So leget nun ab aile Bosheit und alien Betrug und Heuchelei und Neid und alles Afterreden;

DEJANDO pues toda malicia, y todo engaño, y fingimientos, y envidias, y todas las detracciones,

Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,

und seid gierig nach der vernunftigen lautern Milch als die jetzt gebornen Kindlein, auf daß ihr durch dieselbige zunehmet,

Desead, como niños recién nacidos, la leche espiritual, sin engaño, para que por ella crezcáis en salud:

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

as newborn babies, long for the pure spiritual milk, that with it you may grow,

so ihr anders geschmecket habt, daß der Herr freundlich ist,

Si empero habéis gustado que el Señor es benigno;

If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

zu welchem ihr kommen seid als zu dem lebendigen Stein, der von den Menschen verworfen, aber bei Gott ist er auserwahlet und kdstlich.

Al cual allegándoos, piedra viva, reprobada cierto de los hombres, empero elegida de Dios, preciosa,

To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

Come to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.

Und auch ihr, als die lebendigen Steine, bauet euch zum geistlichen Hause und zum heiligen Priestertum, zu opfern geistliche Opfer, die Gott angenehm sind durch Jesum Christum.

Vosotros también, como piedras vivas, sed edificados una casa espiritual, y un sacerdocio santo, para ofrecer sacrificios espirituales, agradables á Dios por Jesucristo.

Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

You also as living stones are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Darum stehet in der Schrift: Siehe da, ich lege einen auserwahlten, kostlichen Eckstein in Zion; und wer an ihn glaubet, der soil nicht zuschanden werden.

Por lo cual también contiene la Escritura: He aquí, pongo en Sión la principal piedra del ángulo, escogida, preciosa; y el que creyere en ella, no será confundido.

Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

Because it is contained in Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen and precious. He who believes in him will not be disappointed.”

Euch nun, die ihr glaubet, ist er kostlich; den Unglaubigen aber ist der Stein, den die Bauleute verworfen haben, und zum Eckstein worden ist,

Ella es pues honor á vosotros que creéis: mas para los desobedientes, la piedra que los edificadores reprobaron, ésta fué hecha la cabeza del ángulo;

Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

For you who believe therefore is the honor, but for those who are disobedient, “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone,”

ein Stein des Anstoftens und ein Fels des Argernisses, die sich stoften an dem Wort und glauben nicht daran, darauf sie gesetzt sind.

Y Piedra de tropiezo, y roca de escándalo á aquellos que tropiezan en la palabra, siendo desobedientes; para lo cual fueron también ordenados.

And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

and, “a stumbling stone and a rock of offense.” For they stumble at the word, being disobedient, to which also they were appointed.

Ihr aber seid das auserwahlte Geschlecht, das konigliche Priestertum, das heilige Volk, das Volk des Eigentums, daß ihr verkundigen sollt die Tugenden des, der euch berufen hat von der Finsternis zu seinem wunderbaren Licht,

Mas vosotros sois linaje escogido, real sacerdocio, gente santa, pueblo adquirido, para que anunciéis las virtudes de aquel que os ha llamado de las tinieblas á su luz admirable:

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

die ihrweiland nichtein Volk waret, nun aber Gottes Volk seid, und weiland nicht in Gnaden waret, nun aber in Gnaden seid.

Vosotros, que en el tiempo pasado no erais pueblo, mas ahora sois pueblo de Dios; que en el tiempo pasado no habíais alcanzado misericordia, mas ahora habéis alcanzado misericordia.

Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

In the past, you were not a people, but now are God’s people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Liebe Bruder, ich ermahne euch, als die Fremdlinge und Pilgrime, enthaltet euch von fleischlichen Lusten, welche wider die Seele streiten,

Amados, yo os ruego como á extranjeros y peregrinos, os abstengáis de los deseos carnales que batallan contra el alma,

Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

Beloved, I beg you as foreigners and pilgrims to abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,

und führet einen guten Wandel unter den FHeiden, auf daß die, so von euch afterreden als von Ubeltatern, eure guten Werke sehen und Gott preisen, wenn es nun an den Tag kommen wird.

