Contó Acab a Jezabel cuanto había hecho Elías, y cómo había pasado a cuchillo todos los profetas de Baal, sin dejar uno.
Y ACHAB dió la nueva á Jezabel de todo lo que Elías había hecho, de como había muerto á cuchillo á todos los profetas.

Oído esto, se atemorizó Elías, y se fue huyendo por donde le llevaba su imaginación. Al llegar a Bersabee de Judá, dejó allí su criado.

Llegado allá hizo asiento en una cueva, y dirigiéndole el Señor la palabra, le dijo: ¿Qué haces ahí, Elías?

A lo que respondió él: Me abraso de celo por ti, ¡oh Señor Dios de los ejércitos!, porque los hijos de Israel han abandonado tu alianza, han destruido tus altares, han pasado a cuchillo tus profetas; he quedado yo solo, y me buscan para quitarme la vida.
Y él respondió: Sentido he un vivo celo por Jehová Dios de los ejércitos; porque los hijos de Israel han dejado tu alianza, han derribado tus altares, y han muerto á cuchillo tus profetas: y yo solo he quedado, y me buscan para quitarme la vida.
And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
He said, “I have been very jealous for the LORD, the God of Armies; for the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.”
Le dijo el Señor: Sal fuera, y ponte sobre el monte en presencia del Señor, y he aquí que pasará el Señor, y delante de él correrá un viento fuerte e impetuoso, capaz de trastornar los montes y quebrantar las peñas; no está el Señor en el viento. Después del viento vendrá un temblor de tierra; tampoco está el Señor en el terremoto.
Y él le dijo: Sal fuera, y ponte en el monte delante de Jehová. Y he aquí Jehová que pasaba, y un grande y poderoso viento que rompía los montes, y quebraba las peñas delante de Jehová: mas Jehová no estaba en el viento. Y tras el viento un terremoto: mas Jehová no estaba en el terremoto.
And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
He said, “Go out and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” Behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake.
Tras el terremoto un fuego; no está el Señor en el fuego. Y tras el fuego el soplo de un aura apacible y suave.
Y tras el terremoto un fuego: mas Jehová no estaba en el fuego. Y tras el fuego un silbo apacible y delicado.
And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

Habiendo oído esto Elías, cubrió su rostro con el manto, y saliendo fuera, se paró a la puerta de la cueva, y de repente oye una voz que le dice: ¿Qué haces aquí, Elías?
Y cuando lo oyó Elías, cubrió su rostro con su manto, y salió, y paróse á la puerta de la cueva. Y he aquí llegó una voz á él, diciendo: ¿Qué haces aquí, Elías?

Abrasarme de celo, respondió él, por el Señor Dios de los ejércitos; porque los hijos de Israel han abandonado tu alianza, han derribado tus altares y pasado a cuchillo a tus profetas; he quedado solamente yo, y me buscan para quitarme la vida.

Le dijo el Señor: Anda, y vuélvete por el mismo camino del desierto hacia Damasco; llegado allá, ungirás a Hazael por rey de Siria;
Y díjole Jehová: Ve, vuélvete por tu camino, por el desierto de Damasco: y llegarás, y ungirás á Hazael por rey de Siria;
And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:

y a Jehú, hijo de Namsi, lo ungirás rey de Israel; y ungirás también a Eliseo, hijo de Safat, natural de Abelmeula, por profeta sucesor tuyo.
Y á Jehú hijo de Nimsi, ungirás por rey sobre Israel; y á Eliseo hijo de Saphat, de Abelmehula, ungirás para que sea profeta en lugar de ti.
And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.
Anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi to be king over Israel; and anoint Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah to be prophet in your place.
Y sucederá que el que escapare de la espada de Hazael, será muerto por Jehú; y el que se librare de la espada de Jehú, lo hará morir Eliseo.
Y será, que el que escapare del cuchillo de Hazael, Jehú lo matará; y el que escapare del cuchillo de Jehú, Eliseo lo matará.
And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.
He who escapes from the sword of Hazael, Jehu will kill; and he who escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha will kill.
Mas yo me reservaré en Israel siete mil varones que nunca doblaron su rodilla ante Baal, ninguno de los cuales ha besado su propia mano, y extendídola después en señal de adorarle.
Y yo haré que queden en Israel siete mil; todas rodillas que no se encorvaron á Baal, y bocas todas que no lo besaron.
Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

Partido que hubo de allí Elías, halló a Eliseo, hijo de Safat, arando con doce yuntas de bueyes, y él era uno de los que araban con una de las doce yuntas; y Elías, así que llegó a él, le echó su manto encima.
Y partiéndose él de allí, halló á Eliseo hijo de Saphat, que araba con doce yuntas delante de sí; y él era uno de los doce gañanes. Y pasando Elías por delante de él, echó sobre él su manto.
So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.

Eliseo dejando al instante los bueyes fue corriendo en pos de Elías, a quien dijo: Permíteme que vaya a dar el ósculo de despedida a mi padre y a mi madre, y luego te seguiré. Le respondió: Anda, y vuelve, que lo que a mí me tocaba hacer contigo yo ya lo he hecho.
Entonces dejando él los bueyes, vino corriendo en pos de Elías, y dijo: Ruégote que me dejes besar mi padre y mi madre, y luego te seguiré. Y él le dijo: Ve, vuelve: ¿qué te he hecho yo?
And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee?
Elisha left the oxen and ran after Elijah, and said, “Let me please kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you.” He said to him, “Go back again; for what have I done to you?”
Apenas se hubo separado de él, y despedido de sus padres, tomó el par de bueyes, y los degolló, y con la madera del arado coció sus carnes, y se las dio a la gente para que comiese; después de lo cual se puso en camino, y fue siguiendo a Elías, y le servía.
Y volvióse de en pos de él, y tomó un par de bueyes, y matólos, y con el arado de los bueyes coció la carne de ellos, y dióla al pueblo que comiesen. Después se levantó, y fué tras Elías, y servíale.
And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.
He returned from following him, and took the yoke of oxen, killed them, and boiled their meat with the oxen’s equipment, and gave to the people; and they ate. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and served him.
