El rey David ya era muy anciano y entrado en años; y aunque lo cubrían con mantas, no lograba entrar en calor.
COMO el rey David era viejo, y entrado en días, cubríanle de vestidos, mas no se calentaba.

Por eso, sus servidores le dijeron: “Busquen a una joven virgen para mi señor el rey, para que lo atienda y lo cuide, y se acueste a su lado para darle calor”.
Dijéronle por tanto sus siervos: Busquen á mi señor el rey una moza virgen, para que esté delante del rey, y lo abrigue, y duerma á su lado, y calentará á mi señor el rey.
Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.
Therefore his servants said to him, “Let a young virgin be sought for my lord the king. Let her stand before the king, and cherish him; and let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may keep warm.”
Así que buscaron a una joven hermosa por todo el territorio de Israel; encontraron a Abisag, la sunamita, y la llevaron ante el rey.

La joven era bellísima y se dedicó a servir al rey y a cuidarlo, pero el rey nunca tuvo relaciones sexuales con ella.

And the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered to him: but the king knew her not.

Mientras tanto, Adonías hijo de Haguit se llenó de orgullo y decía: “Yo voy a ser el rey”. Así que se consiguió carros, caballos y cincuenta hombres que corrieran delante de él.

And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also was a very goodly man; and his mother bare him after Absalom.

Se puso de acuerdo con Joab hijo de Sarvia y con el sacerdote Abiatar, y ellos lo apoyaron en sus planes.

Adonías sacrificó ovejas, bueyes y animales engordados junto a la piedra de Zojelet, que está cerca de En Roguel. Invitó a todos sus hermanos, los hijos del rey, y a todos los hombres de Judá que estaban al servicio del rey;
Y matando Adonía ovejas y vacas y animales engordados junto á la peña de Zoheleth, que está cerca de la fuente de Rogel, convidó á todos sus hermanos los hijos del rey, y á todos los varones de Judá, siervos del rey:
And Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fat cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by En-rogel, and called all his brethren the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah the king’s servants:
Adonijah killed sheep, cattle, and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En Rogel; and he called all his brothers, the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah, the king’s servants;
pero no invitó al profeta Natán, ni a Benaía, ni a la guardia especial, ni a su hermano Salomón.
Mas no convidó á Nathán profeta, ni á Benaía, ni á los grandes, ni á Salomón su hermano.
But Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he called not.

Entonces Natán le dijo a Betsabé, la madre de Salomón: “¿No te has enterado de que Adonías hijo de Haguit se ha proclamado rey, y que nuestro señor David ni siquiera lo sabe?
Y habló Nathán á Bath-sheba madre de Salomón, diciendo: ¿No has oído que reina Adonía hijo de Haggith, sin saberlo David nuestro señor?
Wherefore Nathan spake unto Bath-sheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith doth reign, and David our lord knoweth it not?
Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, “Haven’t you heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and David our lord doesn’t know it?
Ven ahora, déjame darte un consejo para que salves tu vida y la de tu hijo Salomón.
Ven pues ahora, y toma mi consejo, para que guardes tu vida, y la vida de tu hijo Salomón.
Now therefore come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou mayest save thine own life, and the life of thy son Solomon.
Now therefore come, please let me give you counsel, that you may save your own life and your son Solomon’s life.
Ve de inmediato a ver al rey David y dile: ‘¿No me juró usted, mi señor el rey, que mi hijo Salomón reinaría después de usted y se sentaría en su trono? ¿Por qué, entonces, Adonías se ha hecho rey?’.
Ve, y entra al rey David, y dile: Rey señor mío, ¿no has tú jurado á tu sierva, diciendo: Salomón tu hijo reinará después de mí, y él se sentará en mi trono? ¿por qué pues reina Adonía?
Go and get thee in unto king David, and say unto him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? why then doth Adonijah reign?
Go in to King David, and tell him, ‘Didn’t you, my lord the king, swear to your servant, saying, “Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne”? Why then does Adonijah reign?’
Mira, mientras tú estés hablando con el rey, yo entraré después de ti para confirmar lo que hayas dicho”.

Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the king, I also will come in after thee, and confirm thy words.

Betsabé fue a la habitación del rey. Él estaba muy anciano, y Abisag la sunamita lo atendía.
Entonces Bath-sheba entró al rey á la cámara: y el rey era muy viejo; y Abisag Sunamita servía al rey.
And Bath-sheba went in unto the king into the chamber: and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite ministered unto the king.
Bathsheba went in to the king in his room. The king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite was serving the king.
Betsabé se inclinó ante el rey en señal de respeto. El rey le preguntó: “¿Qué se te ofrece?”.
Y Bath-sheba se inclinó, é hizo reverencia al rey. Y el rey dijo: ¿Qué tienes?
And Bath-sheba bowed, and did obeisance unto the king. And the king said, What wouldest thou?
Bathsheba bowed and showed respect to the king. The king said, “What would you like?”
Ella le respondió: “Señor mío, usted le juró a esta servidora suya por Yahvé su Dios: ‘Tu hijo Salomón me sucederá como rey y se sentará en mi trono’.
Y ella le respondió: Señor mío, tú juraste á tu sierva por Jehová tu Dios, diciendo: Salomón tu hijo reinará después de mí, y él se sentará en mi trono;
And she said unto him, My lord, thou swarest by the LORD thy God unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne.
She said to him, “My lord, you swore by the LORD your God to your servant, ‘Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.’
Pero resulta que Adonías ya se ha hecho rey, y usted, mi señor el rey, no lo sabe.
Y he aquí ahora Adonía reina: y tú, mi señor rey, ahora no lo supiste.
And now, behold, Adonijah reigneth; and now, my lord the king, thou knowest it not:
Now, behold, Adonijah reigns; and you, my lord the king, don’t know it.
Él ha sacrificado muchísimos bueyes, animales engordados y ovejas, y ha invitado a todos los hijos del rey, al sacerdote Abiatar y a Joab, el general del ejército; pero no invitó a su servidor Salomón.
Ha matado bueyes, y animales engordados, y muchas ovejas, y ha convidado á todos los hijos del rey, y á Abiathar sacerdote, y á Joab general del ejército; mas á Salomón tu siervo no ha convidado.
And he hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the host: but Solomon thy servant hath he not called.
He has slain cattle and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has called all the sons of the king, Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the army; but he hasn’t called Solomon your servant.
Ahora, mi señor el rey, todo Israel está pendiente de usted, esperando que les diga quién se sentará en el trono después de usted.
Entre tanto, rey señor mío, los ojos de todo Israel están sobre ti, para que les declares quién se ha de sentar en el trono de mi señor el rey después de él.
And thou, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, that thou shouldest tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.
You, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, that you should tell them who will sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.
De lo contrario, en cuanto usted descanse con sus antepasados, mi hijo Salomón y yo seremos tratados como criminales”.
De otra suerte acontecerá, cuando mi señor el rey durmiere con sus padres, que yo y mi hijo Salomón seremos tenidos por culpables.
Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.
Otherwise it will happen, when my lord the king sleeps with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be considered criminals.”
Mientras ella hablaba con el rey, llegó el profeta Natán.
Y estando aún hablando ella con el rey, he aquí Nathán profeta, que vino.
And, lo, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet also came in.
Behold, while she was still talking with the king, Nathan the prophet came in.
Le informaron al rey: “Aquí está el profeta Natán”. Cuando entró a la presencia del rey, se inclinó hasta tocar el suelo con la frente.
Y dieron aviso al rey, diciendo: He aquí Nathán profeta: el cual como entró al rey, postróse delante del rey inclinando su rostro á tierra.
And they told the king, saying, Behold Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
They told the king, saying, “Behold, Nathan the prophet!” When he had come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
