Ben-Hadade, rei da Síria, reuniu todo o seu exército. Havia trinta e dois reis de menor importância com ele, cavalos e carruagens. Ele subiu, cercou Samaria e lutou contra ela.

ENTONCES Ben-adad rey de Siria juntó á todo su ejército, y con él treinta y dos reyes, con caballos y carros: y subió, y puso cerco á Samaria, y combatióla.

And Ben-hadad the king of Syria gathered all his host together: and there were thirty and two kings with him, and horses, and chariots: and he went up and besieged Samaria, and warred against it.

Enviou mensageiros à cidade de Acabe, rei de Israel, e lhe disse: "Ben-Hadade te diz:

And he sent messengers to Ahab king of Israel into the city, and said unto him, Thus saith Ben-hadad,

'Tua prata e teu ouro são meus. Também tuas mulheres e crianças, as melhores, agora são minhas'".

Así ha dicho Ben-adad: Tu plata y tu oro es mío, y tus mujeres y tus hijos hermosos son míos.

Thy silver and thy gold is mine; thy wives also and thy children, even the goodliest, are mine.

‘Your silver and your gold are mine. Your wives also and your children, even the best, are mine.’”

O rei de Israel respondeu: "Conforme o que disseste, meu mestre, rei. Eu e tudo o que tenho somos teus".

Y el rey de Israel respondió, y dijo: Como tú dices, rey señor mío, yo soy tuyo, y todo lo que tengo.

And the king of Israel answered and said, My lord, O king, according to thy saying, I am thine, and all that I have.

Os mensageiros voltaram e disseram: "Ben-Hadade assim diz: 'Enviei a palavra a ti dizendo que tu deverás me entregar tua prata, teu ouro, tuas mulheres e crianças.

Y volviendo los mensajeros otra vez, dijeron: Así dijo Ben-adad: Yo te envié á decir: Tu plata y tu oro, y tus mujeres y tus hijos me darás.

And the messengers came again, and said, Thus speaketh Ben-hadad, saying, Although I have sent unto thee, saying, Thou shalt deliver me thy silver, and thy gold, and thy wives, and thy children;

Mas eu enviarei meus servos a ti amanhã, nesta hora, e eles vasculharão tua casa e as casas de teus servos. Eles pegarão, com suas próprias mãos, e levarão tudo o que agradar seus olhos'".

Además mañana á estas horas enviaré yo á ti mis siervos, los cuales escudriñarán tu casa, y las casas de tus siervos; y tomarán con sus manos, y llevarán todo lo precioso que tuvieres.

Yet I will send my servants unto thee to morrow about this time, and they shall search thine house, and the houses of thy servants; and it shall be, that whatsoever is pleasant in thine eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away.

but I will send my servants to you tomorrow about this time, and they will search your house and the houses of your servants. Whatever is pleasant in your eyes, they will put it in their hand, and take it away.”’”

Então o rei de Israel reuniu todos os anciãos da terra e disse: "Por favor, anotai e vede como esse homem procura problemas. Ele enviou mensagens para mim pedindo minhas mulheres, crianças, minha prata e meu ouro, e eu não os neguei".

Entonces el rey de Israel llamó á todos los ancianos de la tierra, y díjoles: Entended, y ved ahora cómo éste no busca sino mal: pues que ha enviado á mí por mis mujeres y mis hijos, y por mi plata y por mi oro; y yo no se lo he negado.

Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, Mark, I pray you, and see how this man seeketh mischief: for he sent unto me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I denied him not.

Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, “Please notice how this man seeks mischief; for he sent to me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I didn’t deny him.”

Todos os anciãos e todo o povo disseram a Acabe: "Não o ouças nem atendas suas exigências".

And all the elders and all the people said unto him, Hearken not unto him, nor consent.

Então Acabe disse aos mensageiros de Ben-Hadade: "Dizei ao meu mestre, o rei: 'Concordo com tudo o que mandaste teu servo fazer pela primeira vez, mas eu não posso aceitar essa segunda ordem'". Então os mensageiros saíram e levaram a resposta a Ben-Hadade.

Entonces él respondió á los embajadores de Ben-adad: Decid al rey mi señor: Haré todo lo que mandaste á tu siervo al principio; mas esto no lo puedo hacer. Y los embajadores fueron, y diéronle la respuesta.

Wherefore he said unto the messengers of Ben-hadad, Tell my lord the king, All that thou didst send for to thy servant at the first I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him word again.

Therefore he said to the messengers of Ben Hadad, “Tell my lord the king, ‘All that you sent for to your servant at the first I will do, but this thing I cannot do.’” The messengers departed and brought him back the message.

