Acabe falou para Nabote, dizendo: "Dá-me a tua vinha, para que possa transformá-la em uma horta, porque está próxima à minha casa. Em troca, eu te darei uma vinha muito melhor, ou, se tu preferires, te pagarei o valor dela em dinheiro".
Y Achâb habló á Naboth, diciendo: Dame tu viña para un huerto de legumbres, porque está cercana, junto á mi casa, y yo te daré por ella otra viña mejor que esta; ó si mejor te pareciere, te pagaré su valor en dinero.
And Ahab spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; or, if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money.

Y Naboth respondió á Achâb: Guárdeme Jehová de que yo te dé á ti la heredad de mis padres.
And Naboth said to Ahab, The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee.

Assim, Acabe foi ao seu palácio ressentido e furioso por causa da resposta que Nabote, o jezreelita, deu a ele, quando disse: "Eu não te darei a herança dos meus antepassados". Ele se deitou em sua cama, virou seu rosto e se recusou a comer.
Y vínose Achâb á su casa triste y enojado, por la palabra que Naboth de Jezreel le había respondido, diciendo: No te daré la heredad de mis padres. Y acostóse en su cama, y volvió su rostro, y no comió pan.

Assim, Jezabel escreveu cartas em nome de Acabe, selando-as com o selo dele e as enviou aos anciãos e aos nobres que se reuniam com ele e que viviam perto de Nabote.

Assim, os homens da cidade dele, os anciãos e os nobres que viviam na cidade de Nabote fizeram como Jezabel descrevera nas cartas que ela havia enviado para eles.

And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

Yahweh diz isto a ti: 'Olha, Eu trarei desgraça a ti e tu serás completamente consumido e cada um dos teus meninos, escravos e homem livre em Israel serâo cortados de ti.
He aquí yo traigo mal sobre ti, y barreré tu posteridad, y talaré de Achâb todo meante á la pared, al guardado y al desamparado en Israel:

Yahweh também falou com relação a Jezabel, dizendo: 'Os cães comerão Jezabel ao lado do muro de Jezreel.'

Não havia ninguém como Acabe, que vendeu a si mesmo para fazer o que era mau à vista de Yahweh, a quem Jezabel, sua esposa, incitou a pecar.
(A la verdad ninguno fué como Achâb, que se vendiese á hacer lo malo á los ojos de Jehová; porque Jezabel su mujer lo incitaba.

Quando Acabe ouviu essas palavras, rasgou suas vestes, cobriu-se de pano de saco, jejuou, deitou-se em pano de saco e se entristeceu muito.
