PARIMENTE sieno le mogli soggette a' lor mariti; acciocchè, se pur ve ne sono alcuni che non ubbidiscono alla parola, sieno, per la condotta delle mogli, guadagnati senza parola;

ASIMISMO vosotras, mujeres, sed sujetas á vuestros maridos; para que también los que no creen á la palabra, sean ganados sin palabra por la conversación de sus mujeres,

Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

In the same way, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands, so that, even if any don’t obey the Word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word,

avendo considerata la vostra condotta casta unita a timore.

Considerando vuestra casta conversación, que es en temor.

While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

seeing your pure behavior in fear.

Delle quali l'ornamento sia, non l'esteriore dell'intrecciatura de' capelli, o di fregi d'oro, o sfoggio di vestiti;

El adorno de las cuales no sea exterior con encrespamiento del cabello, y atavío de oro, ni en compostura de ropas;

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

Let your beauty come not from the outward adorning of braiding your hair, and of wearing gold ornaments or of putting on fine clothing,

ma l'uomo occulto del cuore, nell'incorrotta purità dello spirito benigno e pacifico; il quale è di gran prezzo nel cospetto di Dio.

Sino el hombre del corazón que está encubierto, en incorruptible ornato de espíritu agradable y pacífico, lo cual es de grande estima delante de Dios.

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

but from the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God’s sight.

Perciocchè in questa maniera ancora già si adornavano le sante donne, che speravano in Dio, essendo soggette a' lor mariti.

Porque así también se ataviaban en el tiempo antiguo aquellas santas mujeres que esperaban en Dios, siendo sujetas á sus maridos:

For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

For this is how in the past the holy women who hoped in God also adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands.

Siccome Sara ubbidì ad Abrahamo, chiamandolo signore; della quale voi siete figliuole, se fate ciò che è bene, non temendo alcuno spavento.

Como Sara obedecía á Abraham, llamándole señor; de la cual vosotras sois hechas hijas, haciendo bien, y no sois espantadas de ningún pavor.

Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

So Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose children you now are if you do well and are not put in fear by any terror.

Voi mariti, fate il simigliante, abitando con loro discretamente; portando onore al vaso femminile, come al più debole; come essendo voi ancora coeredi della grazia della vita; acciocchè le vostre orazioni non sieno interrotte.

Vosotros maridos, semejantemente, habitad con ellas según ciencia, dando honor á la mujer como á vaso más frágil, y como á herederas juntamente de la gracia de la vida; para que vuestras oraciones no sean impedidas.

Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

You husbands, in the same way, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman as to the weaker vessel, as also being joint heirs of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

E IN somma, siate tutti concordi, compassionevoli, fratellevoli, pietosi, benevoglienti;

Y finalmente, sed todos de un mismo corazón, compasivos, amándoos fraternalmente, misericordiosos, amigables;

Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

Finally, all of you be like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, courteous,

non rendendo mal per male, od oltraggio per oltraggio; anzi, al contrario, benedicendo; sapendo che a questo siete stati chiamati, acciocchè erediate la benedizione.

No volviendo mal por mal, ni maldición por maldición, sino antes por el contrario, bendiciendo; sabiendo que vosotros sois llamados para que poseáis bendición en herencia.

Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

not rendering evil for evil or insult for insult; but instead blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.

Perciocchè, chi vuole amar la vita, e veder buoni giorni, rattenga la sua bocca dal male; e le sue labbra, che non proferiscano frode;

Porque el que quiere amar la vida, y ver días buenos, refrene su lengua de mal, y sus labios no hablen engaño;

For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

For, “He who would love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.

ritraggasi dal male, e faccia il bene; cerchi la pace, e la procacci.

Apártase del mal, y haga bien; busque la paz, y sígala.

Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

Let him turn away from evil and do good. Let him seek peace and pursue it.

Perciocchè gli occhi del Signore son sopra i giusti, e le sue orecchie sono intente alla loro orazione; ma il volto del Signore è contro a quelli che fanno male.

Porque los ojos del Señor están sobre los justos, y sus oídos atentos á sus oraciones: pero el rostro del Señor está sobre aquellos que hacen mal.

For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears open to their prayer; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

E chi sarà colui che vi faccia male, se voi seguite il bene?

¿Y quién es aquel que os podrá dañar, si vosotros seguís el bien?

And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

Now who will harm you if you become imitators of that which is good?

Ma, se pure ancora patite per giustizia, beati voi; or non temiate del timor loro, e non vi conturbate.

Mas también si alguna cosa padecéis por hacer bien, sois bienaventurados. Por tanto, no temáis por el temor de ellos, ni seáis turbados;

But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;

But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “Don’t fear what they fear, neither be troubled.”

Anzi santificate il Signore Iddio ne' cuori vostri; e siate sempre pronti a rispondere a vostra difesa a chiunque vi domanda ragione della speranza ch' è in voi, con mansuetudine, e timore. Avendo buona coscienza;

Sino santificad al Señor Dios en vuestros corazones, y estad siempre aparejados para responder con mansedumbre y reverencia á cada uno que os demande razón de la esperanza que hay en vosotros:

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear,

acciocchè, là dove sparlano di voi come di malfattori, sieno svergognati coloro che calunniano la vostra buona condotta in Cristo.

Teniendo buena conciencia, para que en lo que murmuran de vosotros como de malhechores, sean confundidos los que blasfeman vuestra buena conversación en Cristo.

Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

having a good conscience. Thus, while you are spoken against as evildoers, they may be disappointed who curse your good way of life in Christ.

Perciocchè, meglio è che, se pur tale è la volontà di Dio, patiate facendo bene, anzi che facendo male.

Porque mejor es que padezcáis haciendo bien, si la voluntad de Dios así lo quiere, que haciendo mal.

For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

For it is better, if it is God’s will, that you suffer for doing what is right than for doing evil.

Poichè Cristo ancora ha sofferto una volta per i peccati, egli giusto per gl'ingiusti, acciocchè ci adducesse a Dio; essendo mortificato in carne, ma vivificato per lo Spirito.

Porque también Cristo padeció una vez por los pecados, el justo por los injustos, para llevarnos á Dios, siendo á la verdad muerto en la carne, pero vivificado en espíritu;

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit,

Nel quale ancora andò già, e predicò agli spiriti che sono in carcere.

En el cual también fué y predicó á los espíritus encarcelados;

By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

in whom he also went and preached to the spirits in prison,

I quali già furon ribelli, quando la pazienza di Dio aspettava ai giorni di Noè, mentre si apparecchiava l'arca; nella quale poche anime, cioè otto, furon salvate per mezzo l'acqua.

Los cuales en otro tiempo fueron desobedientes, cuando una vez esperaba la paciencia de Dios en los días de Noé, cuando se aparejaba el arca; en la cual pocas, es á saber, ocho personas fueron salvas por agua.

Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

who before were disobedient when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ship was being built. In it, few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.

Alla qual figura corrisponde il battesimo, il quale (non il nettamento delle brutture della carne, ma la domanda di buona coscienza verso Iddio) ora salva ancora noi, per la risurrezione di Gesù Cristo.

A la figura de la cual el bautismo que ahora corresponde nos salva (no quitando las inmundicias de la carne, sino como demanda de una buena conciencia delante de Dios,) por la resurrección de Jesucristo:

The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you—not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Il quale, essendo andato in cielo, è alla destra di Dio, essendogli sottoposti angeli, e podestà, e potenze.

El cual está á la diestra de Dios, habiendo subido al cielo; estando á él sujetos los ángeles, y las potestades, y virtudes.

Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.
