1 Samuel 4

Or ce que Samuel avait dit, arriva à tout Israël ; car Israël sortit en bataille pour aller à la rencontre des Philistins, et se campa près d’Eben-hézer, et les Philistins se campèrent en Aphek.

Y SAMUEL habló á todo Israel. Por aquel tiempo salió Israel á encontrar en batalla á los Filisteos, y asentó campo junto á Eben-ezer, y los Filisteos asentaron el suyo en Aphec.

And the word of Samuel came to all Israel. Now Israel went out against the Philistines to battle, and pitched beside Eben-ezer: and the Philistines pitched in Aphek.

Et les Philistins se rangèrent en bataille pour aller à la rencontre d’Israël, et quand on fut dans la mêlée, Israël fut battu devant les Philistins, qui en tuèrent environ quatre mille hommes en la bataille par la campagne.

Y los Filisteos presentaron la batalla á Israel; y trabándose el combate, Israel fué vencido delante de los Filisteos, los cuales hirieron en la batalla por el campo como cuatro mil hombres.

And the Philistines put themselves in array against Israel: and when they joined battle, Israel was smitten before the Philistines: and they slew of the army in the field about four thousand men.

Et le peuple étant revenu au camp, les Anciens d’Israël dirent : Pourquoi l’Eternel nous a-t-il battus aujourd’hui devant les Philistins ; faisons-nous amener de Silo l’Arche de l’alliance de l’Eternel, et qu’il vienne au milieu de nous, et nous délivre de la main de nos ennemis.

Y vuelto que hubo el pueblo al campamento, los ancianos de Israel dijeron: ¿Por qué nos ha herido hoy Jehová delante de los Filisteos? Traigamos á nosotros de Silo el arca del pacto de Jehová, para que viniendo entre nosotros nos salve de la mano de nuestros enemigos.

And when the people were come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Wherefore hath the LORD smitten us to day before the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of Shiloh unto us, that, when it cometh among us, it may save us out of the hand of our enemies.

When the people had come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, “Why has the LORD defeated us today before the Philistines? Let’s get the ark of the LORD’s covenant out of Shiloh and bring it to us, that it may come among us and save us out of the hand of our enemies.”

Le peuple donc envoya à Silo, et on apporta de là l’Arche de l’alliance de l’Eternel des armées, qui habite entre les Chérubins ; et là étaient les deux fils d’Héli, Hophni, et Phinées, avec l’Arche de l’alliance de Dieu.

Y envió el pueblo á Silo, y trajeron de allá el arca del pacto de Jehová de los ejércitos, que estaba asentado entre los querubines; y los dos hijos de Eli, Ophni y Phinees, estaban allí con el arca del pacto de Dios.

So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth between the cherubims: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

Et il arriva que comme l’Arche de l’Eternel entrait au camp, tout Israël se mit à jeter de si grands cris de joie, que la terre en retentissait.

Y aconteció que, como el arca del pacto de Jehová vino al campo, todo Israel dió grita con tan gran júbilo, que la tierra tembló.

And when the ark of the covenant of the LORD came into the camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth rang again.

Et les Philistins entendant le bruit de ces cris de joie, dirent : Que veut dire ce bruit, et que signifient ces grands cris de joie au camp de ces Hébreux ? et ils surent que l’Arche de l’Eternel était venue au camp.

Y cuando los Filisteos oyeron la voz de júbilo, dijeron: ¿Qué voz de gran júbilo es esta en el campo de los Hebreos? Y supieron que el arca de Jehová había venido al campo.

And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shout, they said, What meaneth the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews? And they understood that the ark of the LORD was come into the camp.

Et les Philistins eurent peur, parce qu’on disait : Dieu est venu au camp ; et ils dirent : Malheur à nous ! car ceci n’a pas été aux jours passés.

Y los Filisteos tuvieron miedo, porque decían: Ha venido Dios al campo. Y dijeron: ¡Ay de nosotros! pues antes de ahora no fué así.

