24Y todo el pueblo de Israel estaba en gran apuro, unos veinte mil hombres, y la lucha fue general en toda la región montañosa de Efraín. Pero Saúl cometió un gran error ese día al poner bajo juramento a la gente, diciendo: “Que se maldiga al hombre que come antes de que llegue la noche y que haya castigado a los que están en mi contra”. Así que la gente no había comido.

24Pero los hombres de Israel fueron puestos en apuro aquel día; porque Saúl había conjurado al pueblo, diciendo: Cualquiera que comiere pan hasta la tarde, hasta que haya tomado venganza de mis enemigos, sea maldito. Y todo el pueblo no había gustado pan.

24And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.
