Durante três anos não houve guerra entre a Síria e Israel.

Mas no terceiro ano, enquanto Josafá, rei de Judá, visitava Acabe, rei de Israel,

Y aconteció al tercer año, que Josaphat rey de Judá descendió al rey de Israel.

And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.

Acabe perguntou aos seus auxiliares: “Vocês não sabem que os sírios ainda ocupam nossa cidade de Ramote-Gileade? E nós estamos aqui sentados sem fazer nada para retomá-la do rei da Síria?”

Y el rey de Israel dijo á sus siervos: ¿No sabéis que es nuestra Ramoth de Galaad? y nosotros callamos en orden á tomarla de mano del rey de Siria.

And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?

The king of Israel said to his servants, “You know that Ramoth Gilead is ours, and we do nothing, and don’t take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?”

Então ele se virou para Josafá e perguntou: “Você mandaria o seu exército junto com o meu para tomarmos Ramote-Gileade?” E Josafá, rei de Judá, respondeu “Mas é claro! Você e eu somos irmãos; meu povo está às suas ordens, e meus cavalos estão ao seu serviço”.

Y dijo á Josaphat: ¿Quieres venir conmigo á pelear contra Ramoth de Galaad? Y Josaphat respondió al rey de Israel: Como yo, así tú; y como mi pueblo, así tu pueblo; y como mis caballos, tus caballos.

And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramoth-gilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.

He said to Jehoshaphat, “Will you go with me to battle to Ramoth Gilead?” Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.”

E ele acrescentou: “Deveríamos primeiro perguntar ao Senhor, para termos certeza do que ele quer que façamos”.

Y dijo luego Josaphat al rey de Israel: Yo te ruego que consultes hoy la palabra de Jehová.

And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.

Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire first for the LORD’s word.”

Então Acabe mandou chamar os quatrocentos profetas e perguntou a eles: “Devemos atacar Ramote-Gileade, ou não devemos?” E todos eles disseram: “Sim, podem ir, porque o Senhor vai ajudar vocês a conquistar a cidade”.

Entonces el rey de Israel juntó los profetas, como cuatrocientos hombres, á los cuales dijo: ¿Iré á la guerra contra Ramoth de Galaad, ó la dejaré? Y ellos dijeron: Sube; porque el Señor la entregará en mano del rey.

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, “Should I go against Ramoth Gilead to battle, or should I refrain?” They said, “Go up; for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.”

Josafá, porém, perguntou: “Não existe aqui mais nenhum profeta do Senhor? Eu gostaria de consultá-lo também”.

Y dijo Josaphat: ¿Hay aún aquí algún profeta de Jehová, por el cual consultemos?

And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?

But Jehoshaphat said, “Isn’t there here a prophet of the LORD, that we may inquire of him?”

“Sim”, respondeu o rei de Israel a Josafá. “Ainda há um homem por meio de quem podemos consultar o Senhor, mas tenho ódio dele, porque ele nunca profetiza coisas boas a meu respeito. Ele sempre tem alguma coisa ruim para dizer. O nome dele é Micaías, filho de Inlá”. “O rei não deveria falar dessa maneira!”, respondeu Josafá.

Y el rey de Israel respondió á Josaphat: Aun hay un varón por el cual podríamos consultar á Jehová, Michêas, hijo de Imla: mas yo le aborrezco, porque nunca me profetiza bien, sino solamente mal. Y Josaphat dijo: No hable el rey así.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD, Micaiah the son of Imlah; but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” Jehoshaphat said, “Don’t let the king say so.”

Então o rei Acabe chamou um dos seus oficiais, ordenando: “Vá buscar Micaías, filho de Inlá. Depressa!”

Entonces el rey de Israel llamó á un eunuco, y díjole: trae presto á Michêas hijo de Imla.

Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten hither Micaiah the son of Imlah.

Enquanto isso, todos os profetas continuaram profetizando diante dos dois reis. Os reis estavam vestidos com suas vestes reais, sentados em tronos colocados junto à porta de entrada da cidade.

Y el rey de Israel y Josaphat rey de Judá estaban sentados cada uno en su silla, vestidos de sus ropas reales, en la plaza junto á la entrada de la puerta de Samaria; y todos los profetas profetizaban delante de ellos.

