1Ahora bien, el joven Samuel era el siervo del Señor delante de Elí. En aquellos días, el Señor mantuvo su palabra en secreto a los hombres; No había una revelación abierta.
2Paso el tiempo y Eli se estaba quedando ciego, Elí estaba descansando en su habitación,
3Y la luz de Dios todavía ardía, mientras Samuel dormía en el Templo del Señor, donde estaba el cofre del pacto de Dios.
4Él Señor llamó a Samuel. Y él dijo: Heme aquí.
5Y corriendo a Elí, dijo: Heme aquí, porque dijiste mi nombre. Y dijo Elí: No dije tu nombre; Vuelve a tu descanso otra vez. Así que volvió a su cama.
6Y otra vez el Señor dijo: Samuel. Entonces Samuel se levantó, fue a ver a Elí y le dijo: Heme aquí; Porque ciertamente has dicho mi nombre. Pero él respondió: Yo no dije nada, hijo mío; Vuelve a tu descanso otra vez.
7En aquel tiempo, Samuel no conocía al Señor, y la revelación de la palabra del Señor no había venido a él.
8Y por tercera vez el Señor dijo el nombre de Samuel, y él se levantó y fue a ver a Elí, y dijo: Heme aquí; Porque ciertamente has dicho mi nombre. Entonces quedó claro para Eli que la voz que había dicho el nombre del niño era la del Señor.
9Entonces Elí le dijo a Samuel: Regresa: y si vuelve la voz, deja que tu respuesta sea: Habla, Señor; porque tu siervo escucha. Entonces Samuel volvió a su cama.
10Entonces el Señor vino y dijo como antes: Samuel, Samuel. Entonces Samuel respondió: Habla, Señor; porque tu siervo escucha.
11Y el SEÑOR dijo a Samuel: Mira, haré algo en Israel, en el cual los oídos les dolerán a todos los que lo oigan.
12En ese día le haré a Elí todo lo que he dicho sobre su familia, desde el principio hasta el final.
13Y le tienes que decir que enviaré castigo a su familia para siempre, por el pecado que él conoció; porque sus hijos han estado maldiciendo a Dios y él no los corregía.
14Por tanto, he jurado a la familia de Elí que ninguna ofrenda de carne o de comida, jamás podrá expiar el pecado de su familia.
15Y Samuel se mantuvo donde estaba, sin moverse hasta que llegó el momento de abrir las puertas de la casa de Dios por la mañana. Y el miedo le impedía darle a Eli una explicación de su visión.
16Entonces Elí dijo: Samuel, hijo mío. Y respondiendo Samuel, dijo: Heme aquí.
17Y él dijo: ¿Qué te dijo él Señor? No me lo ocultes: que el castigo de Dios sea contigo si me ocultas cualquier cosa que él ha dicho.
18Entonces Samuel le contó todo, sin guardar nada. Y él dijo: Es el Señor; Deja que haga lo que le parezca bien.
19Y Samuel se hizo más viejo, y el Señor estaba con él, y ninguna de sus palabras quedó sin efecto.
20Y fue claro para todo Israel desde Dan hasta Beerseba que Samuel había sido hecho profeta del Señor.
21Y volvió aparecer él Señor en Silo; porque el Señor le dio a Samuel en Silo la revelación de su palabra.

