Gleicherweise ihr Weiber, seid euren eigenen Männern unterwürfig, auf daß, wenn auch etliche dem Worte nicht gehorchen, sie durch den Wandel der Weiber ohne Wort mögen gewonnen werden,

ASIMISMO vosotras, mujeres, sed sujetas á vuestros maridos; para que también los que no creen á la palabra, sean ganados sin palabra por la conversación de sus mujeres,

Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

In the same way, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands, so that, even if any don’t obey the Word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word,

indem sie euren in Furcht keuschen Wandel angeschaut haben;

Considerando vuestra casta conversación, que es en temor.

While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

seeing your pure behavior in fear.

deren Schmuck nicht der auswendige sei durch Flechten der Haare und Umhängen von Gold oder Anziehen von Kleidern,

El adorno de las cuales no sea exterior con encrespamiento del cabello, y atavío de oro, ni en compostura de ropas;

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

Let your beauty come not from the outward adorning of braiding your hair, and of wearing gold ornaments or of putting on fine clothing,

sondern der verborgene Mensch des Herzens in dem unverweslichen Schmuck des sanften und stillen Geistes, welcher vor Gott sehr köstlich ist.

Sino el hombre del corazón que está encubierto, en incorruptible ornato de espíritu agradable y pacífico, lo cual es de grande estima delante de Dios.

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

but from the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God’s sight.

Denn also schmückten sich auch einst die heiligen Weiber, die ihre Hoffnung auf Gott setzten, indem sie ihren eigenen Männern unterwürfig waren:

Porque así también se ataviaban en el tiempo antiguo aquellas santas mujeres que esperaban en Dios, siendo sujetas á sus maridos:

For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

For this is how in the past the holy women who hoped in God also adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands.

wie Sara dem Abraham gehorchte und ihn Herr nannte, deren Kinder ihr geworden seid, wenn ihr Gutes tut und keinerlei Schrecken fürchtet.

Como Sara obedecía á Abraham, llamándole señor; de la cual vosotras sois hechas hijas, haciendo bien, y no sois espantadas de ningún pavor.

Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

So Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose children you now are if you do well and are not put in fear by any terror.

Ihr Männer gleicherweise, wohnet bei ihnen nach Erkenntnis, als bei einem schwächeren Gefäße, dem weiblichen, ihnen Ehre gebend, als die auch Miterben der Gnade des Lebens sind, auf daß eure Gebete nicht verhindert werden.

Vosotros maridos, semejantemente, habitad con ellas según ciencia, dando honor á la mujer como á vaso más frágil, y como á herederas juntamente de la gracia de la vida; para que vuestras oraciones no sean impedidas.

Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

You husbands, in the same way, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman as to the weaker vessel, as also being joint heirs of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

Endlich aber seid alle gleichgesinnt, mitleidig, voll brüderlicher Liebe, barmherzig, demütig,

Y finalmente, sed todos de un mismo corazón, compasivos, amándoos fraternalmente, misericordiosos, amigables;

Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

Finally, all of you be like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, courteous,

und vergeltet nicht Böses mit Bösem, oder Scheltwort mit Scheltwort, sondern im Gegenteil segnet, weil ihr dazu berufen worden seid, daß ihr Segen ererbet.

No volviendo mal por mal, ni maldición por maldición, sino antes por el contrario, bendiciendo; sabiendo que vosotros sois llamados para que poseáis bendición en herencia.

Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

not rendering evil for evil or insult for insult; but instead blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.

"Denn wer das Leben lieben und gute Tage sehen will, der enthalte seine Zunge vom Bösen, und seine Lippen, daß sie nicht Trug reden;

Porque el que quiere amar la vida, y ver días buenos, refrene su lengua de mal, y sus labios no hablen engaño;

For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

For, “He who would love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.

er wende sich ab vom Bösen und tue Gutes; er suche Frieden und jage ihm nach;

Apártase del mal, y haga bien; busque la paz, y sígala.

Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

Let him turn away from evil and do good. Let him seek peace and pursue it.

denn die Augen des Herrn sind gerichtet auf die Gerechten, und seine Ohren auf ihr Flehen; das Angesicht des Herrn aber ist wider die, welche Böses tun."

Porque los ojos del Señor están sobre los justos, y sus oídos atentos á sus oraciones: pero el rostro del Señor está sobre aquellos que hacen mal.

For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears open to their prayer; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

Und wer ist, der euch Böses tun wird, wenn ihr Nachahmer des Guten geworden seid?

¿Y quién es aquel que os podrá dañar, si vosotros seguís el bien?

And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

Now who will harm you if you become imitators of that which is good?

Aber wenn ihr auch leiden solltet um der Gerechtigkeit willen, glückselig seid ihr! Fürchtet aber nicht ihre Furcht, noch seid bestürzt,

Mas también si alguna cosa padecéis por hacer bien, sois bienaventurados. Por tanto, no temáis por el temor de ellos, ni seáis turbados;

But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;

But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “Don’t fear what they fear, neither be troubled.”

sondern heiliget Christus, den Herrn, in euren Herzen. Seid aber jederzeit bereit zur Verantwortung gegen jeden, der Rechenschaft von euch fordert über die Hoffnung, die in euch ist, aber mit Sanftmut und Furcht;

Sino santificad al Señor Dios en vuestros corazones, y estad siempre aparejados para responder con mansedumbre y reverencia á cada uno que os demande razón de la esperanza que hay en vosotros:

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

indem ihr ein gutes Gewissen habt, auf daß, worin sie sie wider euch als Übeltäter reden, die zu Schanden werden, welche euren guten Wandel in Christo verleumden.

Teniendo buena conciencia, para que en lo que murmuran de vosotros como de malhechores, sean confundidos los que blasfeman vuestra buena conversación en Cristo.

Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

having a good conscience. Thus, while you are spoken against as evildoers, they may be disappointed who curse your good way of life in Christ.

Denn es ist besser, wenn der Wille Gottes es will, für Gutestun zu leiden, als für Bösestun.

Porque mejor es que padezcáis haciendo bien, si la voluntad de Dios así lo quiere, que haciendo mal.

For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

For it is better, if it is God’s will, that you suffer for doing what is right than for doing evil.

Denn es hat ja Christus einmal für Sünden gelitten, der Gerechte für die Ungerechten, auf daß er uns zu Gott führe, getötet nach dem Fleische, aber lebendig gemacht nach dem Geiste,

Porque también Cristo padeció una vez por los pecados, el justo por los injustos, para llevarnos á Dios, siendo á la verdad muerto en la carne, pero vivificado en espíritu;

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit,

in welchem er auch hinging und predigte den Geistern, die im Gefängnis sind,

En el cual también fué y predicó á los espíritus encarcelados;

By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

in whom he also went and preached to the spirits in prison,

welche einst ungehorsam waren, als die Langmut Gottes harrte in den Tagen Noahs, während die Arche zugerichtet wurde, in welche wenige, daß ist acht Seelen, durch Wasser gerettet wurden,

Los cuales en otro tiempo fueron desobedientes, cuando una vez esperaba la paciencia de Dios en los días de Noé, cuando se aparejaba el arca; en la cual pocas, es á saber, ocho personas fueron salvas por agua.

Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

who before were disobedient when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ship was being built. In it, few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.

welches Gegenbild auch euch jetzt errettet, das ist die Taufe (nicht ein Ablegen der Unreinigkeit des Fleisches, sondern das Begehren eines guten Gewissens vor Gott), durch die Auferstehung Jesu Christi,

A la figura de la cual el bautismo que ahora corresponde nos salva (no quitando las inmundicias de la carne, sino como demanda de una buena conciencia delante de Dios,) por la resurrección de Jesucristo:

The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you—not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

welcher, in den Himmel gegangen, zur Rechten Gottes ist, indem Engel und Gewalten und Mächte ihm unterworfen sind.

El cual está á la diestra de Dios, habiendo subido al cielo; estando á él sujetos los ángeles, y las potestades, y virtudes.

Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.
