El rey David era ya viejo y de edad muy avanzada; y por más que le cubrían con ropa, no podía entrar en calor.

COMO el rey David era viejo, y entrado en días, cubríanle de vestidos, mas no se calentaba.

Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.

Now King David was old and advanced in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he couldn’t keep warm.

Por lo que le dijeron sus criados: Buscaremos para el rey, nuestro señor, una virgen jovencita, que, siendo su esposa, viva con el rey y le abrigue y duerma a su lado para que le comunique algún calor.

Dijéronle por tanto sus siervos: Busquen á mi señor el rey una moza virgen, para que esté delante del rey, y lo abrigue, y duerma á su lado, y calentará á mi señor el rey.

Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.

Therefore his servants said to him, “Let a young virgin be sought for my lord the king. Let her stand before the king, and cherish him; and let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may keep warm.”

Buscaron, pues, por todas las tierras de Israel una jovencita hermosa, y hallaron a Abisag de Sunam, y se la trajeron al rey.

Y buscaron una moza hermosa por todo el término de Israel, y hallaron á Abisag Sunamita, y trajéronla al rey.

So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.

So they sought for a beautiful young lady throughout all the borders of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king.

Era esta doncella de extremada hermosura y dormía con el rey, y le servía; pero el rey la dejó virgen.

Y la moza era hermosa, la cual calentaba al rey, y le servía: mas el rey nunca la conoció.

And the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered to him: but the king knew her not.

The young lady was very beautiful; and she cherished the king, and served him; but the king didn’t know her intimately.

Entretanto engreído Adonías hijo de Haggit, dijo: Yo reinaré. Con esta mira se hizo carrozas y tomó guardas de a caballo, y cincuenta hombres que lo escoltasen.

Entonces Adonía hijo de Haggith se levantó, diciendo: Yo reinaré. E hízose de carros y gente de á caballo, y cincuenta hombres que corriesen delante de él.

Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.

Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, “I will be king.” Then he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.

Ni por eso su padre lo reprendió nunca, ni le dijo: ¿Por qué haces eso? Era Adonías de hermosísima presencia, y el segundo hijo después de Absalón.

Y su padre nunca lo entristeció en todos sus días con decirle: ¿Por qué haces así? Y también éste era de hermoso parecer; y habíalo engendrado después de Absalom.

And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also was a very goodly man; and his mother bare him after Absalom.

His father had not displeased him at any time in saying, “Why have you done so?” and he was also a very handsome man; and he was born after Absalom.

Y estaba de inteligencia con Joab, hijo de Sarvia, y con Abiatar, sumo sacerdote, los cuales favorecían su partido.

Y tenía tratos con Joab hijo de Sarvia, y con Abiathar sacerdote, los cuales ayudaban á Adonía.

And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest: and they following Adonijah helped him.

He conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest; and they followed Adonijah and helped him.

Mas el otro sumo sacerdote Sadoc, y Banaías, hijo de Joíada, el profeta Natán, y Semei, y Rei, y la principal fuerza del ejército de David, no estaban por Adonías.

Mas Sadoc sacerdote, y Benaía hijo de Joiada, y Nathán profeta, y Semei, y Reihi, y todos los grandes de David, no seguían á Adonía.

But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men which belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.

But Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.

Adonías, pues, habiendo hecho degollar corderos y becerros, y todo género de reses gordas, junto a la Peña de Zohelet, que está cerca de la Fuente de Rogel, convidó a todos sus hermanos, hijos del rey, y a todos los varones de Judá, criados del rey.

Y matando Adonía ovejas y vacas y animales engordados junto á la peña de Zoheleth, que está cerca de la fuente de Rogel, convidó á todos sus hermanos los hijos del rey, y á todos los varones de Judá, siervos del rey:

And Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fat cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by En-rogel, and called all his brethren the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah the king’s servants:

Adonijah killed sheep, cattle, and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En Rogel; and he called all his brothers, the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah, the king’s servants;

Mas no convidó al profeta Natán, ni a Banaías, ni a los militares más valientes ni a Salomón , su hermano.

Mas no convidó á Nathán profeta, ni á Benaía, ni á los grandes, ni á Salomón su hermano.

But Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he called not.

but he didn’t call Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother.

Por lo que dijo Natán a Betsabé, madre de Salomón : ¿No has oído que Adonías, hijo de Haggit, se ha hecho rey, sin que David nuestro señor lo sepa?

Y habló Nathán á Bath-sheba madre de Salomón, diciendo: ¿No has oído que reina Adonía hijo de Haggith, sin saberlo David nuestro señor?

