Ao que Saul disse: "Assim direis a Davi: 'O rei não está interessado em nenhum dote, tão somente em cem prepúcios dos filisteus como forma de vingança contra os inimigos dele". Saul pensou que desse modo pudesse fazer Davi cair pelas mãos dos filisteus.

And Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, The king desireth not any dowry, but an hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king’s enemies. But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.
Saul said, “Tell David, ‘The king desires no dowry except one hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king’s enemies.’” Now Saul thought he would make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.

Antes mesmo de esgotar o prazo, Davi saiu com seus homens e matou duzentos filisteus. Ele trouxe os prepúcios, que foram todos entregues ao rei, para que Davi pudesse se tornar seu genro. Assim, Saul o presenteou com Mical, sua filha, que se tornou sua esposa.