1Y EL joven Samuel ministraba á Jehová delante de Eli: y la palabra de Jehová era de estima en aquellos días; no había visión manifiesta.
2Y aconteció un día, que estando Eli acostado en su aposento, cuando sus ojos comenzaban á oscurecerse, que no podía ver,
3Samuel estaba durmiendo en el templo de Jehová, donde el arca de Dios estaba: y antes que la lámpara de Dios fuese apagada,
4Jehová llamó á Samuel; y él respondió: Heme aquí.
5Y corriendo luego á Eli, dijo: Heme aquí; ¿para qué me llamaste? Y Eli le dijo: Yo no he llamado; vuélvete á acostar. Y él se volvió, y acostóse.
6Y Jehová volvió á llamar otra vez á Samuel. Y levantándose Samuel vino á Eli, y dijo: Heme aquí; ¿para qué me has llamado? Y él dijo: Hijo mío, yo no he llamado; vuelve, y acuéstate.
7Y Samuel no había conocido aún á Jehová, ni la palabra de Jehová le había sido revelada.
8Jehová pues llamó la tercera vez á Samuel. Y él levantándose vino á Eli, y dijo: Heme aquí; ¿para qué me has llamado? Entonces entendió Eli que Jehová llamaba al joven.
9Y dijo Eli á Samuel: Ve, y acuéstate: y si te llamare, dirás: Habla, Jehová, que tu siervo oye. Así se fué Samuel, y acostóse en su lugar.
10Y vino Jehová, y paróse, y llamó como las otras veces: ¡Samuel, Samuel! Entonces Samuel dijo: Habla, que tu siervo oye.
11Y Jehová dijo á Samuel: He aquí haré yo una cosa en Israel, que á quien la oyere, le retiñirán ambos oídos.
12Aquel día yo despertaré contra Eli todas las cosas que he dicho sobre su casa. En comenzando, acabaré también.
13Y mostraréle que yo juzgaré su casa para siempre, por la iniquidad que él sabe; porque sus hijos se han envilecido, y él no los ha estorbado.
14Y por tanto yo he jurado á la casa de Eli, que la iniquidad de la casa de Eli no será expiada jamás, ni con sacrificios ni con presentes.
15Y Samuel estuvo acostado hasta la mañana, y abrió las puertas de la casa de Jehová. Y Samuel temía descubrir la visión á Eli.
16Llamando pues Eli á Samuel, díjole: Hijo mío, Samuel. Y él respondió: Heme aquí.
17Y dijo: ¿Qué es la palabra que te habló Jehová?; ruégote que no me la encubras: así te haga Dios y así te añada, si me encubrieres palabra de todo lo que habló contigo.
18Y Samuel se lo manifestó todo, sin encubrirle nada. Entonces él dijo: Jehová es; haga lo que bien le pareciere.
19Y Samuel creció, y Jehová fué con él, y no dejó caer á tierra ninguna de sus palabras.
20Y conoció todo Israel desde Dan hasta Beer-sebah, que Samuel era fiel profeta de Jehová.
21Así tornó Jehová á aparecer en Silo: porque Jehová se manifestó á Samuel en Silo con palabra de Jehová.

1And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.
2And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;
3And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;
4That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.
5And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.
6And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.
7Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.
8And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.
9Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.
11And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.
12In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end.
13For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not.
14And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever.
15And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel feared to shew Eli the vision.
16Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I.
17And he said, What is the thing that the Lord hath said unto thee? I pray thee hide it not from me: God do so to thee, and more also, if thou hide any thing from me of all the things that he said unto thee.
18And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good.
19And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.
20And all Israel from Dan even to Beer-sheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD.
21And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.

1The child Samuel ministered to the LORD before Eli. The LORD’s word was rare in those days. There were not many visions, then.
2At that time, when Eli was laid down in his place (now his eyes had begun to grow dim, so that he could not see),
3and God’s lamp hadn’t yet gone out, and Samuel had laid down in the LORD’s temple where God’s ark was,
4The LORD called Samuel. He said, “Here I am.”
5He ran to Eli and said, “Here I am; for you called me.” He said, “I didn’t call. Lie down again.” He went and lay down.
6The LORD called yet again, “Samuel!” Samuel arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; for you called me.” He answered, “I didn’t call, my son. Lie down again.”
7Now Samuel didn’t yet know the LORD, neither was the LORD’s word yet revealed to him.
8The LORD called Samuel again the third time. He arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; for you called me.” Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.
9Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down. It shall be, if he calls you, that you shall say, ‘Speak, LORD; for your servant hears.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10The LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak; for your servant hears.”
11The LORD said to Samuel, “Behold, I will do a thing in Israel at which both the ears of everyone who hears it will tingle.
12In that day I will perform against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from the beginning even to the end.
13For I have told him that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knew, because his sons brought a curse on themselves, and he didn’t restrain them.
14Therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be removed with sacrifice or offering forever.”
15Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the LORD’s house. Samuel was afraid to show Eli the vision.
16Then Eli called Samuel and said, “Samuel, my son!” He said, “Here I am.”
17He said, “What is the thing that he has spoken to you? Please don’t hide it from me. God do so to you, and more also, if you hide anything from me of all the things that he spoke to you.”
18Samuel told him every bit, and hid nothing from him. He said, “It is the LORD. Let him do what seems good to him.”
19Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground.
20All Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD.
21The LORD appeared again in Shiloh; for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the LORD’s word.