Este enviou sua resposta a Acabe e disse: "Que os deuses façam comigo e ainda mais, se até as cinzas de Samaria forem suficientes para todo o povo que me segue ter um punhado em suas mãos".

Y Ben-adad tornó á enviarle á decir: Así me hagan los dioses, y así me añadan, que el polvo de Samaria no bastará á los puños de todo el pueblo que me sigue.

And Ben-hadad sent unto him, and said, The gods do so unto me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me.

O rei de Israel respondeu, dizendo: "Dizei a Ben-Hadade: 'Ninguém que está apenas colocando sua armadura deveria se gabar como quem a está tirando'".

Y el rey de Israel respondió, y dijo: Decidle, que no se alabe el que se ciñe, como el que ya se desciñe.

And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that girdeth on his harness boast himself as he that putteth it off.

The king of Israel answered, “Tell him, ‘Don’t let him who puts on his armor brag like he who takes it off.’”

Ben-Hadade ouviu a mensagem enquanto estava bebendo, ele e os reis abaixo dele, que estavam em suas tendas. Assim, ordenou aos seus homens: "Alinhai-vos em posição para a batalha". Então eles se prepararam em posição de batalha para atacar a cidade.

And it came to pass, when Ben-hadad heard this message, as he was drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, that he said unto his servants, Set yourselves in array. And they set themselves in array against the city.

Eis que um profeta veio a Acabe, o rei de Israel, e disse: "Yahweh diz: 'Tu viste este grande exército? Vê, eu o entregarei em tua mão hoje, e saberás que Eu sou Yahweh'".

Y he aquí un profeta se llegó á Achâb rey de Israel, y le dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: ¿Has visto esta grande multitud? he aquí yo te la entregaré hoy en tu mano, para que conozcas que yo soy Jehová.

And, behold, there came a prophet unto Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into thine hand this day; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.

Behold, a prophet came near to Ahab king of Israel, and said, “The LORD says, ‘Have you seen all this great multitude? Behold, I will deliver it into your hand today. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’”

Acabe respondeu: "Por meio de quem?" Yahweh respondeu: "Pelos jovens oficiais que servem os governadores dos distritos". Então Acabe disse: "Quem iniciará a batalha?" Yahweh respondeu: "Tu".

Então Acabe convocou os jovens oficiais que serviam aos governadores dos distritos. Eles eram duzentos e trinta e dois. Depois ele convocou todos os soldados, todo o exército de Israel, eram sete mil em número.

And he said, Whether they be come out for peace, take them alive; or whether they be come out for war, take them alive.

And they slew every one his man: and the Syrians fled; and Israel pursued them: and Ben-hadad the king of Syria escaped on an horse with the horsemen.

Então o rei de Israel saiu, atacou os cavalos e carruagens e matou os sírios, impondo sobre eles um grande massacre.

And the king of Israel went out, and smote the horses and chariots, and slew the Syrians with a great slaughter.

Então, o profeta veio ao rei de Israel e lhe disse: "Vai, fortalece-te, entende e planeja o que estarás fazendo, pois, após um ano, o rei da Síria virá contra ti novamente".

Llegándose luego el profeta al rey de Israel, le dijo: Ve, fortalécete, y considera y mira lo que has de hacer; porque pasado el año, el rey de Siria ha de venir contra ti.

And the prophet came to the king of Israel, and said unto him, Go, strengthen thyself, and mark, and see what thou doest: for at the return of the year the king of Syria will come up against thee.

The prophet came near to the king of Israel and said to him, “Go, strengthen yourself, and plan what you must do, for at the return of the year, the king of Syria will come up against you.”

Os servos do rei da Síria disseram a ele: "O deus deles é deus dos montes. Por isso eles foram mais fortes que nós. Mas agora lutemos contra eles na planície e certamente seremos mais fortes que eles.

Y los siervos del rey de Siria le dijeron: Sus dioses son dioses de los montes, por eso nos han vencido; mas si peleáremos con ellos en la llanura, se verá si no los vencemos.

And the servants of the king of Syria said unto him, Their gods are gods of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we; but let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they.

Assim, deve fazer isto: tira os reis, cada um de suas posições de autoridade, e substitui-os por comandantes do exército.

O povo de Israel, que estava convocado e provido de suprimento para lutar, acampou defronte deles como dois pequenos rebanhos de cabras, mas os sírios enchiam a terra.

Y los hijos de Israel fueron también inspeccionados, y tomando provisiones fuéronles al encuentro; y asentaron campo lo hijos de Israel delante de ellos, como dos rebañuelos de cabras; y los Siros henchían la tierra.

And the children of Israel were numbered, and were all present, and went against them: and the children of Israel pitched before them like two little flocks of kids; but the Syrians filled the country.

