DEJANDO pues toda malicia, y todo engaño, y fingimientos, y envidias, y todas las detracciones,
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

come fanciulli pur ora nati, appetite il latte puro della parola, acciocchè per esso cresciate.
Desead, como niños recién nacidos, la leche espiritual, sin engaño, para que por ella crezcáis en salud:

Se pure avete gustato che il Signore è buono;

al quale accostandovi, come alla pietra viva, riprovata dagli uomini, ma dinanzi a Dio eletta, preziosa;

ancora voi, come pietre vive, siete edificati, per essere una casa spirituale, un sacerdozio santo, per offerire sacrificii spirituali, accettevoli a Dio per Gesù Cristo.
Vosotros también, como piedras vivas, sed edificados una casa espiritual, y un sacerdocio santo, para ofrecer sacrificios espirituales, agradables á Dios por Jesucristo.
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Per la qual cosa ancora è contenuto nella scrittura: Ecco, io pongo in Sion la pietra del capo del cantone, eletta, preziosa; e chi crederà in essa non sarà punto svergognato.
Por lo cual también contiene la Escritura: He aquí, pongo en Sión la principal piedra del ángulo, escogida, preciosa; y el que creyere en ella, no será confundido.

I quali s'intoppano nella parola, essendo disubbidienti; a che ancora sono stati posti.
Y Piedra de tropiezo, y roca de escándalo á aquellos que tropiezan en la palabra, siendo desobedientes; para lo cual fueron también ordenados.

I quali già non eravate popolo, ma ora siete popolo di Dio; a' quali già non era stata fatta misericordia, ma ora vi è stata fatta misericordia.

Teniendo vuestra conversación honesta entre los Gentiles; para que, en lo que ellos murmuran de vosotros como de malhechores, glorifiquen á Dios en el día de la visitación, estimándoos por las buenas obras.

Perciocchè tale è la volontà di Dio: che facendo bene, turiate la bocca all'ignoranza degli uomini stolti;

Perciocchè questo è cosa grata, se alcuno, per la coscienza di Dio, sofferisce molestie, patendo ingiustamente.
Porque esto es agradable, si alguno á causa de la conciencia delante de Dios, sufre molestias padeciendo injustamente.
For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.
Imperocchè, qual gloria è egli, se, peccando ed essendo puniti, voi il sofferite? ma, se facendo bene, e pur patendo, voi il sofferite, ciò è cosa grata dinnanzi a Iddio.
Porque ¿qué gloria es, si pecando vosotros sois abofeteados, y lo sufrís? mas si haciendo bien sois afligidos, y lo sufrís, esto ciertamente es agradable delante de Dios.
For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.
Poichè a questo siete stati chiamati; perciocchè Cristo ha patito anch'egli per noi, lasciandoci un esempio, acciocchè voi seguitiate le sue pedate.
Porque para esto sois llamados; pues que también Cristo padeció por nosotros, dejándonos ejemplo, para que vosotros sigáis sus pisadas:

Il qual non fece alcun peccato, nè fu trovata frode alcuna nella sua bocca.

Quien cuando le maldecían, no retornaba maldición; cuando padecía, no amenazaba, sino remitía la causa al que juzga justamente:
Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
When he was cursed, he didn’t curse back. When he suffered, he didn’t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously.
Il quale ha portato egli stesso i nostri peccati nel suo corpo, in sul legno; acciocchè, morti al peccato, viviamo a giustizia; per lo cui lividore voi siete stati sanati.
El cual mismo llevó nuestros pecados en su cuerpo sobre el madero, para que nosotros siendo muertos á los pecados, vivamos á la justicia: por la herida del cual habéis sido sanados.