Entonces Natán dijo: “Mi señor el rey, ¿acaso usted ha declarado que Adonías reinará después de usted y se sentará en su trono?
Y dijo Nathán: Rey señor mío, ¿has tú dicho: Adonía reinará después de mí, y él se sentará en mi trono?
And Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne?
Nathan said, “My lord, King, have you said, ‘Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne’?
Porque hoy mismo fue y sacrificó muchísimos bueyes, animales engordados y ovejas; invitó a todos los hijos del rey, a los jefes del ejército y al sacerdote Abiatar. Ahora mismo están comiendo y bebiendo con él, y gritando: ‘¡Viva el rey Adonías!’.
Porque hoy ha descendido, y ha matado bueyes, y animales engordados, y muchas ovejas, y ha convidado á todos los hijos del rey, y á los capitanes del ejército, y también á Abiathar sacerdote; y he aquí, están comiendo y bebiendo delante de él, y han dicho: ¡Viva el rey Adonía!
For he is gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the king’s sons, and the captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah.
For he has gone down today, and has slain cattle, fatlings, and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king’s sons, the captains of the army, and Abiathar the priest. Behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and saying, ‘Long live King Adonijah!’
Pero a mí, que soy su servidor, no me invitó, como tampoco al sacerdote Sadoc, ni a Benaía hijo de Joyadá, ni a su servidor Salomón.
Mas ni á mí tu siervo, ni á Sadoc sacerdote, ni á Benaía hijo de Joiada, ni á Salomón tu siervo, ha convidado.
But me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and thy servant Solomon, hath he not called.
But he hasn’t called me, even me your servant, Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon.
¿Ha autorizado mi señor el rey todo esto sin avisarles a sus servidores quién ocupará su trono después de usted?”.
¿Es este negocio ordenado por mi señor el rey, sin haber declarado á tu siervo quién se había de sentar en el trono de mi señor el rey después de él?
Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not shewed it unto thy servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?
Was this thing done by my lord the king, and you haven’t shown to your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?”
El rey David ordenó: “Llamen a Betsabé”. Ella entró y se presentó ante el rey.
Entonces el rey David respondió, y dijo: Llamadme á Bath-sheba. Y ella entró á la presencia del rey, y púsose delante del rey.
Then king David answered and said, Call me Bath-sheba. And she came into the king’s presence, and stood before the king.
Then King David answered, “Call Bathsheba in to me.” She came into the king’s presence and stood before the king.
Entonces el rey hizo este juramento: “Tan cierto como que vive Yahvé, quien me ha librado de todas mis angustias,
Y el rey juró, diciendo: Vive Jehová, que ha redimido mi alma de toda angustia,
And the king sware, and said, As the LORD liveth, that hath redeemed my soul out of all distress,
The king vowed and said, “As the LORD lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
que hoy mismo cumpliré lo que te juré por Yahvé, Dios de Israel, cuando dije: ‘Tu hijo Salomón me sucederá como rey y se sentará en mi trono en mi lugar’”.
Que como yo te he jurado por Jehová Dios de Israel, diciendo: Tu hijo Salomón reinará después de mí, y él se sentará en mi trono en lugar mío; que así lo haré hoy.
Even as I sware unto thee by the LORD God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in my stead; even so will I certainly do this day.
most certainly as I swore to you by the LORD, the God of Israel, saying, ‘Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place;’ I will most certainly do this today.”
Betsabé se inclinó hasta tocar el suelo con la frente y, en señal de respeto, exclamó: “¡Que viva para siempre mi señor el rey David!”.
Entonces Bath-sheba se inclinó al rey, su rostro á tierra, y haciendo reverencia al rey, dijo: Viva mi señor el rey David para siempre.
Then Bath-sheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever.
Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth and showed respect to the king, and said, “Let my lord King David live forever!”
Luego el rey David dijo: “Llamen al sacerdote Sadoc, al profeta Natán y a Benaía hijo de Joyadá”. Cuando ellos se presentaron ante el rey,

