que tengan gracia y paz en abundancia. Dios el Padre los eligió de acuerdo con su propósito y por medio del Espíritu los ha santificado, para que obedezcan a Jesucristo y sean salvados por su sangre.
Elegidos según la presciencia de Dios Padre en santificación del Espíritu, para obedecer y ser rociados con la sangre de Jesucristo: Gracia y paz os sea multiplicada.
Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

y recibamos una herencia que no se puede destruir ni marchitar ni manchar. Esa es la herencia que está reservada en el cielo para ustedes,

To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

a quienes Dios protege con su poder por la fe, hasta que llegue la salvación que se dará a conocer en lo últimos tiempos.
Para nosotros que somos guardados en la virtud de Dios por fe, para alcanzar la salud que está aparejada para ser manifestada en el postrimero tiempo.
Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Esto es lo que a ustedes los llena de alegría, a pesar de tener que sufrir diversas pruebas por algún tiempo.
En lo cual vosotros os alegráis, estando al presente un poco de tiempo afligidos en diversas tentaciones, si es necesario,
Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved in various trials,
La fe de ustedes es como el oro que tiene que probarse por medio del fuego. Así también su fe, que vale mucho más que el oro, tiene que probarse por medio de los problemas y, si es aprobada, recibirá gloria y honor cuando Jesucristo aparezca.
Para que la prueba de vuestra fe, mucho más preciosa que el oro, el cual perece, bien que sea probado con fuego, sea hallada en alabanza, gloria y honra, cuando Jesucristo fuere manifestado:
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
that the proof of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes, even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ—
Ustedes aman a Jesucristo a pesar de que no lo han visto; y aunque ahora no lo ven, creen en él y se llenan de una gran alegría,
Al cual, no habiendo visto, le amáis; en el cual creyendo, aunque al presente no lo veáis, os alegráis con gozo inefable y glorificado;
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
whom, not having known, you love. In him, though now you don’t see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with joy that is unspeakable and full of glory,
porque están obteniendo su salvación que es la meta de su fe.
Obteniendo el fin de vuestra fe, que es la salud de vuestras almas.
Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Los profetas estudiaron cuidadosamente acerca de esta salvación; ellos anunciaron la gracia reservada para ustedes.
De la cual salud los profetas que profetizaron de la gracia que había de venir á vosotros, han inquirido y diligentemente buscado,
Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
Concerning this salvation, the prophets sought and searched diligently. They prophesied of the grace that would come to you,
Querían descubrir a qué tiempo y a qué circunstancias se refería el Espíritu de Cristo que estaba en ellos, cuando de antemano les hizo saber lo que Cristo sufriría y la gloria que vendría después de esos sufrimientos.
Escudriñando cuándo y en qué punto de tiempo significaba el Espíritu de Cristo que estaba en ellos, el cual prenunciaba las aflicciones que habían de venir á Cristo, y las glorias después de ellas.
Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