And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.

Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.

Um dos profetas, Zedequias, filho de Quenaaná, fez alguns chifres de ferro e disse: “Assim diz o Senhor: ‘Com estes chifres o senhor ferirá os sírios, até que sejam destruídos’ ”.

Y Sedechîas hijo de Chânaana se había hecho unos cuernos de hierro, y dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Con éstos acornearás á los Siros hasta acabarlos.

And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the LORD, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them.

Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made himself horns of iron, and said, “The LORD says, ‘With these you will push the Syrians, until they are consumed.’”

E todos os outros concordaram, dizendo: “Vá e ataque Ramote-Gileade, porque o Senhor fará com que seja vitorioso!”

Y todos los profetas profetizaban de la misma manera, diciendo: Sube á Ramoth de Galaad, y serás prosperado; que Jehová la dará en mano del rey.

And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the king’s hand.

All the prophets prophesied so, saying, “Go up to Ramoth Gilead and prosper; for the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.”

O mensageiro que foi buscar Micaías lhe disse: “Veja! Todos os outros profetas profetizam que o rei terá sucesso. Sua palavra também deve ser favorável”.

Y el mensajero que había ido á llamar á Michêas, hablóle, diciendo: He aquí las palabras de los profetas á una boca anuncian al rey bien: sea ahora tu palabra conforme á la palabra de alguno de ellos, y anuncia bien.

And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.

The messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, “See now, the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth. Please let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak good.”

Micaías, porém, respondeu: “Tão certo como vive o Senhor, vou dizer somente o que o Senhor me mandar dizer!”

Y Michêas respondió: Vive Jehová, que lo que Jehová me hablare, eso diré.

And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will I speak.

Micaiah said, “As the LORD lives, what the LORD says to me, that I will speak.”

Quando ele chegou, o rei perguntou: “Micaías, devemos atacar Ramote-Gileade ou não devemos?” “Naturalmente que deve! Não perca tempo!” Micaías disse a ele. “O rei terá uma grande vitória, porque o Senhor vai fazer com que ele vença!”

Vino pues al rey, y el rey le dijo: Michêas, ¿iremos á pelear contra Ramoth de Galaad, ó la dejaremos? Y él le respondió: Sube, que serás prosperado, y Jehová la entregará en mano del rey.

So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

When he had come to the king, the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall we forbear?” He answered him, “Go up and prosper; and the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.”

“Quantas vezes preciso dizer a você que fale somente a verdade em nome do Senhor!”, disse o rei.

Y el rey le dijo: ¿Hasta cuántas veces he de conjurarte que no me digas sino la verdad en el nombre de Jehová?

And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD?

The king said to him, “How many times do I have to adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the LORD’s name?”

Então Micaías disse a ele: “Eu vi todo o Israel espalhado pelos montes, como ovelhas sem pastor, e ouvi o Senhor dizer: ‘Estes homens não têm líder; que eles voltem em paz para suas casas’ ”.

Entonces él dijo: Yo ví á todo Israel esparcido por los montes, como ovejas que no tienen pastor: y Jehová dijo: Estos no tienen señor; vuélvase cada uno á su casa en paz.

And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.

He said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. The LORD said, ‘These have no master. Let them each return to his house in peace.’”

Virando-se para Josafá, Acabe disse a Josafá: “Eu não falei que isso iria acontecer? Ele nunca profetiza nada de bom. Apenas o que é ruim”.

Y el rey de Israel dijo á Josaphat: ¿No te lo había yo dicho? Ninguna cosa buena profetizará él acerca de mí, sino solamente mal.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Didn’t I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”

Micaías falou em seguida: “Ouça mais esta palavra do Senhor: Vi o Senhor assentado no seu trono, e os exércitos dos céus estavam junto a ele, à direita e à esquerda.

Entonces él dijo: Oye pues palabra de Jehová: Yo vi á Jehová sentado en su trono, y todo el ejército de los cielos estaba junto á él, á su diestra y á su siniestra.

