DEJANDO pues toda malicia, y todo engaño, y fingimientos, y envidias, y todas las detracciones,
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,
Deseen como bebés recién nacidos la leche espiritual no adulterada para que por medio de ella crezcan en la salvación,
Desead, como niños recién nacidos, la leche espiritual, sin engaño, para que por ella crezcáis en salud:
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
as newborn babies, long for the pure spiritual milk, that with it you may grow,
pues ustedes experimentaron la benignidad del Señor.
Si empero habéis gustado que el Señor es benigno;
If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Acérquense a Cristo, Piedra Viva, ciertamente desechada por los hombres, pero para Dios escogida, preciosa.
Al cual allegándoos, piedra viva, reprobada cierto de los hombres, empero elegida de Dios, preciosa,
To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

Ustedes también, como piedras vivas, son edificados como casa espiritual y sacerdocio santo para ofrecer sacrificios espirituales aceptables a Dios por medio de Jesucristo.

Por lo cual dice la Escritura: Ciertamente, pongo en Sion la Piedra del ángulo, escogida, preciosa. Y el que cree en Él, Que de ningún modo sea avergonzado.

Y: Piedra de tropiezo y roca que hace caer. Éstos, al ser desobedientes, tropiezan en la Palabra. Tal es su destino.
Y Piedra de tropiezo, y roca de escándalo á aquellos que tropiezan en la palabra, siendo desobedientes; para lo cual fueron también ordenados.

los que en un tiempo no eran pueblo, pero ahora son pueblo de Dios, los no compadecidos por misericordia, pero ahora compadecidos por misericordia.
Vosotros, que en el tiempo pasado no erais pueblo, mas ahora sois pueblo de Dios; que en el tiempo pasado no habíais alcanzado misericordia, mas ahora habéis alcanzado misericordia.
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Amados, les ruego como a extranjeros y peregrinos, que se abstengan de los ardientes deseos humanos que se enfrentan en batalla contra el alma.

Sea buena su manera de vivir entre los gentiles, para que cuando los malhechores murmuren de ustedes, glorifiquen a Dios cuando vean sus obras buenas el día de la supervisión.
Teniendo vuestra conversación honesta entre los Gentiles; para que, en lo que ellos murmuran de vosotros como de malhechores, glorifiquen á Dios en el día de la visitación, estimándoos por las buenas obras.
Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

Vivan como libres, como esclavos de Dios, pero no como si tuvieran la libertad como pretexto para la maldad.

As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.

Porque esto merece aprobación: cuando alguno soporta aflicciones y padece injustamente por causa de la conciencia delante de Dios.

For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.

Pues ¿qué mérito tienen si son abofeteados por pecar y soportan? Pero si cuando hacen el bien soportan y padecen, esto ciertamente es agradable ante Dios,
Porque ¿qué gloria es, si pecando vosotros sois abofeteados, y lo sufrís? mas si haciendo bien sois afligidos, y lo sufrís, esto ciertamente es agradable delante de Dios.
For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.
porque para esto fueron llamados. También Cristo padeció por nosotros y nos dejó ejemplo para que ustedes sigan sus pisadas.

Él no pecó, ni fue hallado engaño en su boca.
El cual no hizo pecado; ni fué hallado engaño en su boca:
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
who didn’t sin, “neither was deceit found in his mouth.”
Cuando era insultado, no replicaba. Cuando padecía, no amenazaba, sino se encomendaba al que juzga justamente.
Quien cuando le maldecían, no retornaba maldición; cuando padecía, no amenazaba, sino remitía la causa al que juzga justamente:
Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

Él mismo llevó nuestros pecados en su cuerpo sobre el madero para que nosotros muramos a los pecados y vivamos para la justicia. Por su herida fueron sanados.

Ustedes eran como ovejas descarriadas, pero ahora volvieron al Pastor y Supervisor de sus almas.

For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
