1Yo, que soy anciano como ellos de la iglesia, y un testigo de los sufrimientos de Cristo, teniendo mi parte en la gloria venidera, ruego a los ancianos de la congregación que están entre ustedes.
2Vigilen al rebaño de Dios que está bajo su cuidado, usando su autoridad, no como forzado a hacerlo, pero con mucho gusto; como Dios quiere y no por obligación ni por ganancias inmundas, realicen su trabajo de buena gana;
3No como señores y dueños de los que están a su cuidado, sino haciéndose ejemplos del rebaño.
4Y a la venida del Pastor principal de las ovejas, se te dará la corona de gloria, una corona que jamás se marchitará.
5Y de la misma manera, jóvenes sométanse a los más viejos. Y todos ustedes, sumisos unos con otros y sean revestidos de humildad: porque Dios es enemigo del orgulloso, pero da gracia a los humildes.
6Por esto, humíllense bajo la mano fuerte de Dios, para que cuando llegue el momento, sean enaltecidos;
7Poniendo todas sus preocupaciones mundanas en él, porque él cuida de ustedes.
8Sean prudentes y manténganse despiertos; el Maligno, que está contra ustedes, anda alrededor como un león con la boca abierta en busca de comida;
9Resístanlo séan fuerte en su fe, sabiendo que tus hermanos que están en el mundo sufren los mismos problemas.
10Y después de haber sufrido dolor por un tiempo, el Dios de toda gracia que nos ha dado parte en su gloria eterna por medio de Cristo Jesús, él mismo les dará fortaleza y apoyo, y los perfeccionará en todo lo bueno;
11A sea el poder y la gloria para siempre. Que así sea.
12Les he enviado esta breve carta de Silvano, un verdadero hermano, en mi opinión; exhortándoles dando testimonio de que esta es la verdadera gracia de Dios; sigan firmes.
13La iglesia que está en Babilonia, que tiene una parte contigo en el propósito de Dios, te envía saludos; y mi hijo Marcos también.
14Saludense unos a otros con un beso de amor. La paz sea para todos ustedes que están en Cristo Jesús.

1RUEGO á los ancianos que están entre vosotros, yo anciano también con ellos, y testigo de las aflicciones de Cristo, que soy también participante de la gloria que ha de ser revelada:
2Apacentad la grey de Dios que está entre vosotros, teniendo cuidado de ella, no por fuerza, sino voluntariamente; no por ganancia deshonesta, sino de un ánimo pronto;
3Y no como teniendo señorío sobre las heredades del Señor, sino siendo dechados de la grey.
4Y cuando apareciere el Príncipe de los pastores, vosotros recibiréis la corona incorruptible de gloria.
5Igualmente, mancebos, sed sujetos á los ancianos; y todos sumisos unos á otros, revestíos de humildad; porque Dios resiste á los soberbios, y da gracia á los humildes.
6Humillaos pues bajo la poderosa mano de Dios, para que él os ensalce cuando fuere tiempo;
7Echando toda vuestra solicitud en él, porque él tiene cuidado de vosotros.
8Sed templados, y velad; porque vuestro adversario el diablo, cual león rugiente, anda alrededor buscando á quien devore:
9Al cual resistid firmes en la fe, sabiendo que las mismas aflicciones han de ser cumplidas en la compañía de vuestros hermanos que están en el mundo.
10Mas el Dios de toda gracia, que nos ha llamado á su gloria eterna por Jesucristo, después que hubiereis un poco de tiempo padecido, él mismo os perfeccione, confirme, corrobore y establezca.
11A él sea gloria é imperio para siempre. Amén.
12Por Silvano, el hermano fiel, según yo pienso, os he escrito brevemente, amonestándoos, y testificando que ésta es la verdadera gracia de Dios, en la cual estáis.
13La iglesia que está en Babilonia, juntamente elegida con vosotros, os saluda, y Marcos mi hijo.
14Saludaos unos á otros con ósculo de caridad. Paz sea con todos vosotros los que estáis en Jesucristo. Amén.

1The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
2Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
4And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
5Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
11To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
12By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.
13The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.
14Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

1Therefore I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and who will also share in the glory that will be revealed:
2shepherd the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion, but voluntarily; not for dishonest gain, but willingly;
3not as lording it over those entrusted to you, but making yourselves examples to the flock.
4When the chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the crown of glory that doesn’t fade away.
5Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility and subject yourselves to one another; for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time,
7casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.
8Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
9Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings.