Wherefore Nathan spake unto Bath-sheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith doth reign, and David our lord knoweth it not?

Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, “Haven’t you heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and David our lord doesn’t know it?

Ahora, pues, ven y toma mi consejo, y salva tu vida y la de tu hijo Salomón .

Ven pues ahora, y toma mi consejo, para que guardes tu vida, y la vida de tu hijo Salomón.

Now therefore come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou mayest save thine own life, and the life of thy son Solomon.

Now therefore come, please let me give you counsel, that you may save your own life and your son Solomon’s life.

Anda, ve y preséntate al rey David, y dile: ¿No es verdad, oh rey y señor mío, que tú me juraste a mí, esclava tuya, diciendo: Tu hijo Salomón reinará después de mí; y él se sentará en mi trono? Pues, ¿cómo es que reina Adonías?

Ve, y entra al rey David, y dile: Rey señor mío, ¿no has tú jurado á tu sierva, diciendo: Salomón tu hijo reinará después de mí, y él se sentará en mi trono? ¿por qué pues reina Adonía?

Go and get thee in unto king David, and say unto him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? why then doth Adonijah reign?

Go in to King David, and tell him, ‘Didn’t you, my lord the king, swear to your servant, saying, “Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne”? Why then does Adonijah reign?’

Y antes que tú acabes de hablar al rey, llegaré yo después de ti, y apoyaré tus razones.

Y estando tú aún hablando con el rey, yo entraré tras ti, y acabaré tus razones.

Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the king, I also will come in after thee, and confirm thy words.

Behold, while you are still talking there with the king, I will also come in after you and confirm your words.”

Entró, pues, Betsabé al cuarto del rey, el cual era ya muy viejo; y Abisag, sunamita, le asistía.

Entonces Bath-sheba entró al rey á la cámara: y el rey era muy viejo; y Abisag Sunamita servía al rey.

And Bath-sheba went in unto the king into the chamber: and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite ministered unto the king.

Bathsheba went in to the king in his room. The king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite was serving the king.

Betsabé se inclinó, haciéndole una profunda reverencia. Y el rey le dijo: ¿Qué es lo que quieres?

Y Bath-sheba se inclinó, é hizo reverencia al rey. Y el rey dijo: ¿Qué tienes?

And Bath-sheba bowed, and did obeisance unto the king. And the king said, What wouldest thou?

Bathsheba bowed and showed respect to the king. The king said, “What would you like?”

Respondió ella, diciendo: Tú juraste, mi señor, a tu esclava por el Señor Dios tuyo, que Salomón , mi hijo, reinaría después de ti, y se sentaría en tu trono.

Y ella le respondió: Señor mío, tú juraste á tu sierva por Jehová tu Dios, diciendo: Salomón tu hijo reinará después de mí, y él se sentará en mi trono;

And she said unto him, My lord, thou swarest by the LORD thy God unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne.

She said to him, “My lord, you swore by the LORD your God to your servant, ‘Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.’

Y he aquí que a estas horas está ya reinando Adonías, sin saberlo tú, ¡oh rey y señor mío!

Y he aquí ahora Adonía reina: y tú, mi señor rey, ahora no lo supiste.

And now, behold, Adonijah reigneth; and now, my lord the king, thou knowest it not:

Now, behold, Adonijah reigns; and you, my lord the king, don’t know it.

Ha hecho degollar bueyes, y toda suerte de víctimas o reses cebadas, y muchísimos carneros, y ha convidado a todos los hijos del rey, y también al sumo sacerdote Abiatar, y a Joab, general del ejército: pero no ha convidado a tu siervo Salomón .

Ha matado bueyes, y animales engordados, y muchas ovejas, y ha convidado á todos los hijos del rey, y á Abiathar sacerdote, y á Joab general del ejército; mas á Salomón tu siervo no ha convidado.

And he hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the host: but Solomon thy servant hath he not called.

He has slain cattle and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has called all the sons of the king, Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the army; but he hasn’t called Solomon your servant.

Sin embargo, oh rey y señor mío, todo Israel tiene vueltos sus ojos hacia ti, esperando que declares quién debe sentarse después de ti en tu solio, oh rey y señor mío.

Entre tanto, rey señor mío, los ojos de todo Israel están sobre ti, para que les declares quién se ha de sentar en el trono de mi señor el rey después de él.

And thou, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, that thou shouldest tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.

You, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, that you should tell them who will sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.

Pues sucederá que luego que el rey, mi señor, hubiere ido a descansar con sus padres, yo y Salomón , mi hijo, seremos tratados como criminales.

