1 Samuel 23

Un día avisaron a David que los filisteos estaban atacando a Queilá y saqueando los campos:

Y DIERON aviso á David, diciendo: He aquí que los Filisteos combaten á Keila, y roban las eras.

Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors.

David was told, “Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and are robbing the threshing floors.”

David consultó al Señor: ―¿Iré y los atacaré? ―Sí, ve y salva Queilá —le dijo el Señor.

Y David consultó á Jehová, diciendo: ¿Iré á herir á estos Filisteos? Y Jehová respondió á David: Ve, hiere á los Filisteos, y libra á Keila.

Therefore David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.

Therefore David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I go and strike these Philistines?” The LORD said to David, “Go strike the Philistines, and save Keilah.”

Mas los hombres de David le dijeron: ―Nosotros tenemos miedo aun aquí en Judá. Ciertamente no queremos ir a Queilá a pelear contra las filas filisteas.

Mas los que estaban con David le dijeron: He aquí que nosotros aquí en Judá estamos con miedo; ¿cuánto más si fuéremos á Keila contra el ejército de los Filisteos?

And David’s men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?

David’s men said to him, “Behold, we are afraid here in Judah. How much more then if we go to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?”

David le preguntó nuevamente al Señor, y el Señor nuevamente le respondió: ―Vete a Queilá, porque yo te ayudaré a conquistar a los filisteos.

Entonces David volvió á consultar á Jehová. Y Jehová le respondió, y dijo: Levántate, desciende á Keila, que yo entregaré en tus manos á los Filisteos.

Then David enquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

Then David inquired of the LORD yet again. The LORD answered him, and said, “Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into your hand.”

Fueron a Queilá y destrozaron a los filisteos, y les quitaron el ganado. El pueblo de Queilá fue salvado.

Partióse pues David con sus hombres á Keila, y peleó contra los Filisteos, y trajo antecogidos sus ganados, é hiriólos con grande estrago: y libró David á los de Keila.

So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

Abiatar el sacerdote fue a Queilá con David, y llevó el efod consigo, a fin de consultar al Señor por David.

Y aconteció que, huyendo Abiathar hijo de Ahimelech á David á Keila, vino también con él el ephod.

And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.

Saúl pronto supo que David estaba en Queilá. «Bien —exclamó—. Ahora lo tenemos. Dios lo ha entregado en mis manos, pues se ha atrapado a sí mismo en una ciudad amurallada».

Y fué dicho á Saúl que David había venido á Keila. Entonces dijo Saúl: Dios lo ha traído á mis manos; porque él está encerrado, habiéndose metido en ciudad con puertas y cerraduras.

And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.

Saul was told that David had come to Keilah. Saul said, “God has delivered him into my hand, for he is shut in by entering into a town that has gates and bars.”

Saúl movilizó todo su ejército y lo puso en marcha hacia Queilá para sitiar a David y a sus hombres.

Y convocó Saúl todo el pueblo á la batalla, para descender á Keila, y poner cerco á David y á los suyos.

And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.

Saul summoned all the people to war, to go down to Keilah to besiege David and his men.

Pero David se enteró del plan de Saúl y le dijo a Abiatar el sacerdote que trajera el efod para consultar al Señor.

Mas entendiendo David que Saúl ideaba el mal contra él, dijo á Abiathar sacerdote: Trae el ephod.

And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.

David knew that Saul was devising mischief against him. He said to Abiathar the priest, “Bring the ephod here.”

―Oh Señor Dios de Israel —dijo David—, he sabido que Saúl tiene planes de venir y destruir Queilá porque yo estoy aquí.

Y dijo David: Jehová Dios de Israel, tu siervo tiene entendido que Saúl trata de venir contra Keila, á destruir la ciudad por causa mía.

Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.

Then David said, “O LORD, the God of Israel, your servant has surely heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah to destroy the city for my sake.

¿Me entregarán a él los hombres de Queilá? ¿Vendrá Saúl realmente como he oído? Oh Señor Dios de Israel, te ruego que me lo digas. Y el Señor le dijo: ―Vendrá.

