1Salomón se convirtió en el yerno de Faraón, rey de Egipto, y tomó a la hija de Faraón como su esposa, manteniéndola en la ciudad de David, hasta que la casa que él estaba construyendo para él, y la casa del Señor y el muro alrededor de Jerusalén, estuvieran completos.
2Pero todo este tiempo la gente estaba haciendo sus ofrendas en los lugares altos, porque ninguna casa había sido puesta al nombre del Señor hasta aquellos días.
3Y Salomón, en su amor por el Señor, guardó las leyes de David su padre; aunque él ofreció sacrificios e incienso en los lugares altos.
4Y el rey fue a Gabaón para hacer una ofrenda allí, porque ese era el lugar alto principal: Salomón hizo mil ofrendas quemadas en ese altar.
5En Gabaón, Salomón tuvo una visión del Señor en un sueño nocturno; Y Dios le dijo: Pídeme lo que quieras y yo te lo daré.
6Y Salomón dijo: Grande fue tu misericordia para con David mi padre, como su vida ante ti era verdadera y recta y su corazón era verdadero para ti; y has guardado para él esta gran misericordia, un hijo que tomará su lugar este día.
7Y ahora, oh Señor Dios mío, has hecho a tu siervo rey en lugar de David mi padre; y solo soy un muchacho joven, sin saber cómo salir o entrar.
8Y su siervo tiene a su alrededor a la gente de su elección, un pueblo tan grande que no pueden ser contados, y no se puede dar cuenta de ellos.
9Da a tu siervo, pues, un corazón sabio para juzgar a tu pueblo, capaz de ver lo que es bueno y lo que es malo; ¿Quién puede ser el juez de este gran pueblo?
10Ahora bien, estas palabras y la petición de Salomón fueron agradables al Señor.
11Y Dios le dijo: Porque tu petición es para esto, y no para una larga vida para ti o para la riqueza o para la destrucción de tus enemigos, sino para que la sabiduría sea un juez de causas;
12He hecho lo que has pedido: te he dado un corazón sabio y entendido, como nadie lo ha tenido antes que tú, y nunca habrá otro como tu en el futuro.
13Y además de esto te doy lo que no pediste: riqueza y honor, para que ningún rey sea tu igual.
14Y si sigues mis caminos, guardando mis leyes y mis órdenes como lo hizo tu padre David, te daré una larga vida.
15Y despertando Salomón, vio que era un sueño; luego vino a Jerusalén, donde fue delante del cofre del pacto del Señor, ofreciendo ofrendas quemadas y ofrendas de paz; e hizo una fiesta para todos sus siervos.
16Entonces, dos prostitutas del pueblo vinieron y tomaron su lugar ante el rey;
17Y uno de ellos dijo: Oh señor mío, esta mujer y yo vivimos en la misma casa; Y di a luz a un niño a su lado en la casa.
18Y tres días después del nacimiento de mi hijo, esta mujer tuvo un hijo: estábamos juntas , ninguna otra persona estaba con nosotros en la casa, solo nosotras dos.
19En la noche, esta mujer, durmiendo sobre su hijo, fue la causa de su muerte.
20Se levantó en medio de la noche y se llevó a mi hijo de mi lado mientras tu sierva dormía. y ella lo tomó en sus brazos y puso a su hijo muerto en mis brazos.
21Y cuando me levanté para darle el pecho a mi hijo, vi que estaba muerto; Pero por la mañana, mirándolo con cuidado, vi que no era mi hijo.
22Y la otra mujer dijo: No; Pero el niño vivo es mi hijo y el muerto tuyo. Pero la primera dijo: No; él niño muerto es tu hijo y el vivo el mío. Así siguieron hablando delante del rey.
23Entonces el rey dijo: Una dice: El hijo vivo es mi hijo, y el tuyo es el muerto; y la otra dice: No así; Pero tu hijo es el muerto y el mío es el que vive.
24Y él dijo: Tráeme una espada. Y fueron y pusieron una espada delante del rey.
25Y el rey dijo: Que se corte al niño vivo en dos y una mitad para una mujer y una para la otra.
26Entonces la madre del niño viviente se adelantó, porque su corazón se acercó a su hijo, y ella dijo: Señor mío, dale el hijo; No lo pongas a muerte. Pero la otra mujer dijo: No será mío ni tuyo; Que se corte en dos.
27Entonces el rey respondió y dijo: Dale el hijo, y no lo mates; Ella es la verdadera madre.
28Y la noticia de esta decisión que había tomado el rey pasó por todo Israel; y temían al rey, porque veían que la sabiduría de Dios estaba en él para tomar decisiones.