De otra suerte acontecerá, cuando mi señor el rey durmiere con sus padres, que yo y mi hijo Salomón seremos tenidos por culpables.

Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.

Otherwise it will happen, when my lord the king sleeps with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be considered criminals.”

Estaba todavía hablando Betsabé con el rey, cuando he aquí que llega el profeta Natán.

Y estando aún hablando ella con el rey, he aquí Nathán profeta, que vino.

And, lo, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet also came in.

Behold, while she was still talking with the king, Nathan the prophet came in.

Y entraron recado al rey, diciendo: Aquí está el profeta Natán. El cual se presentó al rey, y postrándose hasta el suelo, le hizo profunda reverencia,

Y dieron aviso al rey, diciendo: He aquí Nathán profeta: el cual como entró al rey, postróse delante del rey inclinando su rostro á tierra.

And they told the king, saying, Behold Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.

They told the king, saying, “Behold, Nathan the prophet!” When he had come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.

y le dijo: ¡Oh rey y señor mío!, ¿has dicho tú acaso: Reine después de mí Adonías y sea él el que ocupe mi trono?

Y dijo Nathán: Rey señor mío, ¿has tú dicho: Adonía reinará después de mí, y él se sentará en mi trono?

And Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne?

Nathan said, “My lord, King, have you said, ‘Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne’?

Porque hoy ha salido, y ha hecho degollar bueyes y reses gordas, muchísimos carneros, y ha convidado a todos los hijos del rey y a los caudillos del ejército, y también a Abiatar, sumo sacerdote; los cuales han comido y bebido a su lado, diciendo: ¡Viva el rey Adonías!

Porque hoy ha descendido, y ha matado bueyes, y animales engordados, y muchas ovejas, y ha convidado á todos los hijos del rey, y á los capitanes del ejército, y también á Abiathar sacerdote; y he aquí, están comiendo y bebiendo delante de él, y han dicho: ¡Viva el rey Adonía!

For he is gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the king’s sons, and the captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah.

For he has gone down today, and has slain cattle, fatlings, and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king’s sons, the captains of the army, and Abiathar the priest. Behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and saying, ‘Long live King Adonijah!’

Mas a mí, tu siervo, ni al sumo sacerdote Sadoc, ni a Banaías, hijo de Joíada, como ni a tu siervo Salomón , no nos ha convidado.

Mas ni á mí tu siervo, ni á Sadoc sacerdote, ni á Benaía hijo de Joiada, ni á Salomón tu siervo, ha convidado.

But me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and thy servant Solomon, hath he not called.

But he hasn’t called me, even me your servant, Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon.

¿Es posible que mi señor el rey haya dado realmente tal orden? ¿Y que no me haya comunicado a mí, siervo tuyo, quién debe sentarse en el trono del rey mi señor después de él?

¿Es este negocio ordenado por mi señor el rey, sin haber declarado á tu siervo quién se había de sentar en el trono de mi señor el rey después de él?

Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not shewed it unto thy servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?

Was this thing done by my lord the king, and you haven’t shown to your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?”

Mas el rey David respondió, y dijo: Llamadme a Betsabé. Así que hubo ésta entrado y estuvo delante del rey,

Entonces el rey David respondió, y dijo: Llamadme á Bath-sheba. Y ella entró á la presencia del rey, y púsose delante del rey.

Then king David answered and said, Call me Bath-sheba. And she came into the king’s presence, and stood before the king.

Then King David answered, “Call Bathsheba in to me.” She came into the king’s presence and stood before the king.

juró el rey, y dijo: Vive Dios, que ha librado mi alma de todo peligro,

Y el rey juró, diciendo: Vive Jehová, que ha redimido mi alma de toda angustia,

And the king sware, and said, As the LORD liveth, that hath redeemed my soul out of all distress,

The king vowed and said, “As the LORD lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity,

que así como te juré por el Señor Dios de Israel, diciendo: Tu hijo Salomón reinará después de mí, y él se sentará sobre mi trono en mi lugar, así lo ejecutaré hoy.

Que como yo te he jurado por Jehová Dios de Israel, diciendo: Tu hijo Salomón reinará después de mí, y él se sentará en mi trono en lugar mío; que así lo haré hoy.

Even as I sware unto thee by the LORD God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in my stead; even so will I certainly do this day.

most certainly as I swore to you by the LORD, the God of Israel, saying, ‘Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place;’ I will most certainly do this today.”

Y Betsabé, inclinando el rostro hasta la tierra, hizo reverencia al rey, y dijo: ¡Viva para siempre David, mi señor!