¿Me entregarán los vecinos de Keila en sus manos? ¿descenderá Saúl, como tu siervo tiene oído? Jehová Dios de Israel, ruégote que lo declares á tu siervo. Y Jehová dijo: Sí, descenderá.

Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the LORD said, He will come down.

Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? Will Saul come down, as your servant has heard? LORD, the God of Israel, I beg you, tell your servant.” The LORD said, “He will come down.”

―¿Y me traicionarán estos hombres de Queilá entregándome a Saúl? —insistió David. Y el Señor le respondió: ―Sí; te traicionarán.

Dijo luego David: ¿Me entregarán los vecinos de Keila á mí y á mis hombres en manos de Saúl? Y Jehová respondió: Te entregarán.

Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver thee up.

Then David said, “Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul?” The LORD said, “They will deliver you up.”

Entonces David y sus hombres, que eran seiscientos ahora, salieron de Queilá y comenzaron a andar de un lado a otro por el campo. Pronto Saúl se enteró de que David había huido, y desistió de ir a Queilá.

David entonces se levantó con sus hombres, que eran como seiscientos, y saliéronse de Keila, y fuéronse de una parte á otra. Y vino la nueva á Saúl de como David se había escapado de Keila; y dejó de salir.

Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth.

Then David and his men, who were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah and went wherever they could go. Saul was told that David had escaped from Keilah; and he gave up going there.

David se fue a vivir en las cuevas del desierto en la región montañosa de Zif. Un día, cerca de Hores, supo que Saúl iba hacia Zif en su busca. Saúl lo perseguía día tras día para matarlo, pero el Señor no permitió que lo encontrara.

Y David se estaba en el desierto en peñas, y habitaba en un monte en el desierto de Ziph; y buscábalo Saúl todos los días, mas Dios no lo entregó en sus manos.

And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.

David stayed in the wilderness in the strongholds, and remained in the hill country in the wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but God didn’t deliver him into his hand.

Viendo pues David que Saúl había salido en busca de su alma, estábase él en el bosque en el desierto de Ziph.

And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.

David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life. David was in the wilderness of Ziph in the woods.

El príncipe Jonatán salió en busca de David y lo halló en Hores, y lo alentó en su fe en Dios.

Entonces se levantó Jonathán hijo de Saúl, y vino á David en el bosque, y confortó su mano en Dios.

And Jonathan Saul’s son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.

Jonathan, Saul’s son, arose and went to David into the woods, and strengthened his hand in God.

«No tengas miedo —le dijo Jonatán—. Mi padre jamás te encontrará, tú serás el rey de Israel y yo estaré junto a ti, y seré tu segundo como mi padre bien lo sabe».

Y díjole: No temas, que no te hallará la mano de Saúl mi padre, y tú reinarás sobre Israel, y yo seré segundo después de ti; y aun Saúl mi padre así lo sabe.

And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.

He said to him, “Don’t be afraid, for the hand of Saul my father won’t find you; and you will be king over Israel, and I will be next to you; and Saul my father knows that also.”

Entonces los dos hombres renovaron su pacto de amistad. David se quedó en Hores, y Jonatán regresó a su casa.

Y entrambos hicieron alianza delante de Jehová: y David se quedó en el bosque, y Jonathán se volvió á su casa.

And they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.

They both made a covenant before the LORD. Then David stayed in the woods and Jonathan went to his house.

Pero luego los hombres de Zif fueron a Saúl, que se hallaba en Guibeá, y delataron a David. ―Sabemos dónde está escondido —le dijeron—. Está en las cuevas de Hores, en la colina de Jaquilá, al sur del desierto.

Y subieron los de Ziph á decir á Saúl en Gabaa: ¿No está David escondido en nuestra tierra en las peñas del bosque, en el collado de Hachîla que está á la mano derecha del desierto?

Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?

