ASIMISMO vosotras, mujeres, sed sujetas á vuestros maridos; para que también los que no creen á la palabra, sean ganados sin palabra por la conversación de sus mujeres,
Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
In the same way, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands, so that, even if any don’t obey the Word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word,
cuando consideren su conducta casta y respetuosa.
Considerando vuestra casta conversación, que es en temor.
While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
seeing your pure behavior in fear.
Su adorno no sea el externo, de peinados ostentosos, de joyas de oro o de vestidos lujosos,
El adorno de las cuales no sea exterior con encrespamiento del cabello, y atavío de oro, ni en compostura de ropas;
Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
Let your beauty come not from the outward adorning of braiding your hair, and of wearing gold ornaments or of putting on fine clothing,
sino el adorno imperecedero de un espíritu agradable y apacible, el cual es muy valioso y es de grande estima delante de Dios.
Sino el hombre del corazón que está encubierto, en incorruptible ornato de espíritu agradable y pacífico, lo cual es de grande estima delante de Dios.
But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

Porque así también se adornaban en otro tiempo las santas mujeres que esperaban en Dios, y estaban sometidas a sus esposos,

Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

Los esposos del mismo modo, convivan con comprensión, y muestren honor a la esposa como a vaso más frágil, y como a coherederas de la gracia de la vida, para que sus conversaciones con Dios no sean impedidas.
Vosotros maridos, semejantemente, habitad con ellas según ciencia, dando honor á la mujer como á vaso más frágil, y como á herederas juntamente de la gracia de la vida; para que vuestras oraciones no sean impedidas.
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

No devuelvan mal por mal, ni maldición por maldición. Al contrario, bendigan, pues fueron llamados para heredar bendición.

Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

Porque los ojos del Señor están sobre los justos Y sus oídos atentos a su súplica. Pero el rostro del Señor está contra los que hacen el mal.

¿Quién los perjudicará cuando sigan el bien?
¿Y quién es aquel que os podrá dañar, si vosotros seguís el bien?
And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
Now who will harm you if you become imitators of that which is good?
Pero también si algunos sufren por causa de la justicia son inmensamente felices. Por tanto no se intimiden ni se perturben por temor a ellos.
Mas también si alguna cosa padecéis por hacer bien, sois bienaventurados. Por tanto, no temáis por el temor de ellos, ni seáis turbados;
But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “Don’t fear what they fear, neither be troubled.”
Santifiquen al Señor Dios en sus corazones. Estén siempre preparados para defender con mansedumbre y reverencia ante todo el que les pida razón de la esperanza que hay en ustedes.
Sino santificad al Señor Dios en vuestros corazones, y estad siempre aparejados para responder con mansedumbre y reverencia á cada uno que os demande razón de la esperanza que hay en vosotros:
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

Pero tengan buena conciencia con gentileza y respeto, para que los que calumnian su buena conducta en Cristo se avergüencen.
Teniendo buena conciencia, para que en lo que murmuran de vosotros como de malhechores, sean confundidos los que blasfeman vuestra buena conversación en Cristo.
Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
having a good conscience. Thus, while you are spoken against as evildoers, they may be disappointed who curse your good way of life in Christ.
Porque si es la voluntad de Dios, mejor es que padezcan por hacer el bien que por hacer el mal.
Porque mejor es que padezcáis haciendo bien, si la voluntad de Dios así lo quiere, que haciendo mal.
For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

El bautismo en agua, como figura de esa realidad, nos salva, no porque quita las impurezas del cuerpo, sino como la aspiración de una buena conciencia hacia Dios, por la resurrección de Jesucristo,

Quien ascendió al cielo y se sentó a la derecha de Dios. Ángeles, autoridades y potestades están sujetos a Él.
