1 Samuel 4

Et la parole de Samuel fut adressée à tout Israël ; et Israël sortit en guerre contre les Philistins et campa près d'Ebénézer ; et les Philistins campèrent à Aphek.

Y SAMUEL habló á todo Israel. Por aquel tiempo salió Israel á encontrar en batalla á los Filisteos, y asentó campo junto á Eben-ezer, y los Filisteos asentaron el suyo en Aphec.

And the word of Samuel came to all Israel. Now Israel went out against the Philistines to battle, and pitched beside Eben-ezer: and the Philistines pitched in Aphek.

Et les Philistins se rangèrent en bataille contre Israël, et le combat devint général ; et Israël fut battu par les Philistins, et ils en tuèrent environ quatre mille hommes en bataille rangée dans la plaine.

Y los Filisteos presentaron la batalla á Israel; y trabándose el combate, Israel fué vencido delante de los Filisteos, los cuales hirieron en la batalla por el campo como cuatro mil hombres.

And the Philistines put themselves in array against Israel: and when they joined battle, Israel was smitten before the Philistines: and they slew of the army in the field about four thousand men.

Et le peuple étant revenu au camp, les Anciens d'Israël dirent : Pourquoi l'Eternel nous a-t-il frappés aujourd'hui devant les Philistins ? Faisons venir de Silo l'arche de l'alliance de l'Eternel, et qu'elle vienne au milieu de nous et nous délivre des mains de nos ennemis.

Y vuelto que hubo el pueblo al campamento, los ancianos de Israel dijeron: ¿Por qué nos ha herido hoy Jehová delante de los Filisteos? Traigamos á nosotros de Silo el arca del pacto de Jehová, para que viniendo entre nosotros nos salve de la mano de nuestros enemigos.

And when the people were come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Wherefore hath the LORD smitten us to day before the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of Shiloh unto us, that, when it cometh among us, it may save us out of the hand of our enemies.

When the people had come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, “Why has the LORD defeated us today before the Philistines? Let’s get the ark of the LORD’s covenant out of Shiloh and bring it to us, that it may come among us and save us out of the hand of our enemies.”

Et le peuple envoya à Silo, et on en apporta l'arche de l'alliance de l'Eternel des armées, qui habite entre les chérubins ; et les deux fils d'Eli, Hophni et Phinées, étaient là avec l'arche de l'alliance de Dieu.

Y envió el pueblo á Silo, y trajeron de allá el arca del pacto de Jehová de los ejércitos, que estaba asentado entre los querubines; y los dos hijos de Eli, Ophni y Phinees, estaban allí con el arca del pacto de Dios.

So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth between the cherubims: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

Et comme l'arche de l'Eternel entrait au camp, tout Israël jeta de grands cris de joie et la terre en retentit.

Y aconteció que, como el arca del pacto de Jehová vino al campo, todo Israel dió grita con tan gran júbilo, que la tierra tembló.

And when the ark of the covenant of the LORD came into the camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth rang again.

Et les Philistins, entendant le bruit de ces cris de joie, dirent : Que veulent dire ce bruit et ces grands cris de joie au camp des Hébreux ? Et ils surent que l'arche de l'Eternel était venue au camp.

Y cuando los Filisteos oyeron la voz de júbilo, dijeron: ¿Qué voz de gran júbilo es esta en el campo de los Hebreos? Y supieron que el arca de Jehová había venido al campo.

And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shout, they said, What meaneth the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews? And they understood that the ark of the LORD was come into the camp.

Et les Philistins eurent peur, parce qu'on disait : Dieu est venu au camp ! Et ils dirent : Malheur à nous ! Il n'en était pas ainsi ces jours passés.

Y los Filisteos tuvieron miedo, porque decían: Ha venido Dios al campo. Y dijeron: ¡Ay de nosotros! pues antes de ahora no fué así.

And the Philistines were afraid, for they said, God is come into the camp. And they said, Woe unto us! for there hath not been such a thing heretofore.