Then the Ziphites came up to Saul to Gibeah, saying, “Doesn’t David hide himself with us in the strongholds in the woods, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of the desert?

Desciende, señor, y nosotros le daremos caza.

Por tanto, rey, desciende ahora presto, según todo el deseo de tu alma, y nosotros lo entregaremos en la mano del rey.

Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king’s hand.

Now therefore, O king, come down. According to all the desire of your soul to come down; and our part will be to deliver him up into the king’s hand.”

―Alabado sea el Señor —dijo Saúl—. ¡Por fin alguien ha tenido compasión de mí!

Y Saúl dijo: Benditos seáis vosotros de Jehová, que habéis tenido compasión de mí:

And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the LORD; for ye have compassion on me.

Saul said, “You are blessed by the LORD, for you have had compassion on me.

Vayan nuevamente y asegúrense de que está allí y quién lo ha visto, porque yo sé que él es muy astuto.

Id pues ahora, apercibid aún, considerad y ved su lugar donde tiene el pie, y quién lo haya visto allí; porque se me ha dicho que él es en gran manera astuto.

Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealeth very subtilly.

Please go make yet more sure, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who has seen him there; for I have been told that he is very cunning.

Descubran en cuál de sus escondites se halla, y vuelvan con una información precisa. Entonces yo iré con ustedes. Y si él está en aquella zona lo encontraré, aun cuando tenga que registrar cada rincón de Judá.

Considerad pues, y ved todos los escondrijos donde se oculta, y volved á mí con la certidumbre, y yo iré con vosotros: que si él estuviere en la tierra, yo le buscaré entre todos los millares de Judá.

See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah.

Ellos, pues, adelantándose a Saúl, se dirigieron a Zif. David y sus hombres se hallaban en el desierto de Maón en el Arabá, al sur del desierto:

Y ellos se levantaron, y se fueron á Ziph delante de Saúl. Mas David y su gente estaban en el desierto de Maón, en la llanura que está á la diestra del desierto.

And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.

Saúl fue en su busca. David se enteró y descendió a un risco que se halla en el desierto de Maón.

Y partióse Saúl con su gente á buscarlo; pero fué dado aviso á David, y descendió á la peña, y quedóse en el desierto de Maón. Lo cual como Saúl oyó, siguió á David al desierto de Maón.

Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.

Saul and his men went to seek him. When David was told, he went down to the rock, and stayed in the wilderness of Maon. When Saul heard that, he pursued David in the wilderness of Maon.

Saúl y David estaban ahora en laderas opuestas de una montaña. Saúl y sus hombres comenzaron a rodearlos. David hizo todo lo posible por escapar, pero, al parecer, estaba perdido.

Y Saúl iba por el un lado del monte, y David con los suyos por el otro lado del monte: y dábase priesa David para ir delante de Saúl; mas Saúl y los suyos habían encerrado á David y á su gente para tomarlos.

And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.

Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain; and David hurried to get away for fear of Saul, for Saul and his men surrounded David and his men to take them.

En esto le llegó a Saúl un mensaje en el que se le informaba que los filisteos estaban atacando nuevamente a Israel,

Entonces vino un mensajero á Saúl, diciendo: Ven luego, porque los Filisteos han hecho una irrupción en el país.

But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.

But a messenger came to Saul, saying, “Hurry and come, for the Philistines have made a raid on the land!”

y Saúl tuvo que abandonar la persecución, y regresar a pelear contra los filisteos. Desde entonces el lugar donde David estuvo acampado ha sido llamado Sela Hamajlecot (Roca de las Separaciones).

Volvióse por tanto Saúl de perseguir á David, y partió contra los Filisteos. Por esta causa pusieron á aquel lugar por nombre Sela-hammah-lecoth.

Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Sela-hammahlekoth.

So Saul returned from pursuing David, and went against the Philistines. Therefore they called that place Sela Hammahlekoth.

Luego David se fue a vivir en las cuevas de Engadi.

And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at En-gedi.

David went up from there and lived in the strongholds of En Gedi.