Entonces Bath-sheba se inclinó al rey, su rostro á tierra, y haciendo reverencia al rey, dijo: Viva mi señor el rey David para siempre.

Then Bath-sheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever.

Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth and showed respect to the king, and said, “Let my lord King David live forever!”

Dijo después el rey David: Llamadme al sumo sacerdote Sadoc, y al profeta Natán, y a Banaías, hijo de Joíada. Y así que estuvieron éstos en su presencia

Y el rey David dijo: Llamadme á Sadoc sacerdote, y á Nathán profeta, y á Benaía hijo de Joiada. Y ellos entraron á la presencia del rey.

And king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.

King David said, “Call to me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada.” They came before the king.

les dijo: Juntad mis criados o guardias; haced monta a mi hijo Salomón en mi mula, y conducidlo a Gihón,

Y el rey les dijo: Tomad con vosotros los siervos de vuestro señor, y haced subir á Salomón mi hijo en mi mula, y llevadlo á Gihón:

The king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon:

The king said to them, “Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride on my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon.

y allí lo ungirán por rey de Israel el sumo sacerdote Sadoc y el profeta Natán; y tocaréis la trompeta, y diréis: ¡Viva el rey Salomón !

Y allí lo ungirán Sadoc sacerdote y Nathán profeta por rey sobre Israel; y tocaréis trompeta, diciendo: ¡Viva el rey Salomón!

And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon.

Let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel. Blow the trumpet, and say, ‘Long live King Solomon!’

Volveréis después acompañándole, y vendrá él a sentarse sobre mi trono, y reinará en mi lugar; y a él entregaré el gobierno de Israel y de Judá.

Después iréis vosotros detrás de él, y vendrá y se sentará en mi trono, y él reinará por mí; porque á él he ordenado para que sea príncipe sobre Israel y sobre Judá.

Then ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit upon my throne; for he shall be king in my stead: and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.

Then come up after him, and he shall come and sit on my throne; for he shall be king in my place. I have appointed him to be prince over Israel and over Judah.”

Banaías, hijo de Joíada, respondió al rey, diciendo: Amén, así lo confirme el Señor y Dios del rey mi amo.

Entonces Benaía hijo de Joiada respondió al rey, y dijo: Amén. Así lo diga Jehová, Dios de mi señor el rey.

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: the LORD God of my lord the king say so too.

Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, “Amen. May the LORD, the God of my lord the king, say so.

Como el Señor ha protegido al rey mi amo, así guarde a Salomón , y ensalce su trono, aun más que el trono de mi amo el rey David.

De la manera que Jehová ha sido con mi señor el rey, así sea con Salomón; y él haga mayor su trono que el trono de mi señor el rey David.

As the LORD hath been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.

As the LORD has been with my lord the king, even so may he be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David.”

Con esto salieron el sumo sacerdote Sadoc, y el profeta Natán, y Banaías, hijo de Joíada, con las guardias de cereteos y feleteos, y haciendo montar a Salomón en la mula del rey David, lo condujeron a Gihón.

Y descendió Sadoc sacerdote, y Nathán profeta, y Benaía hijo de Joiada, y los Ceretheos y los Peletheos, é hicieron subir á Salomón en la mula del rey David, y lleváronlo á Gihón.

So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon king David’s mule, and brought him to Gihon.

So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon ride on King David’s mule, and brought him to Gihon.

El sumo sacerdote Sadoc tomó del Tabernáculo la vasija del óleo sagrado, y ungió a Salomón , y tocaron las trompetas, y gritó todo el pueblo: ¡Viva el rey Salomón !

Y tomando Sadoc sacerdote el cuerno del aceite del tabernáculo, ungió á Salomón: y tocaron trompeta, y dijo todo el pueblo: ¡Viva el rey Salomón!

And Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon.

Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the Tent, and anointed Solomon. They blew the trumpet; and all the people said, “Long live King Solomon!”

Todo el mundo se fue tras él; y una tropa de gente tocaba flautas y se alegraba con gran júbilo, resonando la tierra con sus aclamaciones.

Después subió todo el pueblo en pos de él, y cantaba la gente con flautas, y hacían grandes alegrías, que parecía que la tierra se hundía con el clamor de ellos.

And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them.

Las oyeron Adonías y sus convidados, cuando ya estaba el banquete acabado. Pero Joab, así que oyó el sonido de la trompeta, dijo: ¿Qué es esta algazara y alboroto de la ciudad?

Y oyólo Adonía, y todos los convidados que con él estaban, cuando ya habían acabado de comer. Y oyendo Joab el sonido de la trompeta, dijo: ¿Por qué se alborota la ciudad con estruendo?

And Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Wherefore is this noise of the city being in an uproar?

Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they had finished eating. When Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, “Why is this noise of the city being in an uproar?”

Aún estaba hablando, cuando llegó Jonatás, hijo de Abiatar el sumo sacerdote; y le dijo Adonías: Entra, que tú eres un hombre valeroso y portador de buenas nuevas.

Estando aún él hablando, he aquí Jonathán hijo de Abiathar sacerdote vino, al cual dijo Adonía: Entra, porque tú eres hombre de esfuerzo, y traerás buenas nuevas.

And while he yet spake, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came: and Adonijah said unto him, Come in; for thou art a valiant man, and bringest good tidings.

While he yet spoke, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came; and Adonijah said, “Come in; for you are a worthy man, and bring good news.”

No por cierto, respondió Jonatás a Adonías; porque David, el rey nuestro Señor, ha declarado por rey a Salomón .

Y Jonathán respondió, y dijo á Adonía: Ciertamente nuestro señor el rey David ha hecho rey á Salomón:

And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily our lord king David hath made Solomon king.

Jonathan answered Adonijah, “Most certainly our lord King David has made Solomon king.

Y ha enviado con él al sumo sacerdote Sadoc, y al profeta Natán y a Banaías, hijo de Joíada, con los cereteos y feleteos; y lo han hecho montar en la mula del rey;

Y el rey ha enviado con él á Sadoc sacerdote y á Nathán profeta, y á Benaía hijo de Joiada, y también á los Ceretheos y á los Peletheos, los cuales le hicieron subir en la mula del rey;

y Sadoc, sumo sacerdote, y el profeta Natán lo han ungido por rey en Gihón, y han regresado de allí en medio de aclamaciones de júbilo, que resuenan por toda la ciudad. Estas son las voces de alborozo que habéis oído.

En suma, Salomón está ya sentado en el trono real;

y los criados del rey han entrado ya para felicitar a David, nuestro rey y señor, diciendo: Haga Dios el nombre de Salomón más glorioso todavía que tu mismo nombre, y engrandezca su trono aun más que el tuyo. Y el rey desde su cama ha adorado al Señor,

Y aun los siervos del rey han venido á bendecir á nuestro señor el rey David, diciendo: Dios haga bueno el nombre de Salomón más que tu nombre, y haga mayor su trono que el tuyo. Y el rey adoró en la cama.

And moreover the king’s servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed.

And also thus said the king, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which hath given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing it.

Con esto quedaron atónitos todos los convidados de Adonías; y levantándose se fueron cada uno por su lado.

Ellos entonces se estremecieron, y levantáronse todos los convidados que estaban con Adonía, y fuése cada uno por su camino.

And all the guests that were with Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way.

Mas Adonías, temiendo a Salomón , se marchó y fue a refugiarse a un lado del altar.

And Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.

De lo cual avisaron a Salomón , diciendo: Sábete que Adonías temiendo al rey Salomón se marchó y fue a refugiarse a un lado del altar, y dice: Júreme hoy el rey Salomón que no hará morir al filo de la espada a su siervo.

Y fué hecho saber á Salomón, diciendo: He aquí que Adonía tiene miedo del rey Salomón: pues ha cogido los cornijales del altar, diciendo: Júreme hoy el rey Salomón que no matará á cuchillo á su siervo.

And it was told Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonijah feareth king Solomon: for, lo, he hath caught hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear unto me to day that he will not slay his servant with the sword.

Solomon was told, “Behold, Adonijah fears King Solomon; for, behold, he is hanging onto the horns of the altar, saying, ‘Let King Solomon swear to me first that he will not kill his servant with the sword.’”

A lo que respondió Salomón : Si fuere hombre de bien, no caerá en tierra ni uno siquiera de sus cabellos; pero si se portare malamente, morirá.

Y Salomón dijo: Si él fuere virtuoso, ni uno de sus cabellos caerá en tierra: mas si se hallare mal en él, morirá.

And Solomon said, If he will shew himself a worthy man, there shall not an hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness shall be found in him, he shall die.

Envió, pues, Salomón quien lo sacase del altar; y presentándose Adonías, hizo al rey Salomón profunda reverencia, y Salomón le dijo: Vete a tu casa.

Y envió el rey Salomón, y trajéronlo del altar; y él vino, é inclinóse al rey Salomón. Y Salomón le dijo: Vete á tu casa.

So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and bowed himself to king Solomon: and Solomon said unto him, Go to thine house.