Malheur à nous ! Qui nous délivrera de la main de ces dieux puissants ? Ce sont ces dieux-là qui ont frappé les Egyptiens au désert de toutes sortes de plaies.

¡Ay de nosotros! ¿Quién nos librará de las manos de estos dioses fuertes? Estos son los dioses que hirieron á Egipto con toda plaga en el desierto.

Woe unto us! who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty Gods? these are the Gods that smote the Egyptians with all the plagues in the wilderness.

Woe to us! Who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty gods? These are the gods that struck the Egyptians with all kinds of plagues in the wilderness.

Philistins, renforcez-vous et agissez en hommes, de peur que vous ne soyez esclaves des Hébreux comme ils ont été les vôtres. Soyez donc hommes et combattez !

Esforzaos, oh Filisteos, y sed hombres, porque no sirváis á los Hebreos, como ellos os han servido á vosotros: sed hombres, y pelead.

Be strong, and quit yourselves like men, O ye Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have been to you: quit yourselves like men, and fight.

Be strong and behave like men, O you Philistines, that you not be servants to the Hebrews, as they have been to you. Strengthen yourselves like men, and fight!”

Les Philistins donc combattirent, et Israël fut battu, et chacun s'enfuit en sa tente ; et il y eut une très grande défaite, et trente mille hommes de pied d'Israël tombèrent.

Pelearon pues los Filisteos, é Israel fué vencido, y huyeron cada cual á sus tiendas; y fué hecha muy grande mortandad, pues cayeron de Israel treinta mil hombres de á pie.

And the Philistines fought, and Israel was smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen.

Et l'arche de Dieu fut prise et les deux fils d'Eli, Hophni et Phinées, périrent.

Y el arca de Dios fué tomada, y muertos los dos hijos de Eli, Ophni y Phinees.

And the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain.

Et un homme de Benjamin accourut du champ de bataille et arriva à Silo en ce jour-là, ayant ses vêtements déchirés et de la terre sur sa tête.

Y corriendo de la batalla un hombre de Benjamín, vino aquel día á Silo, rotos sus vestidos y tierra sobre su cabeza:

And there ran a man of Benjamin out of the army, and came to Shiloh the same day with his clothes rent, and with earth upon his head.

A man of Benjamin ran out of the army and came to Shiloh the same day, with his clothes torn and with dirt on his head.

Et comme il arrivait, voici Eli était assis sur son siège à côté du chemin, en attente ; car son cœur tremblait à cause de l'arche de Dieu. Cet homme-là étant entré dans la ville pour porter ces nouvelles, toute la ville poussa une clameur.

Y cuando llegó, he aquí Eli que estaba sentado en una silla atalayando junto al camino; porque su corazón estaba temblando por causa del arca de Dios. Llegado pues aquel hombre á la ciudad, y dadas las nuevas, toda la ciudad gritó.

And when he came, lo, Eli sat upon a seat by the wayside watching: for his heart trembled for the ark of God. And when the man came into the city, and told it, all the city cried out.

When he came, behold, Eli was sitting on his seat by the road watching, for his heart trembled for God’s ark. When the man came into the city and told about it, all the city cried out.

Et Eli, entendant le bruit de cette clameur, dit : Que signifie le bruit de cette multitude ? Et l'homme vint en hâte et apporta la nouvelle à Eli.

Y como Eli oyó el estruendo de la gritería, dijo: ¿Qué estruendo de alboroto es éste? Y aquel hombre vino apriesa, y dió las nuevas á Eli.

And when Eli heard the noise of the crying, he said, What meaneth the noise of this tumult? And the man came in hastily, and told Eli.

When Eli heard the noise of the crying, he said, “What does the noise of this tumult mean?” The man hurried, and came and told Eli.

Et Eli était âgé de quatre-vingt-dix-huit ans, et ses yeux étaient fixes, de sorte qu'il ne pouvait voir.

Era ya Eli de edad de noventa y ocho años, y sus ojos se habían entenebrecido, de modo que no podía ver.

Now Eli was ninety and eight years old; and his eyes were dim, that he could not see.