And king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.

este les dio las siguientes instrucciones: “Lleven con ustedes a los servidores de su señor, monten a mi hijo Salomón en mi propia mula y llévenlo a Guijón.
Y el rey les dijo: Tomad con vosotros los siervos de vuestro señor, y haced subir á Salomón mi hijo en mi mula, y llevadlo á Gihón:
The king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon:

Una vez allí, que el sacerdote Sadoc y el profeta Natán lo unjan como rey de Israel. Toquen la trompeta y griten: ‘¡Viva el rey Salomón!’.
Y allí lo ungirán Sadoc sacerdote y Nathán profeta por rey sobre Israel; y tocaréis trompeta, diciendo: ¡Viva el rey Salomón!
And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon.

Después suban con él; él vendrá y se sentará en mi trono, y reinará en mi lugar. Yo lo he nombrado gobernante de Israel y de Judá”.

Benaía hijo de Joyadá le respondió al rey: “¡Amén! Que así lo confirme Yahvé, el Dios de mi señor el rey.
Entonces Benaía hijo de Joiada respondió al rey, y dijo: Amén. Así lo diga Jehová, Dios de mi señor el rey.
And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: the LORD God of my lord the king say so too.
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, “Amen. May the LORD, the God of my lord the king, say so.
Y que así como Yahvé ha estado con usted, mi señor el rey, también esté con Salomón y haga que su reinado sea aún más grandioso que el de usted”.
De la manera que Jehová ha sido con mi señor el rey, así sea con Salomón; y él haga mayor su trono que el trono de mi señor el rey David.
As the LORD hath been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.
As the LORD has been with my lord the king, even so may he be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David.”
Entonces el sacerdote Sadoc, el profeta Natán y Benaía hijo de Joyadá, junto con la guardia especial, bajaron y montaron a Salomón en la mula del rey David, y lo llevaron a Guijón.
Y descendió Sadoc sacerdote, y Nathán profeta, y Benaía hijo de Joiada, y los Ceretheos y los Peletheos, é hicieron subir á Salomón en la mula del rey David, y lleváronlo á Gihón.
So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon king David’s mule, and brought him to Gihon.
So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon ride on King David’s mule, and brought him to Gihon.
El sacerdote Sadoc tomó el cuerno de aceite que estaba en el santuario y ungió a Salomón. Entonces tocaron la trompeta y todo el pueblo gritó: “¡Viva el rey Salomón!”.
Y tomando Sadoc sacerdote el cuerno del aceite del tabernáculo, ungió á Salomón: y tocaron trompeta, y dijo todo el pueblo: ¡Viva el rey Salomón!
And Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon.

Toda la gente lo siguió, tocando flautas y saltando de alegría; hacían tanto ruido que la tierra temblaba.

And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them.

Adonías y todos sus invitados lo oyeron justo cuando terminaban de comer. Al oír el toque de la trompeta, Joab preguntó: “¿A qué se debe ese alboroto en la ciudad?”.
Y oyólo Adonía, y todos los convidados que con él estaban, cuando ya habían acabado de comer. Y oyendo Joab el sonido de la trompeta, dijo: ¿Por qué se alborota la ciudad con estruendo?
And Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Wherefore is this noise of the city being in an uproar?

