Por lo tanto, dejen de hacer toda clase de mal, todo engaño, hipocresía, envidias y chismes.
DEJANDO pues toda malicia, y todo engaño, y fingimientos, y envidias, y todas las detracciones,
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,
Como niños recién nacidos busquen con ansias la leche pura de la palabra. Así, por medio de ella crecerán en su salvación,
Desead, como niños recién nacidos, la leche espiritual, sin engaño, para que por ella crezcáis en salud:
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
as newborn babies, long for the pure spiritual milk, that with it you may grow,
ahora que han probado lo bueno que es el Señor.
Si empero habéis gustado que el Señor es benigno;
If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
Acérquense a Cristo, que es la Piedra viva que los seres humanos despreciaron pero que Dios escogió y es preciosa para él. De este modo,
Al cual allegándoos, piedra viva, reprobada cierto de los hombres, empero elegida de Dios, preciosa,
To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
Come to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.
también ustedes son piedras vivas con las que se está edificando una casa espiritual. Así llegan a ser un sacerdocio santo, para que le ofrezcan a Dios sacrificios espirituales por medio de Jesucristo. Estos sacrificios a él le agradan.
Vosotros también, como piedras vivas, sed edificados una casa espiritual, y un sacerdocio santo, para ofrecer sacrificios espirituales, agradables á Dios por Jesucristo.
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
You also as living stones are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Como dice la Escritura: «Yo pongo en Sion una piedra que es la principal, escogida y preciosa, y el que confíe en ella jamás será defraudado».
Por lo cual también contiene la Escritura: He aquí, pongo en Sión la principal piedra del ángulo, escogida, preciosa; y el que creyere en ella, no será confundido.
Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
Because it is contained in Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen and precious. He who believes in him will not be disappointed.”
Para ustedes los creyentes, esta piedra es preciosa. Pero para los que no creen: «La piedra que los constructores despreciaron ha llegado a ser la piedra más importante».
Ella es pues honor á vosotros que creéis: mas para los desobedientes, la piedra que los edificadores reprobaron, ésta fué hecha la cabeza del ángulo;
Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
For you who believe therefore is the honor, but for those who are disobedient, “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone,”
Y también: «Es una piedra con la cual tropezarán y una roca que hará que caigan». Tropiezan porque no obedecen la palabra, ya que para ello estaban destinados.
Y Piedra de tropiezo, y roca de escándalo á aquellos que tropiezan en la palabra, siendo desobedientes; para lo cual fueron también ordenados.
And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

Pero ustedes son una familia escogida, son sacerdotes reales y son una nación santa. Son un pueblo que Dios compró para que anuncien sus obras extraordinarias; él fue quien los llamó de las tinieblas a su luz maravillosa.
Mas vosotros sois linaje escogido, real sacerdocio, gente santa, pueblo adquirido, para que anunciéis las virtudes de aquel que os ha llamado de las tinieblas á su luz admirable:
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
Ustedes antes ni siquiera eran pueblo, pero ahora son el pueblo de Dios; antes no habían tenido compasión de ustedes, pero ahora ya les tienen compasión.
Vosotros, que en el tiempo pasado no erais pueblo, mas ahora sois pueblo de Dios; que en el tiempo pasado no habíais alcanzado misericordia, mas ahora habéis alcanzado misericordia.
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
In the past, you were not a people, but now are God’s people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Queridos hermanos, les pido, como si ustedes fueran extranjeros y estuvieran de paso por este mundo, que se mantengan lejos de los malos deseos que luchan contra la vida.
Amados, yo os ruego como á extranjeros y peregrinos, os abstengáis de los deseos carnales que batallan contra el alma,
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
Beloved, I beg you as foreigners and pilgrims to abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,
Vivan entre los que no son creyentes de una manera ejemplar, para que aunque hablen mal de ustedes acusándolos de ser malvados, ellos vean las cosas buenas que ustedes hacen y alaben a Dios en el día en que él les pida cuentas a todos.
Teniendo vuestra conversación honesta entre los Gentiles; para que, en lo que ellos murmuran de vosotros como de malhechores, glorifiquen á Dios en el día de la visitación, estimándoos por las buenas obras.
Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
having good behavior among the nations, so in that of which they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good works and glorify God in the day of visitation.
Por causa del Señor, obedezcan a toda autoridad humana, ya sea al rey porque es el que tiene más autoridad,
Sed pues sujetos á toda ordenación humana por respeto á Dios: ya sea al rey, como á superior;
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