Now Eli was ninety-eight years old. His eyes were set, so that he could not see.

Et cet homme dit à Eli : C'est que je viens de la bataille et que je suis échappé aujourd'hui de la bataille. Et Eli dit : Que s'est-il passé, mon fils ?

Dijo pues aquel hombre á Eli: Yo vengo de la batalla, yo he escapado hoy del combate. Y él dijo: ¿Qué ha acontecido, hijo mío?

And the man said unto Eli, I am he that came out of the army, and I fled to day out of the army. And he said, What is there done, my son?

The man said to Eli, “I am he who came out of the army, and I fled today out of the army.” He said, “How did the matter go, my son?”

Et celui qui portait les nouvelles répondit et dit : Israël a fui devant les Philistins, et même il y a eu beaucoup de gens tués, et même tes deux fils, Hophni et Phinées, sont morts, et l'arche de Dieu a été prise.

Y el mensajero respondió, y dijo: Israel huyó delante de los Filisteos, y también fué hecha gran mortandad en el pueblo; y también tus dos hijos, Ophni y Phinees, son muertos, y el arca de Dios fué tomada.

And the messenger answered and said, Israel is fled before the Philistines, and there hath been also a great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken.

He who brought the news answered, “Israel has fled before the Philistines, and there has been also a great slaughter among the people. Your two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and God’s ark has been captured.”

Et quand il fit mention de l'arche de Dieu, Eli tomba à la renverse de dessus son siège, à côté de la porte, et il se rompit la nuque et mourut ; car c'était un homme vieux et pesant. Il avait jugé Israël quarante ans.

Y aconteció que como él hizo mención del arca de Dios, Eli cayó hacia atrás de la silla al lado de la puerta, y quebrósele la cerviz, y murió: porque era hombre viejo y pesado. Y había juzgado á Israel cuarenta años.

And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.

Et sa belle-fille, femme de Phinées, qui était enceinte et sur le point d'accoucher, avant appris la nouvelle que l'arche de Dieu était prise et que son beau-père et son mari étaient morts, se courba et enfanta ; car les douleurs lui survinrent.

Y su nuera, la mujer de Phinees, que estaba preñada, cercana al parto, oyendo el rumor que el arca de Dios era tomada, y muertos su suegro y su marido, encorvóse y parió; porque sus dolores se habían ya derramado por ella.

And his daughter in law, Phinehas’ wife, was with child, near to be delivered: and when she heard the tidings that the ark of God was taken, and that her father in law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and travailed; for her pains came upon her.

His daughter-in-law, Phinehas’ wife, was with child, near to giving birth. When she heard the news that God’s ark was taken and that her father-in-law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and gave birth; for her pains came on her.

Et comme elle se mourait, les femmes qui étaient près d'elle lui dirent : Ne crains point, car tu as enfanté un fils. Et elle ne répondit pas et n'y fit point attention.

Y al tiempo que se moría, decíanle las que estaban junto á ella: No tengas temor, porque has parido un hijo. Mas ella no respondió, ni paró mientes.

And about the time of her death the women that stood by her said unto her, Fear not; for thou hast born a son. But she answered not, neither did she regard it.

About the time of her death the women who stood by her said to her, “Don’t be afraid, for you have given birth to a son.” But she didn’t answer, neither did she regard it.

Et elle nomma l'enfant Icabod, disant : La gloire est emportée d'Israël, parce que l'arche de Dieu était prise, et à cause de son beau-père et de son mari.

Y llamó al niño Ichâbod, diciendo: ¡Traspasada es la gloria de Israel! por el arca de Dios que fué tomada, y porque era muerto su suegro, y su marido.

And she named the child I-chabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband.

She named the child Ichabod, saying, “The glory has departed from Israel!” because God’s ark was taken, and because of her father-in-law and her husband.

Et elle dit : La gloire est emportée d'Israël, car l'arche de Dieu est prise !

Dijo pues: Traspasada es la gloria de Israel: porque el arca de Dios fué tomada.

And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken.

She said, “The glory has departed from Israel; for God’s ark has been taken.”