Teniendo vuestra conversación honesta entre los Gentiles; para que, en lo que ellos murmuran de vosotros como de malhechores, glorifiquen á Dios en el día de la visitación, estimándoos por las buenas obras.

Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

having good behavior among the nations, so in that of which they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good works and glorify God in the day of visitation.

Seid untertan aller menschlichen Ordnung um des Herm willen, es sei dem Kdnige, als dem Obersten,

Sed pues sujetos á toda ordenación humana por respeto á Dios: ya sea al rey, como á superior;

Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

Therefore subject yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether to the king, as supreme,

Oder den FHauptleuten, als den Gesandten von ihm zur Rache uber die Ubeltater und zu Lobe den Frommen.

Ya á los gobernadores, como de él enviados para venganza de los malhechores, y para loor de los que hacen bien.

Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

or to governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evildoers and for praise to those who do well.

Denn das ist der Wille Gottes, daß ihr mit Wohltun verstopfet die Unwissenheit der torichten Menschen,

Porque esta es la voluntad de Dios; que haciendo bien, hagáis callar la ignorancia de los hombres vanos:

For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

For this is the will of God, that by well-doing you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.

als die Freien, und nicht als hattet ihr die Freiheit zum Deckel der Bosheit, sondern als die Knechte Gottes.

Como libres, y no como teniendo la libertad por cobertura de malicia, sino como siervos de Dios.

As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.

Live as free people, yet not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.

Tut Ehre jedermann! Habt die Bruder lieb! Furchtet Gott! Ehret den Konig!

Honrad á todos. Amad la fraternidad. Temed á Dios. Honrad al rey.

Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

Ihr Knechte, seid untertan mit aller Furchtden Herren, nicht allein den gutigen und gelinden, sondern auch den wunderlichen.

Siervos, sed sujetos con todo temor á vuestros amos; no solamente á los buenos y humanos, sino también á los rigurosos.

Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.

Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked.

Denn das ist Gnade, so jemand um des Gewissens willen zu Gott das Ubel vertragt und leidet das Unrecht.

Porque esto es agradable, si alguno á causa de la conciencia delante de Dios, sufre molestias padeciendo injustamente.

For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.

For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.

Denn was ist das fur ein Ruhm, so ihr um Missetat willen Streiche leidet? Aber wenn ihr um Wohltat willen leidet und erduldet, das ist Gnade bei Gott.

Porque ¿qué gloria es, si pecando vosotros sois abofeteados, y lo sufrís? mas si haciendo bien sois afligidos, y lo sufrís, esto ciertamente es agradable delante de Dios.

For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.

Denn dazu seid ihr berufen, sintemal auch Christus gelitten hat fur uns und uns ein Vorbild gelassen, daß ihr sollt nachfolgen seinen Fußtapfen;

Porque para esto sois llamados; pues que también Cristo padeció por nosotros, dejándonos ejemplo, para que vosotros sigáis sus pisadas:

For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps,

welcher keine Sünde getan hat, ist auch kein Betrug in seinem Munde erfunden;

El cual no hizo pecado; ni fué hallado engaño en su boca:

Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

who didn’t sin, “neither was deceit found in his mouth.”

welcher nicht wiederschalt, da er gescholten ward, nicht drauete, da er lift; er stellete es aber dem heim, der da recht richtet;

Quien cuando le maldecían, no retornaba maldición; cuando padecía, no amenazaba, sino remitía la causa al que juzga justamente:

Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

When he was cursed, he didn’t curse back. When he suffered, he didn’t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously.

welcher unsere Sunden selbst geopfert hat an seinem Leibe auf dem Holz, auf daßwir, der Sunde abgestorben, der Gerechtigkeit leben; durch welches Wunden ihr seid heil worden.

El cual mismo llevó nuestros pecados en su cuerpo sobre el madero, para que nosotros siendo muertos á los pecados, vivamos á la justicia: por la herida del cual habéis sido sanados.

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds.

Denn ihr waret wie die irrenden Schafe; aber ihr seid nun bekehret zu dem Hirten und Bischof eurer Seelen

Porque vosotros erais como ovejas descarriadas; mas ahora habéis vuelto al Pastor y Obispo de vuestras almas.

For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

For you were going astray like sheep; but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