o a los gobernadores que él ha puesto para castigar a los que hacen lo malo y para honrar a los que hacen lo bueno.
Ya á los gobernadores, como de él enviados para venganza de los malhechores, y para loor de los que hacen bien.
Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

Lo que Dios quiere es que ustedes hagan el bien, para que los ignorantes y tontos no tengan nada que decir en contra de ustedes.
Porque esta es la voluntad de Dios; que haciendo bien, hagáis callar la ignorancia de los hombres vanos:
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
For this is the will of God, that by well-doing you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.
Pórtense como personas libres que no usan su libertad como pretexto para hacer lo malo, sino que viven como siervos de Dios.
Como libres, y no como teniendo la libertad por cobertura de malicia, sino como siervos de Dios.
As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
Live as free people, yet not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.
Traten a todos con respeto. Amen a los hermanos, honren a Dios y respeten al rey.
Honrad á todos. Amad la fraternidad. Temed á Dios. Honrad al rey.
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

Criados, obedezcan y respeten a sus amos, no sólo a los que son buenos y comprensivos sino también a los que son difíciles de soportar,
Siervos, sed sujetos con todo temor á vuestros amos; no solamente á los buenos y humanos, sino también á los rigurosos.
Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked.
pues es digno de elogio que alguien, por ser responsable ante Dios, soporte penas y sufrimientos injustamente.
Porque esto es agradable, si alguno á causa de la conciencia delante de Dios, sufre molestias padeciendo injustamente.
For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.
Pero ustedes no tendrán ningún mérito si los maltratan por hacer lo malo. En cambio, si sufren por hacer lo bueno, eso es algo que a Dios le agrada.
Porque ¿qué gloria es, si pecando vosotros sois abofeteados, y lo sufrís? mas si haciendo bien sois afligidos, y lo sufrís, esto ciertamente es agradable delante de Dios.
For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.
Para esto los llamó, para que así como Cristo sufrió por ustedes y les dio el ejemplo, ustedes sigan sus pasos.
Porque para esto sois llamados; pues que también Cristo padeció por nosotros, dejándonos ejemplo, para que vosotros sigáis sus pisadas:
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps,
«Cristo no cometió ningún pecado ni engañó jamás a nadie».
El cual no hizo pecado; ni fué hallado engaño en su boca:
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
who didn’t sin, “neither was deceit found in his mouth.”
Cuando lo insultaban, él no respondía con insultos. Cuando lo hacían sufrir, no los amenazaba, sino que se entregaba a Dios y dejaba que él juzgara con justicia.
Quien cuando le maldecían, no retornaba maldición; cuando padecía, no amenazaba, sino remitía la causa al que juzga justamente:
Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
When he was cursed, he didn’t curse back. When he suffered, he didn’t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously.
Cristo mismo llevó en su cuerpo nuestros pecados a la cruz, para que muramos al pecado y llevemos una vida justa. Cristo fue herido para que ustedes fueran sanados.
El cual mismo llevó nuestros pecados en su cuerpo sobre el madero, para que nosotros siendo muertos á los pecados, vivamos á la justicia: por la herida del cual habéis sido sanados.
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds.
Antes ustedes eran como ovejas descarriadas, pero ahora han regresado al Pastor que cuida de sus vidas.
Porque vosotros erais como ovejas descarriadas; mas ahora habéis vuelto al Pastor y Obispo de vuestras almas.
For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
For you were going astray like sheep; but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