And there came a man of God, and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the LORD, Because the Syrians have said, The LORD is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

A man of God came near and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, “The LORD says, ‘Because the Syrians have said, “The LORD is a god of the hills, but he is not a god of the valleys,” therefore I will deliver all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am the LORD.’”

Assim, os exércitos acamparam, uns em frente aos outros, durante sete dias. No sétimo dia, a batalha começou. O povo de Israel matou cem mil sírios de infantaria em um dia.

Siete días tuvieron asentado campo los unos delante de los otros, y al séptimo día se dió la batalla: y mataron los hijos de Israel de los Siros en un día cien mil hombres de á pie.

And they pitched one over against the other seven days. And so it was, that in the seventh day the battle was joined: and the children of Israel slew of the Syrians an hundred thousand footmen in one day.

They encamped opposite each other for seven days. Then on the seventh day the battle was joined; and the children of Israel killed one hundred thousand footmen of the Syrians in one day.

O restante fugiu para Afeque, entrou na cidade e o muro caiu sobre vinte e sete mil homens que restavam. Ben-Hadade fugiu e entrou na cidade, dentro de uma sala interna.

Los demás huyeron á Aphec, á la ciudad: y el muro cayó sobre veinte y siete mil hombres que habían quedado. También Ben-adad vino huyendo á la ciudad, y escondíase de cámara en cámara.

But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and there a wall fell upon twenty and seven thousand of the men that were left. And Ben-hadad fled, and came into the city, into an inner chamber.

Os servos de Ben-Hadade disseram a ele: "Agora vê, nós ouvimos que os reis da casa de Israel são misericordiosos. Vamos nos vestir de panos de saco e cordas em volta de nossas cabeças e iremos ao rei de Israel. Talvez, ele poupe tua vida".

Entonces sus siervos le dijeron: He aquí, hemos oído de los reyes de la casa de Israel que son reyes clementes: pongamos pues ahora sacos en nuestros lomos, y sogas en nuestras cabezas, y salgamos al rey de Israel: por ventura te salvará la vida.

And his servants said unto him, Behold now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful kings: let us, I pray thee, put sackcloth on our loins, and ropes upon our heads, and go out to the king of Israel: peradventure he will save thy life.

His servants said to him, “See now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful kings. Please let us put sackcloth on our bodies and ropes on our heads, and go out to the king of Israel. Maybe he will save your life.”

Assim, eles puseram pano de saco e cordas em torno de suas cabeças e depois foram ao rei de Israel e disseram: "Teu servo Ben-Hadade diz: 'Deixa-me viver'". Acabe disse: "Ele ainda vive? Ele é meu irmão".

Ciñeron pues sus lomos de sacos, y sogas á sus cabezas, y vinieron al rey de Israel, y dijéronle: Tu siervo Ben-adad dice: Ruégote que viva mi alma. Y él respondió: Si él vive aún, mi hermano es.

So they girded sackcloth on their loins, and put ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, Thy servant Ben-hadad saith, I pray thee, let me live. And he said, Is he yet alive? he is my brother.

So they put sackcloth on their bodies and ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, “Your servant Ben Hadad says, ‘Please let me live.’” He said, “Is he still alive? He is my brother.”

Os homens ouviram isso como um bom sinal de Acabe, então, rapidamente lhe responderam: "Sim, teu irmão Ben-Hadade está vivo". Então, Acabe disse: "Ide e trazei-o". Assim, Ben-Hadade veio a ele, e Acabe o convidou para entrar em sua carruagem.

Now the men did diligently observe whether any thing would come from him, and did hastily catch it: and they said, Thy brother Ben-hadad. Then he said, Go ye, bring him. Then Ben-hadad came forth to him; and he caused him to come up into the chariot.

Now the men observed diligently and hurried to take this phrase; and they said, “Your brother Ben Hadad.” Then he said, “Go, bring him.” Then Ben Hadad came out to him; and he caused him to come up into the chariot.

Ben-Hadade disse a Acabe: "Eu te restituirei as cidades que meu pai tomou de teu pai e podes fazer para ti praças em Damasco, assim como meu pai fez em Samaria". Acabe respondeu: "Eu te deixarei ir com esta aliança". Então, Acabe fez uma aliança com ele e o deixou ir.

Y díjole Ben-adad: Las ciudades que mi padre tomó al tuyo, yo las restituiré; y haz plazas en Damasco para ti, como mi padre las hizo en Samaria. Y yo, dijo Achâb, te dejaré partir con esta alianza. Hizo pues con él alianza, y dejóle ir.

And Ben-hadad said unto him, The cities, which my father took from thy father, I will restore; and thou shalt make streets for thee in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria. Then said Ahab, I will send thee away with this covenant. So he made a covenant with him, and sent him away.