1Y SALOMÓN hizo parentesco con Faraón rey de Egipto, porque tomó la hija de Faraón, y trájola á la ciudad de David, entre tanto que acababa de edificar su casa, y la casa de Jehová, y los muros de Jerusalem alrededor.
2Hasta entonces el pueblo sacrificaba en los altos; porque no había casa edificada al nombre de Jehová hasta aquellos tiempos.
3Mas Salomón amó á Jehová, andando en los estatutos de su padre David: solamente sacrificaba y quemaba perfumes en los altos.
4E iba el rey á Gabaón, porque aquél era el alto principal, y sacrificaba allí: mil holocaustos sacrificaba Salomón sobre aquel altar.
5Y aparecióse Jehová á Salomón en Gabaón una noche en sueños, y díjole Dios: Pide lo que quisieres que yo te dé.
6Y Salomón dijo: Tú hiciste gran misericordia á tu siervo David mi padre, según que él anduvo delante de ti en verdad, en justicia, y con rectitud de corazón para contigo: y tú le has guardado esta tu grande misericordia, que le diste hijo que se sentase en su trono, como sucede en este día.
7Ahora pues, Jehová Dios mío, tú has puesto á mí tu siervo por rey en lugar de David mi padre: y yo soy mozo pequeño, que no sé cómo entrar ni salir.
8Y tu siervo está en medio de tu pueblo al cual tú escogiste; un pueblo grande, que no se puede contar ni numerar por su multitud.
9Da pues á tu siervo corazón dócil para juzgar á tu pueblo, para discernir entre lo bueno y lo malo: porque ¿quién podrá gobernar este tu pueblo tan grande?
10Y agradó delante de Adonai que Salomón pidiese esto.
11Y díjole Dios: Porque has demandado esto, y no pediste para ti muchos días, ni pediste para ti riquezas, ni pediste la vida de tus enemigos, mas demandaste para ti inteligencia para oir juicio;
12He aquí lo he hecho conforme á tus palabras: he aquí que te he dado corazón sabio y entendido, tanto que no haya habido antes de ti otro como tú, ni después de ti se levantará otro como tú.
13Y aun también te he dado las cosas que no pediste, riquezas y gloria: tal, que entre los reyes ninguno haya como tú en todos tus días.
14Y si anduvieres en mis caminos, guardando mis estatutos y mis mandamientos, como anduvo David tu padre, yo alargaré tus días.
15Y como Salomón despertó, vió que era sueño: y vino á Jerusalem, y presentóse delante del arca del pacto de Jehová, y sacrificó holocaustos, é hizo pacíficos; hizo también banquete á todos sus siervos.
16En aquella sazón vinieron dos mujeres rameras al rey, y presentáronse delante de él.
17Y dijo la una mujer: ¡Ah, señor mío! yo y esta mujer morábamos en una misma casa, y yo parí estando con ella en la casa.
18Y aconteció al tercer día después que yo parí, que ésta parió también, y morábamos nosotras juntas; ninguno de fuera estaba en casa, sino nosotras dos en la casa.
19Y una noche el hijo de esta mujer murió, porque ella se acostó sobre él.
20Y levantóse á media noche, y tomó á mi hijo de junto á mí, estando yo tu sierva durmiendo, y púsolo á su lado, y púsome á mi lado su hijo muerto.
21Y como yo me levanté por la mañana para dar el pecho á mi hijo, he aquí que estaba muerto: mas observéle por la mañana, y vi que no era mi hijo, que yo había parido.
22Entonces la otra mujer dijo: No; mi hijo es el que vive, y tu hijo es el muerto. Y la otra volvió á decir: No; tu hijo es el muerto, y mi hijo es el que vive. Así hablaban delante del rey.
23El rey entonces dijo: Esta dice: Mi hijo es el que vive, y tu hijo es el muerto: y la otra dice, No, mas el tuyo es el muerto, y mi hijo es el que vive.
24Y dijo el rey: Traedme un cuchillo. Y trajeron al rey un cuchillo.
25En seguida el rey dijo: Partid por medio el niño vivo, y dad la mitad á la una, y la otra mitad á la otra.
26Entonces la mujer cuyo era el hijo vivo, habló al rey (porque sus entrañas se le conmovieron por su hijo), y dijo: ¡Ah, señor mío! dad á ésta el niño vivo, y no lo matéis. Mas la otra dijo: Ni á mí ni á ti; partidlo.
27Entonces el rey respondió, y dijo: Dad á aquélla el hijo vivo, y no lo matéis: ella es su madre.
28Y todo Israel oyó aquel juicio que había dado el rey: y temieron al rey, porque vieron que había en él sabiduría de Dios para juzgar.
King James Version
1And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh’s daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.
2Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.
3And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.
4And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.
5In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.
6And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
7And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.
8And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
9Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
10And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
11And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;
12Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.
13And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.
14And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.
15And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.
16Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.
17And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.
18And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.
19And this woman’s child died in the night; because she overlaid it.
20And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.
21And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.
22And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.
23Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.
24And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.
25And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.
26Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.
27Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.
28And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.
World English Bible
1Solomon made a marriage alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt. He took Pharaoh’s daughter and brought her into David’s city until he had finished building his own house, the LORD’s house, and the wall around Jerusalem.
2However, the people sacrificed in the high places, because there was not yet a house built for the LORD’s name.
3Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father, except that he sacrificed and burned incense in the high places.
4The king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place. Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.
5In Gibeon, the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask for what I should give you.”

7Now, LORD my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father. I am just a little child. I don’t know how to go out or come in.

9Give your servant therefore an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this great people of yours?”

20She arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me while your servant slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.
21When I rose in the morning to nurse my child, behold, he was dead; but when I had looked at him in the morning, behold, it was not my son whom I bore.”
22The other woman said, “No! But the living one is my son, and the dead one is your son.” The first one said, “No! But the dead one is your son, and the living one is my son.” They argued like this before the king.
23Then the king said, “One says, ‘This is my son who lives, and your son is the dead one;’ and the other says, ‘No! But your son is the dead one, and my son is the living one.’”
24The king said, “Get me a sword.” So they brought a sword before the king.
25The king said, “Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.”
26Then the woman whose the living child was spoke to the king, for her heart yearned over her son, and she said, “Oh, my lord, give her the living child, and in no way kill him!” But the other said, “He shall be neither mine nor yours. Divide him.”
27Then the king answered, “Give the first woman the living child, and definitely do not kill him. She is his mother.”
28All Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to do justice.
