Uma vez que Cristo sofreu e suportou a dor no seu corpo, vocês devem ter uma atitude semelhante; devem estar prontos a sofrer também. Lembrem-se: o sofrimento físico enfraquece a força do pecado,
PUES que Cristo ha padecido por nosotros en la carne, vosotros también estad armados del mismo pensamiento: que el que ha padecido en la carne, cesó de pecado;
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

e vocês não estarão gastando o resto da sua vida andando atrás de desejos humanos, mas estarão desejosos de fazer a vontade de Deus.

No passado vocês já gastaram bastante tempo fazendo as coisas pecaminosas que os ímpios gostam de fazer. Naquele tempo vocês viviam na imoralidade, nos desejos carnais, na embriaguez, nas orgias, nas bebedeiras e na adoração dos ídolos.
Porque nos debe bastar que el tiempo pasado de nuestra vida hayamos hecho la voluntad de los Gentiles, cuando conversábamos en lascivias, en concupiscencias, en embriagueces, en glotonerías, en banquetes, y en abominables idolatrías.
For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
For we have spent enough of our past time doing the desire of the Gentiles, and having walked in lewdness, lusts, drunken binges, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries.
Naturalmente seus velhos amigos estranham quando vocês não se juntam mais a eles nas coisas pecaminosas que fazem, e tratarão vocês com desdém e escárnio.

Entretanto, lembrem-se apenas de que eles terão de enfrentar aquele que vai julgar a todos, vivos e mortos; e eles terão de prestar contas da maneira como têm vivido.
Los cuales darán cuenta al que está aparejado para juzgar los vivos y los muertos.
Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

É por isso que o evangelho foi pregado também a mortos, para que, embora seus corpos tenham sido castigados na carne como homens, eles ainda pudessem viver em seus espíritos, como Deus vive.

Cada uno según el don que ha recibido, adminístrelo á los otros, como buenos dispensadores de las diferentes gracias de Dios.
As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms.
Se você é chamado para falar, então fale como se o próprio Deus estivesse falando através de você. Se você é chamado para ajudar os outros, faça-o com todas as forças e a energia que Deus lhe concede, a fim de que ele seja glorificado por meio de Jesus Cristo — a ele seja a glória e o poder para todo o sempre. Amém.

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

Pelo contrário, alegrem-se verdadeiramente, pois essas provações farão com que vocês participem do sofrimento de Cristo, e depois terão a maravilhosa alegria de participar da sua glória quando ela for manifestada.

Não quero ouvir falar de vocês sofrerem por cometer assassinato, ou roubar, ou causar desordem, ou por se intrometer nos negócios dos outros.

Porque a hora do julgamento chegou, e deve começar primeiro entre os próprios filhos de Deus. E se até mesmo nós, que somos salvos, devemos ser julgados, qual será o destino que aguarda aqueles que nunca obedeceram ao evangelho de Deus?
Porque es tiempo de que el juicio comience de la casa de Dios: y si primero comienza por nosotros, ¿qué será el fin de aquellos que no obedecen al evangelio de Dios?
For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God. If it begins first with us, what will happen to those who don’t obey the Good News of God?
Como dizem as Escrituras: “Se os justos se salvam com dificuldade, o que será do ímpio e pecador?”
Y si el justo con dificultad se salva, ¿á dónde aparecerá el infiel y el pecador?
And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will happen to the ungodly and the sinner?”
Portanto, se vocês estiverem sofrendo segundo a vontade divina, continuem a fazer o que é direito e entreguem-se aos cuidados do fiel Criador, pois ele sempre cumpre as suas promessas.
Y por eso los que son afligidos según la voluntad de Dios, encomiéndenle sus almas, como á fiel Criador, haciendo bien.
Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
Therefore let them also who suffer according to the will of God in doing good entrust their souls to him, as to a faithful Creator.