And the Philistines were afraid, for they said, God is come into the camp. And they said, Woe unto us! for there hath not been such a thing heretofore.

Malheur à nous ! Qui nous délivrera de la main de ces Dieux-là si glorieux ? Ce sont ces Dieux qui ont frappé les Egyptiens au désert, outre toutes les autres plaies.

¡Ay de nosotros! ¿Quién nos librará de las manos de estos dioses fuertes? Estos son los dioses que hirieron á Egipto con toda plaga en el desierto.

Woe unto us! who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty Gods? these are the Gods that smote the Egyptians with all the plagues in the wilderness.

Philistins renforcez-vous, et soyez hommes, de peur que vous ne soyez asservis aux Hébreux, comme ils vous ont été asservis ; soyez donc hommes, et combattez.

Esforzaos, oh Filisteos, y sed hombres, porque no sirváis á los Hebreos, como ellos os han servido á vosotros: sed hombres, y pelead.

Be strong, and quit yourselves like men, O ye Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have been to you: quit yourselves like men, and fight.

Be strong and behave like men, O you Philistines, that you not be servants to the Hebrews, as they have been to you. Strengthen yourselves like men, and fight!”

Les Philistins donc combattirent, et les Israëlites furent battus, et s’enfuirent chacun en sa tente ; et il y eut une fort grande défaite, car il y demeura d’Israël trente mille hommes de pied.

Pelearon pues los Filisteos, é Israel fué vencido, y huyeron cada cual á sus tiendas; y fué hecha muy grande mortandad, pues cayeron de Israel treinta mil hombres de á pie.

And the Philistines fought, and Israel was smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen.

Et l’Arche de Dieu fut prise, et les deux fils d’Héli, Hophni et Phinées, moururent.

Y el arca de Dios fué tomada, y muertos los dos hijos de Eli, Ophni y Phinees.

And the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain.

God’s ark was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain.

Or un homme de Benjamin s’enfuit de la bataille, et arriva à Silo ce même jour-là, ayant ses vêtements déchirés, et de la terre sur sa tête.

Y corriendo de la batalla un hombre de Benjamín, vino aquel día á Silo, rotos sus vestidos y tierra sobre su cabeza:

And there ran a man of Benjamin out of the army, and came to Shiloh the same day with his clothes rent, and with earth upon his head.

A man of Benjamin ran out of the army and came to Shiloh the same day, with his clothes torn and with dirt on his head.

Et comme il arrivait, voici, Héli était assis sur un siège à côté du chemin, étant attentif ; car son cœur tremblait à cause de l’Arche de Dieu. Cet homme-là donc vint portant les nouvelles dans la ville, et toute la ville se mit à crier.

Y cuando llegó, he aquí Eli que estaba sentado en una silla atalayando junto al camino; porque su corazón estaba temblando por causa del arca de Dios. Llegado pues aquel hombre á la ciudad, y dadas las nuevas, toda la ciudad gritó.

And when he came, lo, Eli sat upon a seat by the wayside watching: for his heart trembled for the ark of God. And when the man came into the city, and told it, all the city cried out.

Et Héli entendant le bruit de ce cri, dit : Que veut dire ce grand tumulte ? et cet homme se hâtant vint à Héli, et lui raconta tout.

Y como Eli oyó el estruendo de la gritería, dijo: ¿Qué estruendo de alboroto es éste? Y aquel hombre vino apriesa, y dió las nuevas á Eli.

And when Eli heard the noise of the crying, he said, What meaneth the noise of this tumult? And the man came in hastily, and told Eli.

When Eli heard the noise of the crying, he said, “What does the noise of this tumult mean?” The man hurried, and came and told Eli.

Or Héli était âgé de quatre vingt dix-huit ans ; et ses yeux étaient tout ternis, et il ne pouvait voir.

Era ya Eli de edad de noventa y ocho años, y sus ojos se habían entenebrecido, de modo que no podía ver.

Now Eli was ninety and eight years old; and his eyes were dim, that he could not see.