A ellos se les hizo saber que no se estaban sirviendo a ellos mismos, sino a ustedes. Los profetas hablaban de las cosas que ahora les han anunciado a ustedes los que les predicaron el evangelio con el poder del Espíritu Santo que fue enviado desde el cielo. Los mismos ángeles quisieran contemplar estas cosas.
A los cuales fué revelado, que no para sí mismos, sino para nosotros administraban las cosas que ahora os son anunciadas de los que os han predicado el evangelio por el Espíritu Santo enviado del cielo; en las cuales desean mirar los ángeles.
Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
To them it was revealed that they served not themselves, but you, in these things, which now have been announced to you through those who preached the Good News to you by the Holy Spirit sent out from heaven; which things angels desire to look into.
Por eso, estén listos para actuar con inteligencia y tengan dominio propio. Pongan su esperanza completamente en lo que se les dará cuando Jesucristo regrese.
Por lo cual, teniendo los lomos de vuestro entendimiento ceñidos, con templanza, esperad perfectamente en la gracia que os es presentada cuando Jesucristo os es manifestado:
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
Therefore prepare your minds for action. Be sober, and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ—
Sean hijos obedientes, no hagan todas las cosas malas que hacían antes, cuando vivían sin conocer a Dios.
Como hijos obedientes, no conformándoos con los deseos que antes teníais estando en vuestra ignorancia;
As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
as children of obedience, not conforming yourselves according to your former lusts as in your ignorance,
Más bien, vivan ustedes de manera totalmente santa, así como también es santo el que los llamó;
Sino como aquel que os ha llamado es santo, sed también vosotros santos en toda conversación:
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
but just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior,
pues en la Escritura dice: «Sean santos, porque yo soy santo».
Porque escrito está: Sed santos, porque yo soy santo.
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
Ya que ustedes dicen que es su Padre el que juzga las obras de cada uno sin tener favoritos, entonces vivan dándole la honra mientras estén de paso por este mundo.
Y si invocáis por Padre á aquel que sin acepción de personas juzga según la obra de cada uno, conversad en temor todo el tiempo de vuestra peregrinación:
And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
If you call on him as Father, who without respect of persons judges according to each man’s work, pass the time of your living as foreigners here in reverent fear,
Como bien saben, a ustedes los rescataron de la vida inútil que heredaron de sus antepasados. Su rescate no se pagó con cosas que se acaban, como el oro y la plata,
Sabiendo que habéis sido rescatados de vuestra vana conversación, la cual recibisteis de vuestros padres, no con cosas corruptibles, como oro ó plata;
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
knowing that you were redeemed, not with corruptible things like silver or gold, from the useless way of life handed down from your fathers,
sino con la preciosa sangre de Cristo, que fue como un cordero sin mancha y sin defecto.
Sino con la sangre preciosa de Cristo, como de un cordero sin mancha y sin contaminación:
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
but with precious blood, as of a lamb without blemish or spot, the blood of Christ,
A Cristo, Dios lo había escogido desde antes de la creación del mundo, y él apareció en estos últimos tiempos para bien de ustedes.
Ya ordenado de antes de la fundación del mundo, pero manifestado en los postrimeros tiempos por amor de vosotros,
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in this last age for your sake,
Por medio de Cristo, ustedes creen en Dios, que lo resucitó y lo llenó de gloria, para que ustedes pongan su fe y esperanza en Dios.
Que por él creéis á Dios, el cual le resucitó de los muertos, y le ha dado gloria, para que vuestra fe y esperanza sea en Dios.
Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope might be in God.
Ahora que ustedes se han purificado porque obedecen a la verdad y tienen un amor sincero por sus hermanos, ámense con todo su corazón unos a otros,
Habiendo purificado vuestra almas en la obediencia de la verdad, por el Espíritu, en caridad hermanable sin fingimiento, amaos unos á otros entrañablemente de corazón puro:
Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
Seeing you have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth through the Spirit in sincere brotherly affection, love one another from the heart fervently,
pues ustedes han nacido de nuevo, no de padres mortales, sino de la palabra de Dios que vive y permanece.
Siendo renacidos, no de simiente corruptible, sino de incorruptible, por la palabra de Dios, que vive y permanece para siempre.
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which lives and remains forever.
«Todo humano es como la hierba, y toda su gloria como la flor del campo; la hierba se seca y la flor se cae,
Porque Toda carne es como la hierba, y toda la gloria del hombre como la flor de la hierba: secóse la hierba, y la flor se cayó;
For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
For, “All flesh is like grass, and all of man’s glory like the flower in the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls;
pero la palabra del Señor permanece para siempre». Y esta es la palabra del evangelio que se les ha anunciado a ustedes.
Mas la palabra del Señor permanece perpetuamente. Y esta es la palabra que por el evangelio os ha sido anunciada.
But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
but the Lord’s word endures forever.” This is the word of Good News which was preached to you.