Todavía estaba hablando cuando llegó Jonatán hijo del sacerdote Abiatar. Adonías le dijo: “Pasa, que tú eres un hombre valiente y seguro traes buenas noticias”.
Estando aún él hablando, he aquí Jonathán hijo de Abiathar sacerdote vino, al cual dijo Adonía: Entra, porque tú eres hombre de esfuerzo, y traerás buenas nuevas.
And while he yet spake, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came: and Adonijah said unto him, Come in; for thou art a valiant man, and bringest good tidings.
While he yet spoke, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came; and Adonijah said, “Come in; for you are a worthy man, and bring good news.”
Pero Jonatán le respondió: “¡Al contrario! Nuestro señor el rey David ha nombrado rey a Salomón.
Y Jonathán respondió, y dijo á Adonía: Ciertamente nuestro señor el rey David ha hecho rey á Salomón:
And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily our lord king David hath made Solomon king.
Jonathan answered Adonijah, “Most certainly our lord King David has made Solomon king.
El rey envió con él al sacerdote Sadoc, al profeta Natán y a Benaía hijo de Joyadá, junto con la guardia especial, y lo montaron en la mula del rey.
Y el rey ha enviado con él á Sadoc sacerdote y á Nathán profeta, y á Benaía hijo de Joiada, y también á los Ceretheos y á los Peletheos, los cuales le hicieron subir en la mula del rey;

Luego Sadoc y Natán lo ungieron como rey en Guijón. De allí subieron todos muy alegres, y la ciudad está de fiesta. Ese es el ruido que acaban de oír.
Y Sadoc sacerdote y Nathán profeta lo han ungido en Gihón por rey: y de allá han subido con alegrías, y la ciudad está llena de estruendo. Este es el alboroto que habéis oído.

Salomón ya se ha sentado en el trono real.

Incluso los servidores del rey han ido a felicitar a nuestro señor el rey David, diciéndole: ‘¡Que su Dios haga el nombre de Salomón más famoso que el de usted, y su reinado más grande que el suyo!’. Y el rey se inclinó sobre su cama para adorar a Dios,
Y aun los siervos del rey han venido á bendecir á nuestro señor el rey David, diciendo: Dios haga bueno el nombre de Salomón más que tu nombre, y haga mayor su trono que el tuyo. Y el rey adoró en la cama.

Al oír esto, todos los invitados de Adonías se aterraron; se levantaron y cada uno se fue por su lado.
Ellos entonces se estremecieron, y levantáronse todos los convidados que estaban con Adonía, y fuése cada uno por su camino.
And all the guests that were with Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way.

Adonías, por miedo a Salomón, corrió al santuario y se agarró de los cuernos del altar.
Mas Adonía, temiendo de la presencia de Salomón, levantóse y fuése, y cogió los cornijales del altar.
And Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
Adonijah was afraid because of Solomon; and he arose, and went, and hung onto the horns of the altar.
Alguien le avisó a Salomón: “Adonías tiene miedo de usted y está agarrado de los cuernos del altar. Dice: ‘Que el rey Salomón me jure hoy mismo que no me matará’”.
Y fué hecho saber á Salomón, diciendo: He aquí que Adonía tiene miedo del rey Salomón: pues ha cogido los cornijales del altar, diciendo: Júreme hoy el rey Salomón que no matará á cuchillo á su siervo.
And it was told Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonijah feareth king Solomon: for, lo, he hath caught hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear unto me to day that he will not slay his servant with the sword.
Solomon was told, “Behold, Adonijah fears King Solomon; for, behold, he is hanging onto the horns of the altar, saying, ‘Let King Solomon swear to me first that he will not kill his servant with the sword.’”
Salomón respondió: “Si se porta como un hombre de bien, no se le tocará ni un solo cabello; pero si se descubre que tiene malas intenciones, morirá”.
Y Salomón dijo: Si él fuere virtuoso, ni uno de sus cabellos caerá en tierra: mas si se hallare mal en él, morirá.
And Solomon said, If he will shew himself a worthy man, there shall not an hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness shall be found in him, he shall die.

Entonces el rey Salomón mandó que lo bajaran del altar. Adonías vino y se inclinó ante el rey Salomón, y este le dijo: “Vete a tu casa”.
Y envió el rey Salomón, y trajéronlo del altar; y él vino, é inclinóse al rey Salomón. Y Salomón le dijo: Vete á tu casa.