And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the LORD’s word. I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

“Então o Senhor disse: ‘Quem é capaz de enganar a Acabe, para que ele vá e morra no ataque em Ramote-Gileade?’ “Várias sugestões foram feitas,

Y Jehová dijo: ¿Quién inducirá á Achâb, para que suba y caiga en Ramoth de Galaad? Y uno decía de una manera; y otro decía de otra.

And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.

The LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ One said one thing, and another said another.

até que, finalmente, um espírito se aproximou diante do Senhor e disse: ‘Eu o enganarei!’

Y salió un espíritu, y púsose delante de Jehová, y dijo: Yo le induciré. Y Jehová le dijo: ¿De qué manera?

And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him.

A spirit came out and stood before the LORD, and said, ‘I will entice him.’

“ ‘De que maneira?’, o Senhor perguntou. “E ele respondeu: ‘Eu serei um espírito mentiroso na boca de todos os profetas do rei’. “E o Senhor disse: ‘Vá e engane Acabe. Você será bem-sucedido’.

Y él dijo: Yo saldré, y seré espíritu de mentira en boca de todos sus profetas. Y él dijo: Inducirlo has, y aun saldrás con ello; sal pues, y hazlo así.

And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.

The LORD said to him, ‘How?’ He said, ‘I will go out and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ He said, ‘You will entice him, and will also prevail. Go out and do so.’

“E o Senhor pôs um espírito mentiroso na boca de todos esses profetas. O Senhor determinou a sua desgraça”.

Y ahora, he aquí Jehová ha puesto espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos estos tus profetas, y Jehová ha decretado el mal acerca de ti.

Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.

Now therefore, behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; and the LORD has spoken evil concerning you.”

Então Zedequias, filho de Quenaaná, chegou perto de Micaías e lhe deu uma bofetada no rosto e perguntou: “Quando foi que o Espírito do meu Senhor me deixou para falar a você?”

Llegándose entonces Sedechîas hijo de Chânaana, hirió á Michêas en la mejilla, diciendo: ¿Por dónde se fué de mí el espíritu de Jehová para hablarte á ti?

But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?

Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did the LORD’s Spirit go from me to speak to you?”

Micaías respondeu: “Você receberá a resposta à sua pergunta quando procurar esconder-se num quarto interior”.

Y Michêas respondió: He aquí tú lo verás en aquel día, cuando te irás metiendo de cámara en cámara por esconderte.

And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.

Micaiah said, “Behold, you will see on that day when you go into an inner room to hide yourself.”

Então o rei Acabe ordenou: “Levem Micaías de volta a Amom, o governador da cidade, e a Joás, o filho do rei.

Entonces el rey de Israel dijo: Toma á Michêas, y vuélvelo á Amón gobernador de la ciudad, y á Joas hijo del rey;

And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;

The king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king’s son.

Digam a eles: ‘Assim diz o rei: Ponham este homem na cadeia e deem a ele pão e água, o suficiente para conservá-lo vivo, até que eu volte em paz’ ”.

Y dirás: Así ha dicho el rey: Echad á éste en la cárcel, y mantenedle con pan de angustia y con agua de aflicción, hasta que yo vuelva en paz.

And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.

Say, ‘The king says, “Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.”’”

Micaías respondeu: “Se você de fato voltar em paz, então é prova de que o Senhor não falou por meu intermédio”. E acrescentou: “Tomem nota do que eu disse, todos vocês!”

Y dijo Michêas: Si llegares á volver en paz, Jehová no ha hablado por mí. En seguida dijo: Oid, pueblos todos.

And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you.

Micaiah said, “If you return at all in peace, the LORD has not spoken by me.” He said, “Listen, all you people!”

Então Acabe, rei de Israel, e Josafá, rei de Judá, levaram seus exércitos para Ramote-Gileade.

Subió pues el rey de Israel con Josaphat rey de Judá á Ramoth de Galaad.

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.

Acabe disse a Josafá: “Você usará suas roupas reais, e eu entrarei disfarçado em combate!” Assim o rei de Israel foi para a batalha disfarçado no uniforme de um soldado comum, e ambos foram para a guerra.

Y el rey de Israel dijo á Josaphat: Yo me disfrazaré, y entraré en la batalla: y tú vístete tus vestidos. Y el rey de Israel se disfrazó, y entró en la batalla.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself and go into the battle, but you put on your robes.” The king of Israel disguised himself and went into the battle.

