DEJANDO pues toda malicia, y todo engaño, y fingimientos, y envidias, y todas las detracciones,
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,
désirez avec ardeur, comme des enfants nouveau-nés, le lait pur qui se trouve dans la Parole, afin que, par lui, vous croissiez pour le salut,
Desead, como niños recién nacidos, la leche espiritual, sin engaño, para que por ella crezcáis en salud:
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
as newborn babies, long for the pure spiritual milk, that with it you may grow,
si vous avez goûté que le Seigneur est bon.
Si empero habéis gustado que el Señor es benigno;
If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Vous approchant de lui, pierre vivante, réprouvée, il est vrai, par les hommes, mais devant Dieu choisie et précieuse,

To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

vous aussi, comme des pierres vivantes, soyez édifiés en maison spirituelle, pour former une sacrificature sainte, pour offrir des sacrifices spirituels agréables à Dieu, par Jésus-Christ.
Vosotros también, como piedras vivas, sed edificados una casa espiritual, y un sacerdocio santo, para ofrecer sacrificios espirituales, agradables á Dios por Jesucristo.
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Car il est dit dans l'Ecriture : Voici, je pose en Sion une pierre angulaire, choisie et précieuse ; et celui qui croit en elle, ne sera point confus.
Por lo cual también contiene la Escritura: He aquí, pongo en Sión la principal piedra del ángulo, escogida, preciosa; y el que creyere en ella, no será confundido.
Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
Because it is contained in Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen and precious. He who believes in him will not be disappointed.”
A vous donc qui croyez, l'honneur ; mais pour les incrédules, la pierre qu'ont rejetée ceux qui bâtissaient, est devenue la principale pierre de l'angle, et une pierre d'achoppement et un rocher de scandale ;
Ella es pues honor á vosotros que creéis: mas para los desobedientes, la piedra que los edificadores reprobaron, ésta fué hecha la cabeza del ángulo;
Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

ils s'y heurtent, n'obéissant pas à la Parole, à quoi aussi ils ont été destinés.
Y Piedra de tropiezo, y roca de escándalo á aquellos que tropiezan en la palabra, siendo desobedientes; para lo cual fueron también ordenados.
And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
vous qui autrefois n'étiez point un peuple, mais qui maintenant êtes le peuple de Dieu ; vous qui n'aviez pas obtenu miséricorde, mais qui maintenant avez obtenu miséricorde.
Vosotros, que en el tiempo pasado no erais pueblo, mas ahora sois pueblo de Dios; que en el tiempo pasado no habíais alcanzado misericordia, mas ahora habéis alcanzado misericordia.
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Bien-aimés, je vous exhorte, comme des étrangers et des voyageurs, à vous abstenir des convoitises charnelles, qui font la guerre à l'âme ;
Amados, yo os ruego como á extranjeros y peregrinos, os abstengáis de los deseos carnales que batallan contra el alma,
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

ayant une bonne conduite parmi les païens, afin que, tandis qu'ils vous calomnient comme des gens qui font le mal, en vous observant, à cause de vos bonnes œuvres, ils glorifient Dieu au jour de la visitation.
Teniendo vuestra conversación honesta entre los Gentiles; para que, en lo que ellos murmuran de vosotros como de malhechores, glorifiquen á Dios en el día de la visitación, estimándoos por las buenas obras.
Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Car telle est la volonté de Dieu, qu'en faisant le bien vous fermiez la bouche à l'ignorance des hommes dépourvus de sens ;

For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

vous conduisant en hommes libres, et non en hommes qui font de la liberté un voile pour couvrir leur méchanceté, mais en esclaves de Dieu.
Como libres, y no como teniendo la libertad por cobertura de malicia, sino como siervos de Dios.
As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
Live as free people, yet not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.
Honorez tous les hommes ; aimez les frères ; craignez Dieu ; honorez le roi.

Car c'est une grâce si quelqu'un, par motif de conscience envers Dieu, endure des afflictions, en souffrant injustement.
Porque esto es agradable, si alguno á causa de la conciencia delante de Dios, sufre molestias padeciendo injustamente.
For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.
En effet, quelle gloire y a-t-il si, étant frappés pour avoir commis des fautes, vous l'endurez ? Mais si vous souffrez tout en faisant le bien et que vous l'enduriez, c'est une grâce devant Dieu.
Porque ¿qué gloria es, si pecando vosotros sois abofeteados, y lo sufrís? mas si haciendo bien sois afligidos, y lo sufrís, esto ciertamente es agradable delante de Dios.
For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.
C'est à cela, en effet, que vous avez été appelés, parce que Christ aussi a souffert pour vous, vous laissant un exemple, afin que vous suiviez ses traces ;
Porque para esto sois llamados; pues que también Cristo padeció por nosotros, dejándonos ejemplo, para que vosotros sigáis sus pisadas:
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

lui qui n'a point commis de péché, et dans la bouche duquel il ne s'est point trouvé de fraude ;
El cual no hizo pecado; ni fué hallado engaño en su boca:

qui, outragé, ne rendait point d'outrage, souffrant, ne faisait point de menaces, mais s'en remettait à Celui qui juge justement ;
Quien cuando le maldecían, no retornaba maldición; cuando padecía, no amenazaba, sino remitía la causa al que juzga justamente:
Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
When he was cursed, he didn’t curse back. When he suffered, he didn’t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously.
qui lui-même a porté nos péchés en son corps sur le bois, afin qu'étant morts au péché, nous vivions pour la justice ; lui, par les meurtrissures duquel vous avez été guéris.
El cual mismo llevó nuestros pecados en su cuerpo sobre el madero, para que nosotros siendo muertos á los pecados, vivamos á la justicia: por la herida del cual habéis sido sanados.
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Car vous étiez errants comme des brebis ; mais vous êtes maintenant retournés au berger et gardien de vos âmes.
Porque vosotros erais como ovejas descarriadas; mas ahora habéis vuelto al Pastor y Obispo de vuestras almas.
For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
For you were going astray like sheep; but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