Ben Hadad said to him, “The cities which my father took from your father I will restore. You shall make streets for yourself in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria.” “I”, said Ahab, “will let you go with this covenant.” So he made a covenant with him and let him go.

Um certo homem, um dos filhos dos profetas, disse a um de seus companheiros profetas pela palavra de Yahweh: "Por favor, bate em mim". Mas o homem se recusou a fazê-lo.

Entonces un varón de los hijos de los profetas dijo á su compañero por palabra de Dios: Hiéreme ahora. Mas el otro varón no quiso herirle.

And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his neighbour in the word of the LORD, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to smite him.

A certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his fellow by the LORD’s word, “Please strike me!” The man refused to strike him.

Então, o profeta disse ao seu seu companheiro profeta: "Porque não obedeceste a voz de Yahweh, assim que me deixares, serás morto por um leão". E, assim que aquele homem o deixou, um leão o encontrou e o matou.

Y él le dijo: Por cuanto no has obedecido á la palabra de Jehová, he aquí en apartándote de mí, te herirá un león. Y como se apartó de él, topóle un león, é hirióle.

Then said he unto him, Because thou hast not obeyed the voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as thou art departed from me, a lion shall slay thee. And as soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him, and slew him.

Then he said to him, “Because you have not obeyed the LORD’s voice, behold, as soon as you have departed from me, a lion will kill you.” As soon as he had departed from him, a lion found him and killed him.

Depois, o profeta encontrou outro homem e disse: "Por favor, bate em mim". Então, o homem bateu nele e o feriu.

Encontróse luego con otro hombre, y díjole: Hiéreme ahora. Y el hombre le dió un golpe, é hízole una herida.

Then he found another man, and said, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man smote him, so that in smiting he wounded him.

Then he found another man, and said, “Please strike me.” The man struck him and wounded him.

Assim, o profeta saiu e esperou pelo rei na estrada; ele havia se disfarçado com uma bandagem cobrindo os olhos.

Y el profeta se fué, y púsose delante del rey en el camino, y disfrazóse con un velo sobre los ojos.

So the prophet departed, and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with ashes upon his face.

Quando o rei passava, o profeta clamou a ele, dizendo: "Teu servo estava em plena batalha, e um soldado parou e trouxe um inimigo a mim, dizendo: 'Vigia este homem. Se ele escapar, tua vida será dada pela vida dele, ou então pagarás um talento de prata'.

Y como el rey pasaba, él dió voces al rey, y dijo: Tu siervo salió entre la tropa: y he aquí apartándose uno, trájome un hombre, diciendo: Guarda á este hombre, y si llegare á faltar, tu vida será por la suya, ó pagarás un talento de plata.

And as the king passed by, he cried unto the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man unto me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt pay a talent of silver.

As the king passed by, he cried to the king, and he said, “Your servant went out into the middle of the battle; and behold, a man came over and brought a man to me, and said, ‘Guard this man! If by any means he is missing, then your life shall be for his life, or else you shall pay a talent of silver.’

Mas, porque teu servo estava ocupado, indo aqui e ali, o soldado inimigo escapou". Então, o rei de Israel disse a ele: "Esta será tua punição — tu mesmo a decidiste".

Y como tu siervo estaba ocupado á una parte y á otra, él desapareció. Entonces el rey de Israel le dijo: Esa será tu sentencia: tú la has pronunciado.

And as thy servant was busy here and there, he was gone. And the king of Israel said unto him, So shall thy judgment be; thyself hast decided it.

As your servant was busy here and there, he was gone.” The king of Israel said to him, “So shall your judgment be. You yourself have decided it.”

Então, o profeta rapidamente removeu a bandagem de seus olhos, e o rei de Israel reconheceu que ele era um dos profetas.

Pero él se quitó de presto el velo de sobre sus ojos, y el rey de Israel conoció que era de los profetas.

And he hasted, and took the ashes away from his face; and the king of Israel discerned him that he was of the prophets.

He hurried, and took the headband away from his eyes; and the king of Israel recognized that he was one of the prophets.

O profeta disse ao rei: "Yahweh diz: 'Porque deixaste escapar de tua mão o homem que Eu havia sentenciado à morte, tua vida será tomada no lugar da vida dele, e teu povo por seu povo'".

Y él le dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Por cuanto soltaste de la mano el hombre de mi anatema, tu vida será por la suya, y tu pueblo por el suyo.

And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Because thou hast let go out of thy hand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore thy life shall go for his life, and thy people for his people.

He said to him, “The LORD says, ‘Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life will take the place of his life, and your people take the place of his people.’”

Então, o rei de Israel foi para sua casa ressentido e irado, e chegou a Samaria.