Acontece que o rei da Síria tinha dado ordens aos seus trinta e dois chefes de carros de guerra: “Não lutem contra ninguém, a não ser contra o próprio rei de Israel”.

Mas el rey de Siria había mandado á sus treinta y dos capitanes de los carros, diciendo: No peleéis vosotros ni con grande ni con chico, sino sólo contra el rey de Israel.

But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.

Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, “Don’t fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel.”

Quando os chefes dos carros viram o rei Josafá em suas vestes reais, pensaram: “É o rei de Israel”, e cercaram o carro dele para atacá-lo. Mas quando Josafá gritou,

Y como los capitanes de los carros vieron á Josaphat, dijeron: Ciertamente éste es el rey de Israel; y viniéronse á él para pelear con él; mas el rey Josaphat dió voces.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out.

When the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “Surely that is the king of Israel!” and they came over to fight against him. Jehoshaphat cried out.

eles viram que não era o rei de Israel, e deixaram de persegui-lo!

Viendo entonces los capitanes de los carros que no era el rey de Israel, apartáronse de él.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.

When the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.

Todavia, alguém atirou uma flecha por acaso, e ela atingiu o rei Acabe entre as juntas da sua armadura de proteção. “Levem-me para fora da batalha, pois estou ferido”, disse, gemendo, ao condutor do seu carro.

Y un hombre disparando su arco á la ventura, hirió al rey de Israel por entre las junturas de la armadura; por lo que dijo él á su carretero: Toma la vuelta, y sácame del campo, que estoy herido.

And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.

A certain man drew his bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn around, and carry me out of the battle, for I am severely wounded.”

A batalha ia ficando cada vez mais violenta à medida que as horas passavam. O rei Acabe teve de enfrentar os sírios ficando apoiado no seu carro. O sangue do seu ferimento escorria para o fundo do seu carro de guerra e, afinal, ao cair da tarde, ele morreu.

Mas la batalla había arreciado aquel día, y el rey estuvo en su carro delante de los Siros, y á la tarde murió: y la sangre de la herida corría por el seno del carro.

And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot.

The battle increased that day. The king was propped up in his chariot facing the Syrians, and died at evening. The blood ran out of the wound into the bottom of the chariot.

Logo ao pôr do sol propagou-se esta notícia entre os seus soldados: “Tudo está acabado. Cada homem volte para a sua casa! Cada um para a sua terra!”

Y á puesta del sol salió un pregón por el campo, diciendo: ¡Cada uno á su ciudad, y cada cual á su tierra!

And there went a proclamation throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country.

A cry went throughout the army about the going down of the sun, saying, “Every man to his city, and every man to his country!”

Assim o rei morreu e o seu corpo foi levado para Samaria e ali foi sepultado.

Y murió pues el rey, y fué traído á Samaria; y sepultaron al rey en Samaria.

So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.

Quando o seu carro de guerra e a sua armadura eram lavados ao lado do açude de Samaria, onde as prostitutas se banhavam, os cães vieram e lamberam o sangue do rei, exatamente como o Senhor tinha dito que iria acontecer.

Y lavaron el carro en el estanque de Samaria; lavaron también sus armas; y los perros lamieron su sangre, conforme á la palabra de Jehová que había hablado.

And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the LORD which he spake.

They washed the chariot by the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood where the prostitutes washed themselves, according to the LORD’s word which he spoke.

Os demais acontecimentos da história de Acabe, incluindo a história do palácio com o revestimento de marfim e das cidades que ele construiu, estão escritos no Livro da História dos Reis de Israel.

Assim Acabe foi sepultado entre os seus antepassados, e o seu filho Acazias se tornou rei de Israel em seu lugar.

Josafá, filho de Asa, tornou-se rei de Judá no quarto ano do reinado de Acabe, rei de Israel.

Josafá tinha trinta e cinco anos de idade quando subiu ao trono, e reinou em Jerusalém durante vinte e cinco anos. Sua mãe se chamava Azuba, filha de Sili.

Y era Josaphat de treinta y cinco años cuando comenzó á reinar, y reinó veinticinco años en Jerusalem. El nombre de su madre fué Azuba hija de Silai.

Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