Now Eli was ninety-eight years old. His eyes were set, so that he could not see.

Cet homme-là donc dit à Héli : Je suis celui qui viens de la bataille, car je me suis aujourd’hui échappé de la bataille. Et Héli dit : Qu’y est-il arrivé, mon fils ?

Dijo pues aquel hombre á Eli: Yo vengo de la batalla, yo he escapado hoy del combate. Y él dijo: ¿Qué ha acontecido, hijo mío?

And the man said unto Eli, I am he that came out of the army, and I fled to day out of the army. And he said, What is there done, my son?

The man said to Eli, “I am he who came out of the army, and I fled today out of the army.” He said, “How did the matter go, my son?”

Et celui qui portait les nouvelles répondit, et dit : Israël a fui devant les Philistins, et même il y a eu une grande défaite du peuple ; et tes deux fils, Hophni et Phinées, sont morts, et l’Arche de Dieu a été prise.

Y el mensajero respondió, y dijo: Israel huyó delante de los Filisteos, y también fué hecha gran mortandad en el pueblo; y también tus dos hijos, Ophni y Phinees, son muertos, y el arca de Dios fué tomada.

And the messenger answered and said, Israel is fled before the Philistines, and there hath been also a great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken.

He who brought the news answered, “Israel has fled before the Philistines, and there has been also a great slaughter among the people. Your two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and God’s ark has been captured.”

Et il arriva qu’aussitôt qu’il eut fait mention de l’Arche de Dieu, Héli tomba à la renverse de dessus son siège à côté de la porte, et se rompit la nuque du cou, et mourut ; car cet homme était vieux et pesant. Or il avait jugé Israël quarante ans.

Y aconteció que como él hizo mención del arca de Dios, Eli cayó hacia atrás de la silla al lado de la puerta, y quebrósele la cerviz, y murió: porque era hombre viejo y pesado. Y había juzgado á Israel cuarenta años.

And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.

Et sa belle-fille, femme de Phinées, qui était grosse, et sur le point d’accoucher, ayant appris la nouvelle que l’Arche de Dieu était prise, et que son beau-père et son mari étaient morts, se courba et enfanta ; car ses douleurs lui étaient survenues.

Y su nuera, la mujer de Phinees, que estaba preñada, cercana al parto, oyendo el rumor que el arca de Dios era tomada, y muertos su suegro y su marido, encorvóse y parió; porque sus dolores se habían ya derramado por ella.

And his daughter in law, Phinehas’ wife, was with child, near to be delivered: and when she heard the tidings that the ark of God was taken, and that her father in law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and travailed; for her pains came upon her.

Et comme elle mourait, celles qui l’assistaient, lui dirent : Ne crains point ; car tu as enfanté un fils ; mais elle ne répondit rien, et n’en tint point de compte.

Y al tiempo que se moría, decíanle las que estaban junto á ella: No tengas temor, porque has parido un hijo. Mas ella no respondió, ni paró mientes.

And about the time of her death the women that stood by her said unto her, Fear not; for thou hast born a son. But she answered not, neither did she regard it.

About the time of her death the women who stood by her said to her, “Don’t be afraid, for you have given birth to a son.” But she didn’t answer, neither did she regard it.

Mais elle nomma l’enfant I-Cabod, en disant : La gloire de l’Eternel est transportée d’Israël ; parce que l’Arche de l’Eternel était prise, et à cause de son beau-père et de son mari.

Y llamó al niño Ichâbod, diciendo: ¡Traspasada es la gloria de Israel! por el arca de Dios que fué tomada, y porque era muerto su suegro, y su marido.

And she named the child I-chabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband.

She named the child Ichabod, saying, “The glory has departed from Israel!” because God’s ark was taken, and because of her father-in-law and her husband.

Elle dit donc : La gloire est transportée d’Israël ; car l’Arche de Dieu est prise.

Dijo pues: Traspasada es la gloria de Israel: porque el arca de Dios fué tomada.

And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken.

She said, “The glory has departed from Israel; for God’s ark has been taken.”
