DEJANDO pues toda malicia, y todo engaño, y fingimientos, y envidias, y todas las detracciones,
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,
Désirez ardemment, comme des enfants nouvellement nés, de vous nourrir du lait spirituel et pur afin que vous croissiez par lui.
Desead, como niños recién nacidos, la leche espiritual, sin engaño, para que por ella crezcáis en salud:
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
as newborn babies, long for the pure spiritual milk, that with it you may grow,
Si toutefois vous avez goûté combien le Seigneur est bon.
Si empero habéis gustado que el Señor es benigno;

To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

Vous aussi comme des pierres vives êtes édifiés pour être une maison spirituelle, et une sainte Sacrificature, afin d’offrir des sacrifices spirituels, agréables à Dieu par Jésus-Christ.
Vosotros también, como piedras vivas, sed edificados una casa espiritual, y un sacerdocio santo, para ofrecer sacrificios espirituales, agradables á Dios por Jesucristo.
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

C’est pourquoi il est dit dans l’Ecriture : voici, je mets en Sion la maîtresse pierre du coin, élue et précieuse ; et celui qui croira en elle, ne sera point confus.
Por lo cual también contiene la Escritura: He aquí, pongo en Sión la principal piedra del ángulo, escogida, preciosa; y el que creyere en ella, no será confundido.
Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
Because it is contained in Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen and precious. He who believes in him will not be disappointed.”
Elle est donc précieuse pour vous qui croyez ; mais par rapport aux rebelles, il est dit : la pierre que ceux qui bâtissaient ont rejetée est devenue la maîtresse pierre du coin, une pierre d’achoppement, une pierre de scandale.
Ella es pues honor á vosotros que creéis: mas para los desobedientes, la piedra que los edificadores reprobaron, ésta fué hecha la cabeza del ángulo;
Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

Lesquels heurtent contre la parole, et sont rebelles ; à quoi aussi ils ont été destinés.
Y Piedra de tropiezo, y roca de escándalo á aquellos que tropiezan en la palabra, siendo desobedientes; para lo cual fueron también ordenados.
And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

Mais vous êtes la race élue, la Sacrificature royale, la nation sainte, le peuple acquis, afin que vous annonciez les vertus de celui qui vous a appelés des ténèbres à sa merveilleuse lumière ;

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
Vous qui autrefois n’étiez point son peuple, mais qui maintenant êtes le peuple de Dieu ; vous qui n’aviez point obtenu miséricorde, mais qui maintenant avez obtenu miséricorde.
Vosotros, que en el tiempo pasado no erais pueblo, mas ahora sois pueblo de Dios; que en el tiempo pasado no habíais alcanzado misericordia, mas ahora habéis alcanzado misericordia.
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Mes bien-aimés, je vous exhorte, que comme étrangers et voyageurs, vous vous absteniez des convoitises charnelles, qui font la guerre à l’âme ;
Amados, yo os ruego como á extranjeros y peregrinos, os abstengáis de los deseos carnales que batallan contra el alma,
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

Ayant une conduite honnête avec les Gentils, afin qu’au lieu qu’ils médisent de vous comme de malfaiteurs, ils glorifient Dieu au jour de la visitation, pour vos bonnes oeuvres qu’ils auront vues.
Teniendo vuestra conversación honesta entre los Gentiles; para que, en lo que ellos murmuran de vosotros como de malhechores, glorifiquen á Dios en el día de la visitación, estimándoos por las buenas obras.
Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Soyez donc soumis à tout établissement humain, pour l’amour de Dieu : soit au Roi, comme à celui qui est par-dessus les autres ;

Soit aux Gouverneurs, comme à ceux qui sont envoyés de sa part, pour punir les méchants et pour honorer les gens de bien.
Ya á los gobernadores, como de él enviados para venganza de los malhechores, y para loor de los que hacen bien.
Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

Car c’est là la volonté de Dieu, qu’en faisant bien, vous fermiez la bouche à l’ignorance des hommes fous.
Porque esta es la voluntad de Dios; que haciendo bien, hagáis callar la ignorancia de los hombres vanos:
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
For this is the will of God, that by well-doing you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.
Comme libres, et non pas comme ayant la liberté pour servir de voile à la méchanceté, mais comme serviteurs de Dieu.
Como libres, y no como teniendo la libertad por cobertura de malicia, sino como siervos de Dios.
As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
Live as free people, yet not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.
Portez honneur à tous. Aimez tous vos frères. Craignez Dieu. Honorez le Roi.
Honrad á todos. Amad la fraternidad. Temed á Dios. Honrad al rey.
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

Serviteurs, soyez soumis en toute crainte à vos maîtres, non seulement à ceux qui sont bons et équitables, mais aussi à ceux qui sont fâcheux :
Siervos, sed sujetos con todo temor á vuestros amos; no solamente á los buenos y humanos, sino también á los rigurosos.
Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.

Car c’est une chose agréable à Dieu si quelqu’un à cause de la conscience qu’il a envers Dieu, endure des afflictions, souffrant injustement.
Porque esto es agradable, si alguno á causa de la conciencia delante de Dios, sufre molestias padeciendo injustamente.
For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.
Autrement, quel honneur en aurez-vous, si recevant des soufflets pour avoir mal fait, vous le souffrez patiemment ? mais si en faisant bien vous êtes pourtant affligés, et que vous le souffriez patiemment, voilà où Dieu prend plaisir.
Porque ¿qué gloria es, si pecando vosotros sois abofeteados, y lo sufrís? mas si haciendo bien sois afligidos, y lo sufrís, esto ciertamente es agradable delante de Dios.
For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.
Car aussi vous êtes appelés à cela ; vu même que Christ a souffert pour nous, nous laissant un modèle, afin que vous suiviez ses traces ;
Porque para esto sois llamados; pues que también Cristo padeció por nosotros, dejándonos ejemplo, para que vosotros sigáis sus pisadas:
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

Lui qui n’a point commis de péché, et dans la bouche duquel il n’a point été trouvé de fraude.
El cual no hizo pecado; ni fué hallado engaño en su boca:
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
who didn’t sin, “neither was deceit found in his mouth.”
Qui lorsqu’on lui disait des outrages, n’en rendait point, et quand on lui faisait du mal, n’usait point de menaces ; mais il se remettait à celui qui juge justement.
Quien cuando le maldecían, no retornaba maldición; cuando padecía, no amenazaba, sino remitía la causa al que juzga justamente:
Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
When he was cursed, he didn’t curse back. When he suffered, he didn’t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously.
Lequel même a porté nos péchés en son corps sur le bois ; afin qu’étant morts au péché, nous vivions à la justice ; et par la meurtrissure duquel même vous avez été guéris.
El cual mismo llevó nuestros pecados en su cuerpo sobre el madero, para que nosotros siendo muertos á los pecados, vivamos á la justicia: por la herida del cual habéis sido sanados.
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds.
Car vous étiez comme des brebis errantes, mais maintenant vous êtes convertis au Pasteur et à l’Evêque de vos âmes.
Porque vosotros erais como ovejas descarriadas; mas ahora habéis vuelto al Pastor y Obispo de vuestras almas.
For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
For you were going astray like sheep; but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
