.
So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

"Lève-toi, va à Sarepta, qui est près de Sidon, et tu t'y établiras. Là est une femme veuve, que j'ai chargée de te nourrir."
Levántate, vete á Sarepta de Sidón, y allí morarás: he aquí yo he mandado allí á una mujer viuda que te sustente.
Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
“Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to sustain you.”
Il se mit en route et alla à Sarepta. Arrivé à l'entrée de la ville, il y vit une veuve qui ramassait du bois; il l'appela et lui dit: "Prends-moi, je te prie, un peu d'eau dans un vase, pour que je boive."
Entonces él se levantó, y se fué á Sarepta. Y como llegó á la puerta de la ciudad, he aquí una mujer viuda que estaba allí cogiendo serojas; y él la llamó, y díjole: Ruégote que me traigas una poca de agua en un vaso, para que beba.
So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

Elle y alla, et il la rappela en disant: "Prends en main, je te prie, une tranche de pain pour moi."
Y yendo ella para traérsela, él la volvió á llamar, y díjole: Ruégote que me traigas también un bocado de pan en tu mano.
And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.

Elle répondit: "Par le Dieu vivant que tu sers! Je n'ai pas une galette, rien qu'une poignée de farine dans une cruche, un peu d'huile dans une bouteille. Je ramasse maintenant deux morceaux de bois; je vais rentrer, je ferai un plat pour moi et mon fils, nous le mangerons et nous attendrons la mort.
Y ella respondió: Vive Jehová Dios tuyo, que no tengo pan cocido; que solamente un puñado de harina tengo en la tinaja, y un poco de aceite en una botija: y ahora cogía dos serojas, para entrarme y aderezarlo para mí y para mi hijo, y que lo comamos, y nos muramos.
And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
She said, “As the LORD your God lives, I don’t have anything baked, but only a handful of meal in a jar and a little oil in a jar. Behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”
Ne crains rien, lui dit Elie, rentre, et fais comme tu l'as dit. Seulement, tu en feras un petit gâteau pour moi d'abord, et tu me l'apporteras; tu feras cuire ensuite pour toi et pour ton fils.
Y Elías le dijo: No hayas temor; ve, haz como has dicho: empero hazme á mí primero de ello una pequeña torta cocida debajo de la ceniza, y tráemela; y después harás para ti y para tu hijo.
And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

Car, ainsi à parlé le Seigneur, Dieu d'Israël: La cruche de farine ne se videra pas, ni la bouteille à l'huile ne diminuera, jusqu'au jour où le Seigneur répandra la pluie sur cette contrée."
Porque Jehová Dios de Israel ha dicho así: La tinaja de la harina no escaseará, ni se disminuirá la botija del aceite, hasta aquel día que Jehová dará lluvia sobre la haz de la tierra.
For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
For the LORD, the God of Israel, says, ‘The jar of meal will not run out, and the jar of oil will not fail, until the day that the LORD sends rain on the earth.’”
Elle s'en alla et fit ce qu'avait dit Elie; et elle eut à manger, elle, son fils et sa famille, pour longtemps.

And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.

Quelque temps après, le fils de cette femme, de la maîtresse du logis, tomba malade, et sa maladie s'aggrava au point qu'il ne lui resta plus de souffle.
Después de estas cosas aconteció que cayó enfermo el hijo del ama de la casa, y la enfermedad fué tan grave, que no quedó en él resuello.
And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.

La mère dit à Elie: "Qu'avons-nous à démêler ensemble, homme de Dieu? Tu es venu chez moi pour réveiller le souvenir de mes fautes et causer la mort de mon fils!"
Y ella dijo á Elías: ¿Qué tengo yo contigo, varón de Dios? ¿has venido á mí para traer en memoria mis iniquidades, y para hacerme morir mi hijo?
And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?
She said to Elijah, “What have I to do with you, you man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to memory, and to kill my son!”
Il lui répondit: "Donne-moi ton fils." Et il le prit d'entre ses bras, le porta dans la chambre haute où il logeait, le coucha sur son propre lit,
Y él le dijo: Dame acá tu hijo. Entonces él lo tomó de su regazo, y llevólo á la cámara donde él estaba, y púsole sobre su cama;
And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.
He said to her, “Give me your son.” He took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into the room where he stayed, and laid him on his own bed.
et invoqua l'Eternel en disant: "Seigneur, mon Dieu! Quoi! Même envers cette veuve, dont je suis l'hôte, tu userais de rigueur, en faisant mourir son fils!"
Y clamando á Jehová, dijo: Jehová Dios mío, ¿aun á la viuda en cuya casa yo estoy hospedado has afligido, matándole su hijo?
And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?
He cried to the LORD and said, “LORD my God, have you also brought evil on the widow with whom I am staying, by killing her son?”
Alors il s'étendit sur l'enfant par trois fois et invoqua l'Eternel en disant: "Seigneur, mon Dieu! Permets que la vie revienne au cœur de cet enfant!"
Y midióse sobre el niño tres veces, y clamó á Jehová, y dijo: Jehová Dios mío, ruégote que vuelva el alma de este niño á sus entrañas.
And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again.

L'Eternel exauça la prière d'Elie, et la vie revint au cœur de l'enfant, et il fut sauvé.
Y Jehová oyó la voz de Elías, y el alma del niño volvió á sus entrañas, y revivió.
And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

Elie prit l'enfant, le transporta de la chambre haute à l'intérieur et le rendit à sa mère en disant: "Vois, ton fils est vivant."
Tomando luego Elías al niño, trájolo de la cámara á la casa, y diólo á su madre, y díjole Elías: Mira, tu hijo vive.
And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.

La femme répondit à Elie: "Je reconnais bien maintenant que tu es un homme de Dieu, et que la parole du Seigneur dans ta bouche est vérité."
Entonces la mujer dijo á Elías: Ahora conozco que tú eres varón de Dios, y que la palabra de Jehová es verdad en tu boca.
And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.
The woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the LORD’s word in your mouth is truth.”
